If you go shopping for things for your home in bigger online stores make sure to put the FILTERS to good use. And you should use the “filter” principle no matter where you shop.

The more you have decided BEFORE you go shopping the easier your shopping trip will be. Let's say you are shopping for a coffee table. Know the measurements of the space you are going to put it in. Know the shape of the table you want. Have an idea of the material you are looking for. Then you can go into a shopping experience and only look for those specific things! Filter out the thousand other choices!

Don't doubt yourself. Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever does!!!!! Be fearless!

Don't be afraid to try new things!

Look for home decor items that speak to you. Then look at the price. Price is certainly a consideration. We all have budgets but love something first!

Always do your homework before you shop. This will help you avoid the "I love everything too much" syndrome!

Do not purchase a big ticket item when you are in the I-just-want-to-get-something-new-for-my-house mood! You will not make the right choice!

If you are in the "thick of the hunt" and are getting totally overwhelmed... stop! Leave and get a cup of coffee and a little nosh. Get your blood pressure back to normal! And take 15 minutes to regroup. Then head back to shop for your home! You don't have to go home defeated!

If you are not a big shopper, upscale what you have. You can paint and "find a guy" who can slipcover or reupholster what you have. And this works for finding vintage pieces too!

Get out of the store aisles that don't carry what you are looking for! If you are looking for a three-tiered tray please don't head for the gourmet aisle until you have found that three-tiered tray you are looking for!
