#68 - How many of you are prepared for a natural disaster or an unexpected emergency?
How many of you have a plan that if your family should become separated you all know where to go, who to contact, and what to do until you are reunited?
I don’t need an answer because I know it is few of you. And even if you think you are pretty sure you could handle it if an emergency should occur, I bet you probably could use a brush up on some of the points my guest is going to speak about.
Joining me today is Chris Gilmour aka Chris Outdoors.
Chris is an outdoor educator and consultant. He teaches people about self-reliance and emergency preparedness. He also mentors individuals and staff on deep nature awareness and working with nature as the ultimate guide towards human potential, resiliency, ecological stewardship, and self-development. That is such a good description and what a purpose!
One of his amazing courses is called Survive The Storm which is a 7-day gamified e-course.
I took this course and I learned a ton. It is so well done, and Chris presents the information in such a fun, interactive way.
We are going to talk about the importance of having a plan and learning how to use your senses, intuition, and the skills and preplanning you will learn to keep yourself and your family safe in case of an emergency.
Get ready for a mind-opening discussion.

067 - Some of you are parents or want to be parents, and you want to be the best parent you can be.
I have talked about parenthood before and ways to be a better parent and connect better with your child.
One of those ways is through sports.
As with all aspects of parenting, interacting with your child through sports is most beneficial and joyful when it is approached with intention and purpose, and respect for your child and everyone involved.
I have seen people who don’t think about that. This is the parent who sort of commandeers the sport and it becomes more about the parent than the child.
As a result, this lack of awareness can cause a rift in the parent-child relationship. But with a little direction and awareness, this can be avoided. The relationship can thrive and grow into a beautiful, strong bond.
My guest today is Gustavo Netto who is a former D1 soccer player who has created Soccer 4 Parents.
His goal is to help parents connect with their children in a positive and meaningful way through soccer, but the principles apply to all sports or anything that both parent and child can share.
I love his approach to parenting from the male perspective. So far, I have featured the mother’s perspective so I am happy to have the input and example that Gustavo gives.
But regardless of gender, if you are a parent or a future parent, this show will help you have a great connection and relationship with your child.

#66 - We are shifting gears a bit and talking about our health and body and how strength training is actually the best thing you can do to keep your body from breaking down as you get older.
My guest today is Chris Tiley, a physiotherapist based in Birmingham, England, and he is a big proponent of helping people, particularly those over 60 years of age, regain their strength and mobility.
As the founder of Never Too Old To Lift, he is passionate about introducing strength training to those who never thought they could do it.
Don’t think this episode isn’t for you, though.
Strength training is for everyone: over 60, in your 20s, the non-athlete, the fit, the couch potato; no matter where you are physically, you can improve your strength, mobility, and health by lifting some heavy stuff - in a controlled and gradual way, of course.
Chris and I are here to encourage you and give you a little foundation and proof of why it works and why you can absolutely benefit too.

#65 - If you have a small business, if you are a freelancer or solopreneur, that is fantastic!
Being your own boss is the best. It’s the dream, right?
But the thought of setting it up legally is usually not at the top of the priority list, especially in the beginning.
If you have little or no capital, spending money on a lawyer when not much is coming in is easy to put off and worry about it later. It is also often scary and confusing.
But what if I told you, there is a way to put a legal structure in place for your business from the beginning that is easy and inexpensive?
Wesley Henderson is my guest today and he is a business lawyer who has created Drafted Legal which caters to small business start-ups. Everything is drafted for you so you can be sure your business is legal from day one.
They provide customizable legal templates drafted by a licensed attorney, at prices that fit your startup budget. They have bundles for niche industries and are legal in all 50 states. If you are nervous about the whole legal thing, you are really going to be put at ease after listening to Wesley.
Here is one more resource for you that truly takes the fear out of adulting.

#64 - Today I want to discuss the importance of slowing down before you run yourself into the ground.
I admit it. I have been running pretty hard for the last couple of months and it has finally caught up with me.
It used to be worse. I have run myself into the ground more than once. It wasn’t fun. Rather than recognize my body and mind's cry for help, I was forced to stop.
Admitting that you are tired can be a big challenge for many. It always was for me. But I am learning and changing now.
At least now, I can slow it down before it takes me down. Better late than never, right?
What about you? Can you relate to this?
I think this is a topic that resonates with many. Probably more than those who care to admit it.
But admitting that you need a break, or a vacation, or a nap, or to just move a little slower is a huge life skill.
It is worth it and you can do it.
This pep talk may be the push (in the right direction) you needed.

#63 - Today is a very practical and instructional show.
I have information for you about home security, why it is important, what to consider, and how to go about setting it up.
I am speaking with Eddie Badaloni who is the owner of Maddox Security here in Las Vegas and who has been in this industry for 35 years.
He has a lot of knowledge and information to share. Information that I wish I had known when I was younger. I learned from making mistakes along the way, but I hope that what you hear will help you avoid some of that.
I hope you find this conversation helpful and fun. Yeah, fun! Things are fun when you aren’t stressed or in the dark about it.

#62- How do you achieve grace? I would say through experience and when we successfully handle the tough situations in our lives.
We are taught how to handle life through our families and how they deal with things. But very often they do not do the best job. They didn’t have the skills and they become angry, unhappy, and frustrated. We then learn to expect that in our own lives.
Perhaps you are experiencing unhappiness and dissatisfaction right now. Maybe you have brought an unhealthy ancestral cycle into your NOW.
If so, this episode may help you. My guest is Mee Vaj, a certified hypnotherapist and energy healer who helps her clients heal deep childhood wounds and break free of the dysfunctional behaviors and cultural habits that may have plagued generations.
You can break the cycle, do better, and break free of toxic thoughts and behaviors. You are not your past. Your past does not define or limit you. I hope this podcast episode opens a door for you to take charge of your now and allow the best version of yourself to step forward in the future.

#61 - Today's topic is about the importance of emotional health and how crucial a role it plays in your life, your life choices, your perception about yourself, and your outlook on life.
Stress plays a significant role in all our lives, but it is often particularly dominant in high-achieving entrepreneurs and professionals. This stress very often leads to burnout and Dr. K knows exactly how that feels.
He is currently a physician, but before this, he was on Wall Street for 8 years, a VP at Goldman Sachs, and before that a double major at Cornell University, an Ivy League school, in biology and economics, no less. That is so impressive! And from the outside, it looked like he really had it together. But, behind the scenes, things were falling apart.
Dr. K’s personal journey to overcome Imposter Syndrome, which we will be discussing, is what led to his ability to reclaim his emotional health and to stop chasing joy and start living in wonder.

This month’s story is called, Owen, by Kevin Henkes.
It’s an adorable story about a little boy who was told he was too old for his blankie. But if you love something, there is always a way to keep it near.
Give what you love a hug. You can also listen to this story and see the pictures on my YouTube Channel, How To Life.
So sit back for 5 minutes and enjoy this sweet and happy story.
