It's 2105 and Cray has a killer life - literally. He spends every night hunting zombies to keep everyone else in New York safe. Of course he's alone, had a dysfunctional childhood, and could die at any moment, but that's not so bad. Right?
After all, thanks to his tireless efforts and the efforts of the other Night Sweepers, society has a fighting chance of recovering from the zombie apocalypse and being normal again.
Enter Jonathan Harbin, the son of the psychopath that made the virus that created the zombie horde. Emerging from obscurity, he claims to have created a new strain that could decimate the remaining populace of the planet. Suddenly everything Cray has fought for could be gone overnight. There's only one solution: Harbin has to go away. To do this, he's going to have to join forces with the stunning Mira Winston, a government agent with dark secrets of her own.

    Zombies And So Much More!
Zombie Apocalypse was an intriguing story with multiple twist that separates it from other zombie stories. The book moves at a steady pace, and has exceptional characters liked Cray and Mira. I love how a relationship grows between the two of them, while their mission takes them deeper into danger. Cray and Mira uncover many secretes that will affect them personally, and face dangers far worse than the "festers" Cray usually takes out.
John Pirhalla has a great voice, and does a good job on the narration. The characters are easily distinguishable, and have their own voice.
"I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom dot com."
Excellent start to a fun series.
Would you listen to Zombie Apocalypse Aftermath: The Night Sweeper again? Why?
Yes. Initially when the book start I was not impress with the opening story. So I was kind of tuned out until Cray opened up about his life. The story then took off for me.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mira. She is just a no nonsense kick ass zombie killer.
What about John Pirhallas performance did you like?
I thought John Pirhalla did a pretty good job narrating the different character voices. The honest truth, it was because of his narration that kept me listening to the story, and I am so very glad I did.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, when Cray opened up about his young life and how his father treated him.
    Any additional comments?
I am so glad I stuck with the book. Like I mentioned before the opening scene of the story did not catch my attention right away. I was very close to not finishing this book but the narrator kept me going. And I am glad I did. If you like the Zombie genre then this is definitely a good read. Can't wait for the next book.

    Publisher: Pendragon Cove Press
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 2 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Morgan le Fay, sixth-century Queen of Gore and the only major character not killed off by Mark Twain in A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, vows revenge upon the Yankee Hank Morgan. She casts a spell to take her to 1879 Connecticut, so she may waylay Sir Boss before he can travel back in time to destroy her world. But the spell misses by 300 miles and 200 years, landing her in the Washington, DC, of 2079, replete with flying limousines, hovering office buildings, virtual-reality television, and sundry other technological marvels.
Whatever is a time-displaced queen of magic and minions to do? Why, rebuild her kingdom, of course - two kingdoms, in fact: as Campaign Boss for the reelection of American President Malory Beckham Hinton, and as owner of the London Knights world-champion baseball franchise.
Written as though by the old master himself, King Arthur's Sister in Washington's Court by Mark Twain as channeled by Kim Iverson Headlee offers laughs, love, and a candid look at American society, popular culture, politics, baseball...and the human heart.

Laugh out loud, then think some deep thoughts
It's been far too long since we've had some Kim Iverson Headlee around here, so I was more than happy to sign up for the audio tour of a book I'd already loved. King Arthur's Sister in Washington's Court is her funniest book yet, and even if you've never read the Twain book which inspired this, you'll enjoy the humorous historical fantasy.
Political humor and social satire combine in Headlee's trademark style, infused with her roots as a lover of history and all things Arthurian. She has this way of making you forget that she wasn't the one who came up with these myths in the first place and truly writes with a unique perspective that delights readers with wit and wisdom.
Although I admit it took me some time to get used to the narrator, as she took a little bit to get into the groove, if you skip the introductory material on the audible version you will have much smoother sailing. There's so many accent changes between those that it gets a bit confusing and hard to understand, however, once the story gets going I think the narrator did very well in distinguishing between characters and really portraying the various emotions. How she managed to actually read through some parts without spitting and snort laughing I'll never know! Definitely a recommended audiobook for a car trip, or cooking, or whatever else you might like to do while you listen.
4 stars and my thanks to the author and tour host for the review opportunity!

