Narrator makes an unremarkable story unbearable
The narrator's pronunciation, accent and voices for the various characters are just awful. The worst is that she keeps pronouncing Pugot Sound "puh-gut". I'd almost rather listen to the kindle read to me with the mechanical voice.

    Dragonwand for a world.
To find a dragon wand a a boy must find friends, magic, adventure and knowledge. It is difficult to learn when there is no school or teachers.
Adventure and Excitement to the End
Awesome Book! Loved the Characters! Great read for sure.
An easy read suitable for all ages
At sixteen, Markus wants to study magic and become a wizard. His parents want him to stay and someday take over the family farm. It's time for him to choose, and choose he does. Slipping out in the middle of the night, Markus strikes out on his own in pursuit of rumors of an wizard in the hope that he will find in him a teacher and mentor. Markus succeeds in finding the wizard, but the old man only lives long enough to pass on his wand and a quest that, if he is successful, will save his world from a growing evil.
Markus' world is filled with different beings resembling one or another type of non-human life capable of speaking, Lizardkind, Rakki (having tails and fur much like wolves or dogs), and dragons. On his way to find the Dragon Citadel, he comes across a couple of Rakki losing a battle with an imp. Using a spell from his dreams, he manages to save the female, and is invited back to their village to rest and resupply as thanks. While there, Markus learns he has become is country's most wanted by the Guard.
I found this to be a clean, easy read. The story has all the elements a young (or old) reader could want for a fantasy novel. There's the requisite girl his age for Markus to become interested in, the obligatory over-protective father, understanding mother, a quest, forbidden magic, an evil wizard and greedy king.
With a couple of exceptions where I found passages the read like a word was missing, the story is well written and fairly well edited. The biggest exception to this is the difference in the title on the cover of the book versus what is on the inside of the book. An easy enough fix for eBooks, not so for the print copies. This should have been caught before going to press.
Due to the issues mentioned above, I can only give this book three stars. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. June 6, 2016. Having seen that the problems with the title have been corrected, I am revising my rating. Not catching that error was a pretty major gaff all the way around.

    Any additional comments?
This book is pretty intense thrill ride. Readers/listeners are introduced to an abandoned baby girl who is experimented on and trained to be a super-soldier prototype. The training and the lifestyle that come with it. Marie's attempt to get away to a normal life is thwarted, and all hell breaks loose as the bloodbath begins.
    Action packed!!
When scientists try to search for a solution to disease and physical decay they start doing experiments on male babies, that is until Dr. Carl Stanley finds a crying female baby behind a dumpster and decides to include her in the program, what they get then is Marie. She excels at the program and becomes "the picture of physical perfection; possessing the ability to heal at a rapid rate" Out of the 10 babies injected over time, she stands out, both in her attitude and behavior. She doesn't just act when told, she thinks more and seems to have more of a conscience than the 9 boys. As they grow up, she becomes friends with a particular child but he is taken from the program as he shows no signs of special abilities. She then finds herself drawn to Michael, the leader of the group. When something happens to destroy Marie's life, she shows the people who "made" her, exactly what she can do!
Plot wise, initially, I wasn't sure whether I'd enjoy reading this as the subject was kids being part of an experiment, but thankfully they were never mistreated and they were looked after, they were just injected everyday with a serum. Also we jump from them being babies to being adults quick enough that it doesn't really register. This book is so incredibly fast paced and intense, that I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I listened to it in a day and didn't want it to end. The idea of a super soldier, one capable of anything, and the consequences of what happens when they go "rogue" made for an amazing read!
Marie was kick ass! She started out as a conscientious person but when her life is destroyed, she shows exactly what she can do, and boy that girl was bad! My heart broke for her and what she became! You know why she did the things she did, but it still made you feel for her.
Anyway, this was an action packed, intense and addicting read. I didn't just read it, I devoured it and look forward to more!! Well written, developed and entertaining, this is a must read.
Lori Faiella did a really good job with the narrator. She brought Marie to life and really made the story pop.

    A Wonderful Book
Thoughtful, engaging, well researched. I listened first, but now I'm going to read it. This is one of those books I'll revisit for years to come.
    Stilted
Stilted dialog, inconsistent premises, and trite vocal characterizations made this one a struggle to finish.
    Engaging and thought provoking
This story is both entertaining and also very deep. We follow the birth and development of consciousness arising within a non human 'mind' and are brought into the debate as to whether this can be classified as consciousness in the same way we humans experience. All of this is done skillfully within human family dramas which are of themselves very engaging. Given the times we live in, in which AI ability is developing at an incredible rate, this story has great relevance. I recommend this audio book to anyone interested in this topic (as the details of AI development are very well researched) and also to those who just love a good human story. Both will be delighted.

