    Can't be the end!!!!
Been a fan of the series since I book one!! I truly hope that Mr. Gunserson returns.
    well writen
I've listened to all of the books in this series and I'm looking forward to the next one. the narration is very good. the characters are interesting and are believable, at least as believable as anything can be in a story about a Zombie apocalypse , and I'm interested in what happens to them next.
Let Down Compared to Previous Books
I am a huge fan of this series, but this book fell flat in a lot of ways for me. It was very slow and never really had any of the high points the other books brought. The ending was especially anticlimactic. I'm anxious to see if/where the story goes from here. However this segment felt much more like a filler than a book to stand on its own. On the plus side, great narration as usual.
    I want more
Loved this book so much now I'm chomping at the bit for more keep up the great work mr. Achord
All the books were Excellent to listen to.
From the Author to the Narrator they made all the books in this series worth listening to. I would follow Zack in a zombie apocalypse anytime.

Even better than the first one. Loved it!
This series is excellent! I can't wait for book three. There's a great mix of action and drama. The dialogue also fantastic. He really does a great job with character development which is hard to do with this type of genre. Everything played out in my head like a really good movie that you don't want to end. Basically a bio-weapon has been unleashed throughout the world and the Hunters are charged with saving what's left of humanity while stopping those that are infected, the skulls, from taking over the world. There's no need to read any more reviews. If you read the first one and liked it even a little. Then you'll love this one.
Exciting Ride Continues! Can't Wait for Next Book!
This series has it all. The exciting plot keeps me wanting to know what next. The science is intriguing and the question of who is doing this and how and why is compelling. I love the characters and I can't wait to begin next book.
    Great followup
I truly enjoyed the story. Hope to read the next real soon
4 stars give it a listen
    AWESOME!!!
Anthony doesn't disappoint AGAIN book #2 was stellar! In fact I am reading it again! His characters are so believable I find myself so engrossed I forget my surroundings!!
    zombie goodness with extra sauce
Would you consider the audio edition of Breakwater to be better than the print version?
yes, to be fair, I didn't read any of the books - just listen to them.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Breakwater?
When Dom was saved in the helocopter
Which character as performed by Ryan Kennard Burke was your favorite?
    Dom of course! My Hero
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    Hunters revenge!
    Any additional comments?
this is a great series, it's not too complicated but intelligently written & lots of fun (in a zombie take of the world kind of way).

    No plot.
Very weak Plot development. Like one of those action movies that's just fights and explosions for 90 minutes. It can work for a 90 minute movie, but it gets pretty old in a 9 hour book.
    Also totally lacked an ending.
Great idea with illogical and mediocre plot
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The setup and theme of gaming integration perspective had been interesting and has potential for many stories.
The main plot is the most distracting part of the book and broke the immersive theme completely. The plot made no sense and developed the story in a bubble not thinking of the implications of the technology and what would accompany the tech, resulting in a plot that had not been thoroughly thought out, going in a direction my mind would not follow.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator handled male voices relatively well with good range but female voices were flat and indistinguishable.
could have been so much better.
I found the plot line good, but the transitions and the character development lacking. I wanted to listen to the next two books in the series because of the positive reviews, but after this book I don't think I will.
    Truly Regrettable
    This is bad. Real bad.
I like video game books (and scifi/fantasy in general) but this has no reason to live in that genre. The premise is very weak to begin with, and then it teeters over the edge of not even needing to be a gaming book. It could very easily have just been science fiction and not have really missed anything important.
First, this book took itself really seriously from the start (which could be some of the narrator), way more than someone playing a video game would think/act.
Then there is the perspective... it was a trainwreck. At times it is very first person, then it would switch to the third person omniscient, and then for absolutely no reason the narrator breaks the fourth wall, for questions that basically amount to "Am I right?"
I've listened to several of the Russian Video game books (Alter World and Way of the Shaman) and while none are stellar, this one is a hard pass. HARD.
    Mediocre Cyberpunk
The story was written like a gamer decided to write a game novel and move through the story as though they were actually playing a game.