    Publisher's Summary:
"We, along with the other 12 Arks, flying out to the far reaches of space are now the only remnants left of humanity. We are the chosen few for the world's only life rafts. We are Ark-13 and this is an S.O.S."
When Jake Hansen was selected by GENESIS for Ark-13, he didn't know what the new world would look like. He didn't that when he awoke from hyper sleep he would feel like a captive. He didn't know that GENESIS would remain on the bridge of the ship and in control of all resources. He didn't know that they would prosecute his fellow colonists for treason. He didn't know that his natural born rights would be abused. Jake didn't know that he would have to lead an insurrection to control the Ark - and the course of humanity along with it.
With constant intrigue and mystery, Ark-13 can best be described as Lost meets Interstellar. It carries a broad appeal, as the themes of the story center around the human condition, resilience, self-preservation, and technology's clash with nature.

    Revolution in Space
    3.5 / 5 for story
The description for this book mentions that "Ark-13 can best be described as Lost meets Interstellar". This is setting the expectations mark fairly high (at least in my opinion), something that I don't feel the book reached. I can see the Lost references to an extent, as the book has a mysterious corporation controlling things with the characters are trying to get answers from and is told both with the present and with flashbacks. But that's where the similarities end - there is no supernatural weirdness etc that is in Lost. This is one main mystery (around Genesis) not the perpetual strangeness and mystery of Lost. Part of that is probably due to length and what can be told in the short space of this book.
As for Interstellar... not so much. Unless you go with the bare minimum of they are in space and Earth is uninhabitable. That's about where the similarities end.
I could think of one very well known movie/book that this story is like, but even saying the name would be giant spoilers. So I won't.
The book follows Jake, who is part of the judicial system on Ark-13. The 13th of 13 arks used to save some of humanity from a destroyed Earth. When evidence appears that the ark controllers, GENESIS, are manipulating people and oppressing the population Jake investigates, while being pulled into a slowly forming rebellion.
The story is interesting and quick paced. The flashbacks - told through journal entries - eventually come to a point but for the majority of the book just serve to slow things and take away from the main story. There is pay off to them, but at least initially they are a drag (as much of a drag as a quick, short book can have - which isn't that much).
The story goes into a bit of discussion on the man/machine divide, with each person on the ark having a cybernetic implant. Are these being used to control people or report false data and thus convict innocent people? This is fairly interesting and weaved throughout the story.
The themes also touches on rule of law and rights of the individual. However with these there is no real discussion about them except that Jake takes the position of each person has right of x, y and z but never really questions where these rights come from.

    Publisher's Summary:
In the wake of a devastating plague, two communities emerge as bastions of survival. One is called the City, and its people scrabble for scraps in the wasteland. The other, New Charity, enjoys the bounty of its hydroelectric dam and refuses City denizens so much as a drop of precious water. When City-dweller Cressyda inherits her father's ranch within New Charity, she becomes intent on opening the dam to all - no matter the cost.
But when Syd reunites with her old best friend, Casandra, a born seer and religious acolyte, she realizes that her plans could destroy the fragile lives they've built in order to survive. What's more, the strange magic securing the dam's operations could prove deadly if disturbed. Yet when Syd discovers evidence that her father might have been murdered, she is more determined than ever to exact revenge on New Charity's corrupt.
Pitted against Cas, as well as her own family, Syd must decide how to secure the survival of both settlements without tipping them over the brink to utter annihilation. In this intense and emotional reimagining of the Trojan War epic, two women clash when loyalty, identity, community, and family are all put to the ultimate test.