Where are all the time travelers? After all, if it is possible to move between past and future, shouldn't someone from somewhen in all the infinite reaches of the future have visited by now? The good news is, there are answers to those questions.
In the meantime, here are some other questions to ponder. What if a man could go forward in time to learn about the future - and then backwards in time to correct a dreadful mistake? But what if going back in time was, in and of itself, the most terrible mistake possible?
Could a life's journey that started off bending - and breaking - a few real estate laws really wind up ending life as we know it? That would have to be impossible. Or would it?

A Very Good, and Creative, and Fun, Time Travel SF Tale!
Writing as a scientist, and as one of the few scientists in the world who has ever been hired to render consulting on time-travel technologies (please, don't ask... the three projects in which I was somewhat involved were all just too weird. ...), and as someone who has been an avid SF fan since the age of four, all that I can say is that I thoroughly enjoyed this short story/novella!
I first discovered this tale in its earlier form, when it had been published under the name "Time Out", a few days ago in a Kindle anthology of time travel SF stories, and it was my very first exposure to SF tales written by Lerner. I then decided to also purchase the newer, and renamed, version of the tale under the name "A Time Foreclosed" from Amazon, also in Kindle format.
Having read and enjoyed this tale immensely, I am now looking for more SF stories written by Lerner, and, in fact, I have ordered four more of Lerner's SF tales, all again in Kindle format, from Amazon over the past two hours!
" I'm really surprised by how much I enjoyed this story
Given how much the trope of time travel has been used, one might wonder if there was anything left to say?
It turns out that the answer was "yes." I'm really surprised by how much I enjoyed this story, especially given its rather grim feel. Mr. Lerner focuses, as it were, on Igor rather than Frankenstein. An "everyman" haunted by the social, economic, and moral cost of his past decisions.
On the whole the feel of the story is reminiscent of a golden age story. While the setting is modern, the focus on plot, character and a thought provoking idea is classic.
    A fine short story
This is the sort of story that one would expect of Mr. Lerner, well developed and somewhat damaged characters confronting an extraordinary situation. In this case, they are confronting the paradox of why there are no signs of time travelers if time travel is feasible. Also, can we say grandfather paradox?
    Two short stories
Although I had read one of the stories recently in Analog, the updated story was entertaining enough for another read. It's a somber take on time travel that few authors have ever used in all similar stories that I've read. Lerner here has a nice flair for tragedy.
The second story is somewhat a joke on the paradox issue, i.e. the "killing the grand father" clause. I enjoyed it.
    Another time travel stroy
Lerner is a good writer and he did a good job on this book. I kept wondering what new wrinkle he had come up with to end this one. Unfortunately, he did not come up with a new idea.

    Title: Wrath of Athena
    Subtitle: A Snapshot Novella
    Author: Dale Cozort
    Narrator: K. Richardson
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 6 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-29-16
    Publisher: Dale Cozort
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
For 80 million years, the Tourists have taken Snapshots of Earth, creating living replicas of continents. Life in the Snapshots quickly diverges from the real world, creating a universe where humans and animals from Earth's history fly between Snapshots, exploring, fighting, and sometimes meeting themselves.
A fly-by-night petting zoo lands in Madagascar-24M, the Snapshot of Madagascar the Tourists made 24 million years ago, and promptly finds itself slapped in quarantine. After all, exotic animals from off-Snapshot are a risk, for people, local wildlife, and the environment.
Scott Hardy's title may be Assistant Veterinary Engineer, but his actual job is shoveling crap out of cages and protecting the "talent" - the nubile youths hired to run the petting zoo.
That doesn't include protecting the zoo's star performer, Athena Anders, Hardy's redheaded, volatile, dish-hurling, on-again-off-again girlfriend. Not because Athena isn't talented, but because she does just fine taking care of herself. The one thing Athena really loves are the zoo's stars, a pair of talking dinosaurs.
Then the dinosaurs go missing. And it's mating season.
The only thing worse than the havoc a pair of breeding dinosaurs can create on an unprotected, unsuspecting world? The wrath of Athena when she finds out who's responsible.
    Members Reviews:
Another great read from Dale Cozort
This novella is great. Fast paced and an unpredictable plot kept me reading non-stop until I finished. Dale has added to his Snapshot universe with this well written story. If you have already readSnapshot: Power, Sex & Revenge, this is a glimpse into another interesting twist that could be found in one of the many Snapshot copies of our good earth.
A travelling Petting Zoo has a problem when a pair of dog sized dinosaurs escape, or did someone release them? Allowing this pair to freely roam could have a devastating effect on the future of the Zoo and even worse, on the local environment.
I strongly suggest that you read "Snapshot: Power, Sex & Revenge" first. That novel will bring you into the Snapshot universe so it will be easier to understand the background for "Wrath of Athena".
    Thanks Dale for great read.
    A quick and entertaining read
This little novella is set in Dale Cozortâs Snapshot universe, wherein an alien race has created living replicas of Earth throughout Time. Earth explorers can transit to these mini-world through Vents, which opens up new business opportunities for all sorts of entrepreneurs, including, in this case, an exotic petting zoo.
Wrath of Athena is a clever tale about what happens when two small dinosaurs from the zoo, a male and a female, escape into the Madagascar Snapshot, which is 24 million years ago.
The mad scramble to reclaim the dinos drives a nice little mystery, informed by a host of quirky characters.
    Well worth a buck.
just a story he feels good about. So while I usually refer to authors ...
Before we get to the story, let me tell you a little about the author, Dale Cozort. He is part of a loose confederation of writers I have dubbed the âKansas Bunchâ, of which I am a member, though none of the others have adopted that name. Dale is unusual in our group, because he comes, gets advice, ignores a lot of it, and publishes his damn books. There are other published writers in the Kansas Bunch, some even famous or becoming so.