    "He saw me for me"
That line is when I knew this series was not for me. I've yet to read a ZA novel written by a women author that didn't eventually boil down to one of those adult romance novels your mom used to read, with some zombies every now and again.
Seriously there's an entire section of this book that sounds like a story about Stockholm syndrome and the romantic implications there in. Leading to a very graphic sex scene that makes it impossible for me to share this with friends and family. Half forgot I was even listening to a zombie novel.
The main character is annoying her love interest is one step above the "guys from twilight" all brooding and mysterious and what not. And the other characters are completely forgettable and poorly portrayed.
Finally the authors catchphrases are blaring throughout. Two of which include "my mind was happy to supply." And "what felt like a small eternity"
Just to clarify I don't consider this book to be utter garbage, just not for me. And now you know why.
very good start to a series
the first book covers how the virus is created
I really wish the author would have cut out a lot of this. felt like the focus of this book was the relationship between the two main characters. going to try the next book and see if it gets better promising series if the focus on zombies
Believe the bad reviews, it was hideously bad
Mind numbing, tedious and I hoped the main characters would be killed. There were a handful of zombies and no action until the last 45 minutes. The rest was filled with laboratory boring stuff and one unsexy sex scene. Not Steamy. I knew this book was bad when in the first 30 minutes we are told she could be very important to the kidnappers cause, and yet they try to shoot at her almost killing her a few times. If I were a lesbian I would find this book somewhat offensive. In the beginning she is in a relationship with a woman but in the end she ends up with a hot guy saying that her being a lesbian was college curiosity or some nonsense like that. I hated this book and took how bad it was personally. I did my due diligence I read the description, some good and some bad reviews I thought maybe this will be a 3 star because the premise sounded so interesting and the sample was promising.

An OUTSTANDING Story Line Excellent Military SF!
Where does Crusade rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Up at the top, David Weber is a premier Military SF writer. These books were written about 15 years ago, and Crusade, In Death Ground and The Shiva Option were the limit until Exodus came out, which marks a different turn to the series.
What other book might you compare Crusade to and why?
Written with the same standard as the best Honor Harrington books. Great character development. You come to really like and respect Admiral Anton and Admiral/Senator/Former president Anderson. The interplay with Kathara the orion with Admiral Anton is very interesting as 2 different views of Honor and culture clash.
Have you listened to any of Marc Vietors other performances before? How does this one compare?
I don't recall ever hearing him but he is an excellent story teller, giving life to this favorite series I have waited so long to be able to hear.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
"Intrigue, Suspense, and a Battle of Epic Scale across the Stars" This series would be an excellent basis for a TV series or a movie series. There is enough time and depth to make a series of movies that would be very entertaining.
    Any additional comments?
Starfire is a great series I cannot emphasize enough. It was a great read when they first came out, and I have waited years to hear it. The storytelling by the narrator is full flavored, with great character development and clear audio clues as to who is which character. An excellent rendition of an excellent book!
    action packed space opera
Not sure if this is book one of the Starfire series or book two. Audible has it as book one and Amazon as book two. I enjoyed the Honor Harrington series; so thought I would give this one a try.
Weber is noted for his military science fiction adventures. In this book the Terran Federation is confronted by a new enemy that might have some relationship with a lost Terran fleet in the distant past. Weber tossed out some familiar names such as Manticore and Saint-Just, which were also used in the Honor series.
Apparently this series was written 1992 before the Honor Series. I do not think it is as well written as the Honor series, but I might go on and read book number two in the series.

One of my favorite all time military sci-fi
What did you love best about In Death Ground?
Detailed Battles, but not to the extent where it become repetitive. A use of past tense to cover some battles is refreshing.
Which character as performed by Marc Vietor was your favorite?
He has some excellent voices for many of the characters.
    Amazing
One of my favorite books. I have read it 3 times and when I so it on Audile I had to get it. The narrator has is amazing and does a great job.
    Great Book
If you could sum up In Death Ground in three words, what would they be?
The narration was great and it was a well developed story. I plan on getting all the books in the series.
They did it again, a great second title
David Weber and Steve White have created a second installment for the Starfire series. Believable action, reactions, and consequences which even the main actors can't escape. So good I just purchased book three in the series.
book gave me chills. incredibly well written.
incredibly well written. narration and plot develop characters and a sense of yriumph or loss when something happens. the sense of scale and impending doom is etched into the plot and its a ride. a real ride.

