I Hate It But I Love It

This week, we're talking about the cult film PHANTASM! We talk about great kid performances, plot beats that are lifted wholesale from Dune, and haircuts that Kat would love to "fix". This episode brought to you by MasterClass. With classes on a variety of topics, all taught by world class masters at the top of their fields. Fantastic for yourself and as a gift. This week, we're talking about Kat's new favourite movie, MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE. We talk about how cocaine and artistry do not mix, question what the hell the machines' plan was, and Kat does her utmost to get cancelled. This week, we're kicking off Spooky Scary Movie Month with Oz Perkins' LONGLEGS! We discuss a marketing campaign that helped and hurt the film, try to figure out how we feel about Nicolas Cage (both in the movie and just, y'know, in general), and Kat makes a joke that she loves and Jocelyn loathes. This week, Kat and Jocelyn discuss Tom Hanks' masterpiece (sort of) THAT THING YOU DO! We talk about working with 16 year olds, ice cream law, and Kat shocks Jocelyn to her very core. This week, Kat and Jocelyn discuss the improbable Will Smith hit, HANCOCK! We discuss super sad plotlines, the fact that this was written by (of all people) VINCE GILLIGAN, and Kat makes a confusing comparison. This episode brought to you by MasterClass. This week, it's a film Kat saw probably too young whilst accompanied by her parents: Sneakers! We talk about a stacked and super charming cast, praise our beloved Mary McDonnell, and Jocelyn professes her undying hatred of anagrams. This week, Kat and Jocelyn talk about Flight Plan -- another movie that makes no sense if you think about it even remotely a little! We talk about how this movie is Gaslighting: The Film, wish that this movie had gone so much more crazy, and question how SERIOUSLY no one on this plane saw a kid come on board (c'mon. C'MON). Produced by Andrew Ivimey as part of The From Superheroes Network Visit www.FromSuperheroes.com for more podcasts, articles, video series, web comics, and more.

This week, Kat and Jocelyn discuss the Edward Norton thriller Primal Fear! (Other people are in it too, but let's be real, it's all about Edward Norton's character). We talk about a plot that falls apart when you ask a single question, praise the late, great Andre Braugher, and talk about Kat's DEEP distrust of a Richard Gere character and maybe also Richard Gere. Produced by Andrew Ivimey as part of The From Superheroes Network Visit www.FromSuperheroes.com for more podcasts, articles, video series, web comics, and more.

This week, Kat and Jocelyn are joined by very special guest Kyah Green of The Fandom Show to discuss OPPENHEIMER! We discuss a third act that's weirdly a whodunit (in... a biopic based on historical events?), a score that blasts you through the back wall, and discuss Christopher Nolan's surprising connection to a late, great SNL character. This week, Kat and Jocelyn discuss the mega-cheesy adaptation of THE OUTSIDERS! We talk about haircuts that disguise NOTHING AND NO ONE, Tom Cruise intensity even in a tiny part, and how this movie begins and ends with Kat's least favourite thing.