    Members Reviews:
Narrator saves the day but it's not enough.
I liked the story line. It was imaginative, fast paced, and not falsely loaded with the time, date, and place at the start of every chapter, nor did the author add any steamy bedroom romps and he cleverly told the story without using the garbage mouthed characters that almost all new authors use. But, yes there's always a "but", he still needs to flesh out his characters. They seem to be a little flat and the book's plot gets a little predictable and a little rushed, especially the last chapter. The narrator, Heidi Cox, does a very good job. She adds to the sparse characters with expression., giving them all a distinction which they sorely need. No, I won't be buying any more of this series or the Heir/Pair series. They're just too "blah".
Great tale of romance and adventure.
I liked this story of a generation ship discovered many years after it had gone astray. The main characters are well developed and likeable, the villains believable, and the story was very well performed by the Heidi Cox.
    Fun, short generation ship adventure
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was an entertaining listen. For whatever reason I found it reminiscent of Heinlein's juveniles. The characters were likable and the female protagonist was strong and intelligent.
    The narration was well done.
I wasn't crazy about everyone having a "loose" personality. No one appeared chaste.
I will look for more of Mr. Vogel's work.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Truth Hurts to be better than the print version?
I prefer audio edition especially when the narrator does a great job reading the story.
Which character as performed by Holly Adams was your favorite?
Natalie's grandma, she had so much information to give. I guess she was the mysterious one in the story with all the secrets to spill.
    Any additional comments?
For a short story the build up was slow and pretty much what the reader wanted was crammed in at the last minute..literally. The story was not bad, just felt like it was rushed at the end.
This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.
    Amazing short story.
This story starts with a little girl named Natalie being dropped of with her grandmother, since her mother has to go to work and has no one else to watch her. The story starts off with the tension between mother and grandmother firmly established. The reason for the tension is discovered when Natalie discovers her grandmother paintings, which it turns out are of an Alien that visited her when she was younger. Natalie is very excited about this , and cajoles her grandmother into telleing her about it. This starts Natalie's fascination with her Grandmother and the aliens. Natalie's mother doesn't believe in them, believing her mother mad, and keeps them separated. Natalie sees her grandmother again on her 16th birthday, and gets more of the story. Her mother walks in on them talking about it, and she separates them for good at that point, but only after Natalie has already learned some dark truths about her mother. This is a character driven story, and Natalie and her grandmother are beautifully written, with a lot of dramatic heft to them. The tensions and secrets in the family keep you guessing who's side is valid.I can't wait to get to the next story.
Narration was handled by the excellent Holly Adams, who did a great job bringing the characters to life.
I was given a copy of this audiobook by the author free of charge in exchange for an honest review through Audiobook Boom
    Wish there was more
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I knew it was a short story, but it felt like there was a lot missing- plot lines that could have been explored in more depth. I enjoyed the writing and characters, but wish the story was more fleshed out.
Have you listened to any of Holly Adamss other performances before? How does this one compare?
I enjoyed the narration very much, the narrator did a great job of "growing up" with the main character- I would be interested in listening to more books narrated by her
    Any additional comments?
"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBoom dot com."
An underdeveloped story with great potential.
A story that hints the impact of first contact on three generation of women. In a story this brief it's a bit hard to have a huge back story.

    Very Enjoyable!
This book is sort of like Edge of Tomorrow meets Battle: Los Angeles. The author does a very good job at describing the hopelessness of fighting a nearly numberless foe that is better in almost every way. He also conveys multiple scenarios where through courage and loyalty you can overcome almost any situation. I loves listening and I plan on finishing the series as well as the Battle: Beyond Earth series.
The narrator did a good job of conveying a militaristic voice when in combat situations. The only problem I had was that he pronounced some words differently(I do not say wrong because I may be wrong) than from what I have heard in other books and it Slightly confused me at times.

    Key Part In The Series
This book is key in the series as it marks the introduction of new characters who have special abilities. This story is decidedly different than the first two books, but connects them with surprising effectiveness. Good read, and makes you want more!
