I Hate Green Beans with Lincee Ray

Here we are at Week 2 of Peter the Pilot’s Bachelor journey to find love and we already have a gate. CHAMPAGNEGATE. 

It was the popped cork heard around the world and the unfortunate GIF of Kelsey that will never die. 

This week Some Guy in Austin and I carefully choose our jet setters, first class upgrades, and the ones who need to check their emotional baggage. 

I’d like to warn you that this episode is full of puns. As a former world famous jungle cruise skipper, I’d ask that you respect the craft. There’s also a lovely surprise at the very very very end if the show. I’m calling it: A Moment With Mama. 

Fasten your seatbelts, people. We’re serving stolen champagne and it might get bumpy.

Week 1 of Peter the Pilot’s Bachelor journey was jam packed, am I right? Not only did we witness some cringe-worthy icebreakers as a handful of women embarrassed themselves on the freshly-sprayed mansion driveway, but we had the privilege of witnessing Peter make out with half the cast during the cocktail party.

Eight women were sent home on night one. Of these were all three flight attendants, a desperate woman with hairless cat photo and another with a diary cow named Ashley P.

Never fear, dear reader. Anyone who displayed her boobs loud and proud, or showed even a hint of crazy was immediately gifted a long-stemmed red rose and a ticket to lay around a pool in her bikini for the foreseeable future. 

Also, Hannah Brown has returned. Some Guy in Austin and I discuss if this is a stunt driven by producers or if Hannah is suffering from FOMO. Now that she won the Dancing with the Stars mirror ball trophy, her 15 minutes of fame is dwindling and the only chance she has to remain the ABC darling is to romantically pursue her number three choice. 

Will she stay? Will she go? Will the women find out that Peter is head-over-heels in love with this woman and therefore, forgo their chances to become social media influencers? 

Fasten your seatbelts, people. The Beast is back. And she’s wielding her power at every turn. And at every windmill.

Hey everyone,

When searching for a source that breaks down sports in an easy to understand way, Amy and Scott couldn’t find anything, so they created it. I love that about them! They give you short, sweet, entertaining sports content that is delivered via a triweekly email publication and weekly podcast. And according to them, finding love on TV is a sport, too. 

I agree. The Bachelor is the Super Bowl of finding love. 

Each week, Some Guy and I will cross our fingers and assign roses to the ladies who may have a future with our Bachelor. We would love for y’all to play along! Picking favorite movies from the decade was a hive-inducing activity for my friend Todd. He had so many Oscar-nominated films to sift through and had a hard time painstakingly analyzing what deserved his recommendation for IHGB podcast listeners.

I, on the other hand, had a much tougher job. Do you know how many musicals and sort-of-romances have hit the big screen since 2010?

So many, my friends. So many. But I was able to narrow it down to ten. Ryan Gosling had a lot to do with my decision-making process. And Chris Pine.

Although show runners haven’t officially included photos and bios of Peter’s pack of ladies on the ABC website, I decided to take matters into my own hands and do a little digging myself. I’ve been doing this for sixteen years. You people, my lovely readers, expect me to be in the know!

Of course, I’m never in the know. I don’t like spoilers and I rarely choose the person standing across from the bachelor/bachelorette at the Home Depot proposal pedestal at the end of this amazing journey. But because I’m a professional and adore you, I did what anyone in my position would do. I stalked Instagram.

Some Guy in Austin and I discuss all thirty-three women and give our recommendations on which lovely ladies should be in your office Bachelor bracket. To no one’s surprise, our selections are very different. He bases his picks on looks. I base mine on Instagram followers. I think my way is the best way.

Then again, what do I know?!

It’s my first holiday segment of our It’s a Love Story series and I’ll let you in on a little secret: Lara and I have been waiting to talk about this movie for YEARS. Way back in episode #4, we talked about our favorite big screen love stories and Lara wanted to feature The Holiday. I asked her to wait until December. Then not one but TWO Decembers rolled by and I forgot both times. 

So here we are, giddy over the fact that we get to swoon over Jude Law and Jack Black.

That’s right, I said Jack Black. Lara has a crush. Which is understandable and also lucky for me because that means I can have Mr. Napkin Head all to myself. 

The Holiday taught us that Santa Ana winds are magical and that we should befriend old spry Jewish men if at all possible. Additionally, when a drunken man bangs on the door of your holiday home exchange cottage, you should answer it. Don’t be afraid of the handsome, bespeckled man on the other side. 

He’s a major weeper.

Hey everyone!

I’m so glad you are tuning into this very important episode. There are several news stories that have wiggled their way into my subconscious, so I asked Some Guy in Austin to help me process through my emotions of what all this means to my life.

We are back to celebrate another romantic comedy in my “It’s a Love Story” series, sponsored by my book conveniently titled, “It’s a love story.” This is our ELEVENTH romcom, which is so awesome. And I don’t plan on retiring the series anytime soon. 

In this episode, comedian extraordinaire Kerri Pomarolli and I discuss the 1986 cult classic Pretty in Pink. This movie taught us that we should learn to sew, and how your earrings don’t have to match, and that flirting on a Commodore 64 is endearing. It taught us that Jon Cryer lip syncing Otis Redding withstands the test of time.

And most importantly, we learn that there are candy machines in the girls’ bathroom.