After fighting the Khanate - with the Fringe Worlds to supply the raw material and the fighting men - the Inner Worlds found it hard to give up the powers they had seized during the war. So they decided not to - rather than allow the rapidly expanding Fringe Worlds representation in the Federation, they are inviting the Khanate in, to keep the colonial upstarts in their place. The Fringers have only one answer to that: insurrection.

First Novel WRITTEN, fourth novel in TIMELINE
If youve listened to books by David Weber and Steve White before, how does this one compare?
This one is by far the "roughest" and "most politically focused" of the books I have read so far. It was really not as good (in my opinion) as Crusade, In Death Ground, or The Shiva Option. HOWEVER I learned later that this book was written FIRST. So a lot of things feel out of place and not as polished as previous books. Just go into this one knowing that it was their first
    Any additional comments?
    dont start here.
    Solid Military SciFi
This is pretty solid military sci-fi. It focuses pretty fairly on all sides and gives a great overall view while showcasing the heroism of humanity in general. Well written and worth a read.
not as good as I expect
the thought that a underdeveloped region could come up with inventions a fully staffed research region hadn't is absurd.
    Too much politics and tangents
Would you try another book from David Weber and Steve White and/or Marc Vietor?
At times they write good books, but with this one they failed. Too many tangents. Of the 14 hours only about 20 minutes were of the "can't stop now".
What was most disappointing about David Weber and Steve White s story?
    Sick of politics!
What about Marc Vietors performance did you like?
He is always superior in his renditions.
Did Insurrection inspire you to do anything?
    Yes, discard the story.
    Any additional comments?
I hope the series gets better, this book was a bust.
    Insurrection
A book the draws you in that sales you beyond a shadow of a doubt. A true story of what greed can lead to even the main advance science fiction world.

Only the dazzling imagination of Tim Powers could have assembled such an insane cast of characters: an ancient Egyptian sorcerer; a modern millionaire; a body-switching werewolf; a hideously deformed clown; a young woman disguised as a boy; a brainwashed Lord Byron; and our hero, Brendan Doyle. The Anubis Gates took the fantasy world by storm a decade ago, and now fans can savor this Philip K. Dick Award winner all over again.

Yesterday All My Troubles Seemed So Far Away
The Anubis Gates wasmany years agomy first exposure to the phantasmagorical writings of Tim Powers. I remember being struck by the uniqueness of his take on the fantasy genre; such intricate and convoluted plotting; such bizarre complexities of magical interactions; such wonderfully madcap characters. Now listening to it after these many years I am struck by the same impressions again. In the interim, I have read and listened to several other Tim Powers novels. All his works have in common the same baroque complexities of plotting and workings of magic; all are populated by the most weirdly wonderful characters.
The Anubis Gates employs time travel as an essential element of the story. I am a particular fan of time travel; once having spent an entire year reading all manner of time travel stories. As part of that year-long reading excursion into the temporal unknown I encountered the critical work on the subject: Time Machines by Paul J. Nahin. In his book Mr. Nahin sets forth a means of categorization for time travel stories. The time travel in The Anubis Gates must, according to Nahin, be classified as Fantasy and not Science Fiction because it does not employ a machine to accomplish the temporal displacement. More importantly, all the best time travel stories revolve around the idea of predestination: Can we change the past of alter the future? Nahin speculates that if time travel is possible then nothing can be changed because it already happened the way it happened. This has become to be called Nahin Approved. In this requirement at least, The Anubis Gates is Nahin Approved. The past cannot be changed. This feature becomes a plot element and the source of several ingenious twists that provide a great deal of fun.
The narration can often make, or break, an audiobook. In the case of The Anubis Gates the writing is top notch and the book needs no narration to make it an enjoyable experience. It stands as a great book even before being produced as an audiobook. Enter Bronson Pinchot, arguably the best narrator in the business, and this already fine book becomes an entertainment unsurpassedfew equals and no superiors. Books like this are, for me, the reason I listen to audiobooks. Pinchot is allowed to flex his vocal cords on this one; voicing the many bizarre and otherworldly characters in amazing fashion. Such is his talent that I cannot imagine how a full cast of actors, hired to give a portrayal of each individual character, could possibly be any improvement. Pinchot is the proverbial one-man-show! He can portray men, women and magically altered time-jumping Gypsies with equal aplomb.

