In this week’s podcast, we’ve put your questions to the Professionals here at NCRE to understand the DOs and DON’T when investing in commercial property in today’s economic climate.

Here are a few juicy questions that we asked our experts:

  1. What lessons can investors learn from the 2008/09 recession that investors can apply now in the current economic situation?
  2. What investment strategies are going to work in the next 12-18 months?
  3. When is the right time to invest in property and what are your general thoughts on the prices?

    4. So, without spoiling all the fun here are a few insights from today's podcast:

    1. Stay calm and take a long-term view when investing. There are going to be a huge amount of people panicking, but there are also going to be a huge number of opportunities as a result. REMEMBER you make your money when you buy!
    2. Communication with the commercial tenants is paramount. Working collaboratively with them and providing them with solutions like assigning or subletting and offering additional tenants and guarantors and keeping in mind three keywords, FAIR, FIRM, and INVENTIVE.
    3. It is impossible to time the market. REMEMBER as Warren Buffett said: ‘Time in the market is better than timing the market’
