About Howard Behar Howard Behar served as President of Starbucks North America for 21 years and became the founding President of Starbucks International, opening the first store outside North America in Japan. During his tenure, Starbucks grew from 28 stores to over 15,000 across five continents. He later served on the Starbucks Board of Directors for twelve years.
