A continuation of our series on motivation, Hrag discusses journalism, the art world we need to be focusing on, why Hyperallergic exists, and who’s subsidizing who! We go through who got PPPs and Alexis’s Tumblr glory days. This is an instant classic. TUNE IN AND GAIN KNOWLEDGE! Alexis and Erika speak with Camille Bien. Trained as an installation artist, Camille used her arts education and became an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. We talk about the traumas of art school, the endless "why's" in crits, and how we found coping mechanisms. Which incidentally is being part of a community and sharing our feelings. This is an INCREDIBLE episode for the times but also forever. How we make our choices and how we support ourselves is so critical and Camille brings amazing insight into these processes.

We actually recorded this episode with the incomparable Reena Devi back in Christmas 2020 but, the audio was misplaced! Reena is busy! We couldn't get her back! We mourned! THEN Alexis did some digital spring cleaning and found it - so here we go! In this INCREDIBLY nourishing episode, Reena talks about the importance of research, comprehensive context and why she is like the Hulk...but not in the way you think!

Have you ever looked at those round ups of grants or residency or other artist opportunities and think "this isn't a lot of opportunities" or "these are all kind of whack"? So did Nathalie Quagliotto and she decided to do something about it! She started an email list (you can sign up here!) and puts together and sends out REGULARLY hundreds of opportunities, culled, curated, sifted, and color coded so everyone can see how many, where, and not a dud among them! It's an incredible service, she's an incredible human, and we are ALL VERY LUCKY that she decided to take this on for us! Listen in and FREAK OUT!
