Before the end of the day, somebody is going to assign a task for you to complete. Ask you for a personal favor. Request that you do something that wasn't in your plan.
So, if you want to stay focused on your path, how should you respond?
Certainly, you can't say no to everybody. However, there is a way to deflect and re-direct much of that distracting energy in another direction - without throwing up blocks.
The next time somebody makes a request of you, try using a "Yes, AND" statement such as, "Yes, I would be happy to help, and would it be okay if I got back to once I finished my current project?"
Using this simple modification and re-direction is a great way to say no without coming across as negative. You'll remain focused no matter who interrupts you, and begin to build a reputation as a positive but decisive individual - the kind everybody wants to hang around.
You'll also end up with far less on your plate. BOOM!
