Tesla stock soared 21% today after a monster Q3 earnings beat. It was a big day for the portfolio. But something wasn't right ... I was still stressing because of my Airbnb options position. So I had to make the tough call to sell my options for a small gain and roll the position into plain, old, boring Airbnb equity. A prudent move in the long term I believe, and one that will serve my sanity. I realize I've been flip flopping like crazy with options, but that is what it is. Cheers to a good day in the portfolio I guess ....

With US election just two weeks away, tensions are heating up. This could drive significant market volatility in the short term. Tesla's 10/10 We, Robot event in Los Angeles, CA looked insane. After just watching the livestream, my FOMO is pumping. The haters will say the timeline is slow, but we just saw the future. Mini Cybertruck robotaxis, Cybercabs, and Robovans ... Optimus robots walking around the party and serving drinks.

EVs are more like computers than cars. Early data is showing they can last 500,000+ miles, much further than the legacy gas cars they are disrupting. This is setting the state for an unprecedented change in the transportation economy, where ride sharing and autonomy become the norm over individual car ownership. With Waymo expanding rapidly, and Tesla on the cusp of a major self-driving announcement on 10/10, things are heating up ...

Tesla's earnings are hot off the press! Revenue of $25.5B (+2.3%) and profits of $1.6B. On the earnings call CEO Elon Musk stressed the importance of FSD, and how its set to transform Tesla's business. He confirmed the Robotaxi unveiling will be on 10/10, and provided an update on Optimus, saying it will begin Version 1 production in 2025, and Version 2 production to outside customers in 2026. Overall the call was a little boring. We are in a quiet/chill period for Tesla until 2025 when the cheaper model & robotaxi launch. I think a big catalyst may be brewing with another OEM licensing Tesla's FSD. What are your thoughts on the quarter??

Back on the lake in 90+ degree heat in Seattle pondering Tesla stocks zoom to $250+ per share, and $800B valuation. In this episode I explain my metaphor for analyzing stocks as Pokemon to understand businesses, and layering that framework to understand Tesla. The trifecta of technology pillars that Elon & squad have developed (battery and driving train, self driving & mass market sustainable manufacturing) are combining to disrupt transportation, energy and soon labor (with the Optimus robot). Owning Tesla equity is owning a basket of technologies that are only getting more relevant and whose monetization is on the cusp or ramping dramatically. There is no other way I want to store my hard earned guap, and that is why Tesla stock is still my #1 position and largest investment holding (I've been a shareholder for 13+ years now).