    New Charity Blues Rules
First of all, kudos to Camille Griep in writing such a starkly different novel from debut Letters to Zell. I say this not because I disliked Letters to Zell; quite the opposite as you see from my reflections, more reflections , and review. (I pre-ordered New Charity Blues without knowing anything about it simply based on my love for Letters to Zell.) Rather, she avoided the temptation to play it safe and to be pegged as a certain kind of writer or the tried-and-true route of writing a sequel. Granted, this is still speculative fiction; there are, after all, magical elements, but her previous world was fantasy grounded in overlapping reality whereas this novel provides a gritty, post-apocalyptic reality with magical elements. Moreover, the overall tone is grittier (while remaining less dark than the prevalent writing fashion of the day) even as she deals with similar issues of community and individuality such as: Where do our roles and obligations start and stop and when does feeling obligated result from self-abuse? How do we communicate and remain connected in the midst of having made different/difficult choices over which others differ or disapprove? When does cooperation roll-over into selling out? As much as this book is about fighting the status quo, it also speaks to how we fight. How do we avoid adopting our enemys worst characteristics when there seems to be no other way to win? Finally, how the heck can a writer so deftly handle these humorous riffs on fairy tales and gritty post-apocalyptic tinged with hope stories? Seriously, if Ms. Griep was considered an up-and-coming writer before, New Charity Blues announces her as a force with which to be reckoned. Simply consider that she has pulled this 50+-year-old man into stories tied around twenty-something fairy tale princess and a twenty-something former ballerina (not a huge call for dance after the plague) and her friends.
As is my wont, I went between the Kindle and Audible versions of the book using that lovely Whispersync for Voice feature. The audiobook version is performed by Lauren Ezzo and Whitney Dykhouse alternating between the primary points of view of Cress and Cass. This works well.

    HAHA MICHELLE!!! GOOD STORY!!!!
Where does All Good Things rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
It was good...I am sorry the group had to end up like that though! :(
What was one of the most memorable moments of All Good Things?
The end, when Michelle gets what she deserves...she was just evil!
Have you listened to any of Scott Reed Birneys other performances before? How does this one compare?
The other books in this series...he did a good job!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
How Katherine fought for Veronica...even though Veronica could really hold her own....it was so kind of her...and how Andrew...rescues Veronica just in the nick of time!
    Any additional comments?
I liked this series...I just wish it would have been longer!!! I hate that the group had to suffer so much in the end...but Michelle finally got what she deserved....she was the worst kind of person to have with you in a zombie apocalypse! Clive and Veronica are safe for now, and I hope we get some sort of novella or something to tell us how they make it...Good closing book to this very entertaining zombie series!!
WELL WORTH YOUR TIME AND A CREDIT...I RECOMMEND THE WHOLE SERIES!!!
    Excellent series!
What a great series this has been! Stevie Kopas is an awesome author and Scott Birney does an excellent job with the narration! I couldn't put this down! I actually finished it all in a day! The series is a story of survival in the zombie apocalypse. Loved it!!!
    Finally!!
I have been waiting for this for so long after the cliff hanger of an ending from book 2, so when I got a copy, I dived right in!
I'm not going to say anything about the plot because I will spoil something, so all I'll say is it's incredibly fast paced and intense. What the author puts her characters through will make you gasp out loud and cry.

What if it all came crashing down?
In The Fall of America: Book 3, the battle for America rages on. John and his fellow partisans evolve from a rag-tag group of rebels into an organized force. Embarking on more challenging and dangerous missions, they target larger Russian installations. Using classic guerrilla war tactics, the resistance forces attack the gulag prisoner camps and Russian air bases.
But their efforts are not without casualties on both sides, and the Russians respond by instituting a campaign of brutal civilian massacres in reprisal. John's commitment is sorely tested when the Russians show an increasing knowledge of the rebel's plans and defenses. Could there be a traitor in their ranks? What sort of person could betray their fellow Americans?
Can the patriots discover the enemy within in time and put a stop to their treachery? Or will John and his wife, Sandra, join countless others who gave up their lives to the cause? For John, dying in the next battle for the South might be preferable to being captured and enduring a slow death in a Russian labor camp. Book three re-ignites the action and savagery of a struggle to regain America from foreign invaders.

