A bill proposed by Gov. Dunleavy has me conflicted. While I love the thought of me getting 10 acres of land for a "recreational cabin" preferably to hunt moose or something in the interior, will I be able to afford good land? Will I be able to afford to get to it? What are the unintended consequences of putting public hands into private hands? And yes, there is a nice swamp by Skwentna.
Outdoor Life writer and Tundra Talk host Tyler Freel and I talk about grizzly bear hunting, processing black bear, archery, protecting public land and how some hunts never get old.

Spring showed up all of a sudden, so there is more than enough to do. The black bears will start to emerge, grouse season will be peaking and of course, spring steelhead will be hot. For those who don't live here, it's these shoulder months that make this place absolutely irresistible. No one is going to come up here for hooter season, unless you're filming a show, but if you're local, it's just one of the many things that make the cold, dark winters worth it. Also, buy my book and keep this podcast free.

Ordered some new podcasting stuff and of course, it "may be lost" according to Amazon. So in this episode I talk about the mail, old school mail, and other Alaskan podcasts.

Telling the Alaska story is a multi-million dollar industry, but often it's "produced" by people who don't live here year long. I love Alaska shows, books, and hunting trips filmed by people who live in the Lower 48, but there is a lot that's missed. That's why I started this podcast in 2017 and why I wrote my book. Pre-order the Kindle version of my book A Miserable Paradise on Amazon. Paperbacks will be released April 8, the same day the Kindle version will upload to your devise. This is the hardest I've worked on anything and my best work.