Amazing book based off a video game
This is honestly the bees knees. Made me fall in love with Elite Dangerous again!
    Great story
Enjoyed every moment of this story, and learned a lot about the deeper lore of the Elite universe. a cast of characters just big enough to keep it interesting, but not so many that you lose track of who is who. Wonderful mix of high tech 33rd century and Renaissance technology and society. Loved the political intrigue woven into the plot, and while the writing did have a few brief moments where it got a bit stilted and repetitive, Toby Longworth's performance (and the background SFX/music) really shine. Highly recommended to any fans of the Elite universe, and to anyone who enjoys grand space opera in general.
Good story with a few problems.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and it's overall plot, but I admit that I had a few issues with some of the writing. The author uses the phrase, and/or subtle variations of the phrase, "in a smooth and practiced manner", entirely too many times throughout the story, as well as the word "crescendo". They are effective in describing that which the author is trying to convey, but the repeated usage of such words and/or phrases feel forced and not natural. There are also a couple of segments that have holes, so to speak, simple honest mistakes if you will. For example, Dalk(?) grabs onto the edge of the loading ramp to pull himself up and in to the shop, as the ramp closes. Then Salome(?) shoots at him, he dodge-rolls out of the way and behind something..... while onboard the ship, but the next thing you know.... he's standing up and on the tarmac, NOT in the ship. The ramp was closed, how did he roll off the ship? One could argue that the story didn't specifically state that the ramp was "closed", but this part of the story is written in such a way that it suggests that the ramp closes quickly, given the struggle between Hassan(?) and Salome, and that Dalk had to jump up and grab onto the edge of the ramp in order to pull himself in. It feels like the ramp was closing quickly, and that Dalk barely made it in.
The author writes some very good characters! You like the characters you should, and you hate the characters you know you should hate, as they are written. Various events in the story also get under your skin in that.... "oh no they didn't just do that to her" kind of way. The Fed Commissioner telling the Imperial ambassador that 'Federation law allows them to invoke martial law in any Federation or Imperial system...'.

    Engaging and Thrilling
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, it's an excellent read and very informative of the lore. The book is well written and it hooks you right in from the very beginning. Out of all the Elite books I have read, this one was the most exciting. The story is very engaging, and has a lot of action and mystery. I did feel some things were a little drawn out near the middle of the book, but it is definitely worth a full read. I actually plan on listening to it a second time to look for parts I may have missed.
What did you like best about this story?
What I loved most about the story is the same thing I hated most about the story.
And that would be the fate of Soontill. I believe Robert Garry made the wrong choice and may have very well endangered us all.
    Any additional comments?
If I ever find Robert Garry in the game, I will kill him for his crimes against humanity.
    great book
outstanding performance of the actor and the elite world can bring many more amazing stories
    Awesome book
This is a great story! And as a player of the game this book is about, all I can say is, "Damn good!".
    Wonderful production
    Any additional comments?
Great story that is well written and well read. The sound and production design is top notch and really puts you in the Elite universe.
The only criticism I have is the echo filter laid on top of all the dialogue. Conversations all sound like they're happening inside a public bathroom regardless of wether they take place inside a ship or on the surface of planet. The result is a feeling of distance from the characters that sacrifices the intimacy of the readers full voice for extra, and in my opinion, unneeded SFX. It's a minor annoyance that I eventually got used to. Overall, very high quality.
    Marvellous
A great story of epic proportions. A true joy to listen to. Excellent narration and the added sound assests sold me on the story 100 percent. Would reccomend to any Elite fan or even those intrested in epic Sci Fi in general. HUZZAH