    Brilliant and heart wrenching sequel
A brilliant, heartbreaking sequel to Defects. There is so much to say about this story I really don't know where to start. This audiobook tore my heart out and left it bleeding on the ground, both the writing and the narration portrayed perfectly the emotions felt by the characters, be it fear, sorrow, regret or acceptance of the inevitable. It not only made me cry once, but twice! The fight to overthrow Vider and stop the Defect conversation program continues to feature prominently in the storyline, it is suspenseful and action packed, but for me it is the relationships of the character that made this book standout. The characterization is excellent and the surprising and devastating twist at the end of the book leaves you breathless. As the story progresses you can not help but become even more invested in these characters lives, empathizing and associating with them. I love Nona's intelligence and humour, Ren's sarcasm, Zack's willingness to sacrifice and put his friends needs first, and of course, Em and Rouge's love. Their relationship is not a flash in the pan romance, as in most YA books, but rather it is one based on long term friendship and respect. You feel for them and want then to beat Vider, have a HEA and live out their lives in that little cottage in the woods. The complicated and often dysfunctional family relationships also adds depth to the book, Em's Farther and her sister, Dee, continue to become darker characters, betraying and manipulating at every turn. Rogues abusive farther, Vider, persists in his quest for power and in his need to destroy those who could challenge him, including Em and Rogue. On the other hand there is Tutu, Nona and, to some degree, Ren who are willing to put themselves at risk in order to support/help Em and Rogue. Rebels is a suspenseful and heart wrenching read with a great plot, surprising twists and a very well chosen narrator that is able to bring the characters to life and give them individual personalities. I can not wait for the next in the series. I received this audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.
    Not to be missed!

Wow. Don't start listening to this audio book series if you have anything to do that day. The story just consumed me. While this audio book didn't have as epic of a storyline as the last book in scope, it hit me much more emotionally. I mean, the whole book was more emotional for me not just THAT ENDING.
The last book left off with Em and Rogue fleeing to live in a little house away from Austin valley. They left Zack and Em's sister behind to start the revolution.

    The Cheerleader
Book 5 in the short ebook companion series to the Heroes Reborn TV show.
Claire Bennet is one of the main characters of the original Heroes shows. While she has died at the beginning of this current run, her actions helped to set the stage for most of what is happening. This installment tells what Claire was doing between jumping off the ferris wheel, and outing all of the evos) and the bombing of Odessa.
Claire can be seen as the linchpin of the Heroes stories. She was the cheerleader of the slogan, "Save the cheerleader, save the world". She put the evos in the spotlight of the world. Her protection was the motivation for HRG throughout most of the series. This book answers a lot of question that viewers of the show will have about what happened to Claire.
This is what the series should be doing. It gives pleny of background details without giving spoilers. I highly recommend this book for anyone that is watching the show.
    The Heroes return!
One thing....Peter came back!! And Sylar, and Mohinder, and a lot of the familiar faces got one last hurrah before the show starting killing the majority of them!
Peter didn't show up for too long in this book, but it was nice to know he still had an impact in the 5 years between the two shows. Read it; you won't be disappointed.
    Almost Perfect
For fans of 'Heroes' and 'Heroes Reborn,' this is almost perfect. You get to catch up with Claire (who is absent from the new season) and some other former characters. I just wish two mysteries (which were teased) had been resolved by the book's end. Maybe they were saving them for the show.
    Closure
So glad I was able to hear about my favorite characters of Heroes! It's all I could think about once Heroes Reborn started! Thanks so much for filling in the gap!! Loved it!!
