Limiting beliefs are tricky things.
And far too often, unseen cultural influences and societal norms hold us back from true success.
We are taught not to stand out, not to make others uncomfortable, not to admit that we’re good at what we do.
Don’t shine too bright! The world says.
Well I’m over that - or trying to be. :)
See - I’ve had my share of those moments too.
Now I’m pushing back.
I want you to shine brighter.
I will too.
Let’s talk. Listen to the episode.

It’s rare that anyone tells us what it really takes to run a private practice. In fact, the whole concept of business ownership may be a bit of a mystery - and that’s a sad fact.
So some really gifted healers avoid opening a practice - starting a business - because the whole idea feels so intimidating to them. And yet, the world needs what they have to offer…
And others dive-in wholeheartedly only to find out that the hours are long, the pay maybe not so great, and the responsibility is way more than they were ready for.
This matters.
Knowing what you’re getting into can help you make a better decision for sure, but it can also help you avoid - or at least understand - some of the challenges that you’re bound to face when you hang out a shingle.
So let’s talk about some of the more common reasons why you might NOT want to start a practice first.
Besides, it's good to know what you’re getting into, right?
Of course it is. 😉
~Wendy

P.S. If you’ve been in practice for a while, what would you say about this to another healer who was thinking of making the leap? Do you agree with what I’ve shared here? What else would you add to it?

Be honest with me here. :)
How much time do you spend searching for files on your computer?
And how often do you have to recreate documents, letters or other content for clients in your practice?
Let’s face it. We live in a world where virtually everything we want, need or create is housed somewhere on our phones, tablets and computer.
But lord knows where. 🙄
If you can’t find the intake form or the self-regulation handout you need when you need it, well - that’s doesn’t help you much, does it?
So as part of our year-end wrap up, let’s do a little digital decluttering.
Let’s clean up your digital office, and make room for the good stuff you’re going to do in 2024.
In this episode you’ll hear:
And more.
One cautionary note…
If you’re a spontaneous, living-in-the-moment, deeply intuitive and creative healer, you may find yourself resisting the whole idea of ‘organizing’ your digital life.
But don’t.
Cleaning up your computer, and getting systems in place that make it easier for you to function, is exactly what will free up your energy to do the kind of creative work you love so much.
And isn’t that what an Ideal Practice is all about?
Yeah.
Give it a listen.
~Wendy
P.S. If it feels like a drag to work through the 5 steps I’ve laid out here, just pick ONE and make yourself do that sometime in the next 2 weeks. Put it on your calendar. Go to the trouble. Free up your energy - and maybe, your money too!
P.P.S. If you enjoyed this episode, could you share this with a friend? That would be EVER so awesome. Thank you! 🙏

Whether you’re a planner, or someone who likes to figure things out as you go, this episode is for you.
In today’s episode, I’ll share 5 clarifying questions that can help guide your success in 2024. Taking the time to think through each of them will set the stage for the work you want to do in 2024.
If you’re more of a big picture kind of person, this will give you a general framework to work within for the whole year.
But even better - your answers to these questions can also set the stage for specific goals you want to reach, specific strategies you might want to employ, and specific ways you want your practice to grow next year.
Although the questions themselves seem simple, the answers you come up with are important. So do take the time to think about this carefully.
And if you’ll send me an email, I’d love to hear what you come up with!

ANNOUNCEMENT! 📣
2024 ON-PURPOSE ©
On FRIDAY, December 8, I’m hosting a comprehensive planning retreat online for therapists and other healers who want to grow their practice WITH purpose, ON purpose in 2024.
Each year, I lead my private coaching clients through a December planning exercise designed to take them much farther than simple goal setting.
Using the 7 Pillars of an Ideal Practice(c) as our guide, we take a close look at what they’ve already accomplished, and where there’s room to grow. With specific targets and goals in hand, we then map out a plan for implementation.
In just a few hours, they move from vision to intention to implementation, and it’s pretty exciting!
Because by the time we finish, they have a roadmap for next year, and know exactly where to focus as they grow their practice.
Now, for the first time ever, I’m opening up that experience to the public. And I’d love for you to come. 💞
Click the link below to register. Do it this week and get it for less than half price!
When: Friday, December 8, 2023 from 1:00 - 4:00 eastern / 12-3 Central, 10-1 Pacific.
Where: Zoom link will be emailed to you upon registration.
Registration Fee: Use the coupon code “IDEAL100” (case sensitive, one word) to get $100 OFF the regular ticket price of $197*. (That's awesome!)

So here’s the thing.
Building an Ideal Practice(c) doesn’t happen by accident; it requires a lot of thought, self-awareness, courage and clarity.
That said, when you take the time to set intentional goals for where you want to go as a practice owner, you will actually get somewhere. :)
But don’t wait for January…because next year starts now.
Your next level of success starts now.
Gulp. 😳
In this episode we’ll explore what that means, and I’ll tell you how to get your free copy of the Declaration of Intention below.
Working through the 5 questions you find there will set the stage for bigger goal planning later.
And we’ll be talking about THAT soon too!

In an obvious nod to Halloween, I thought it was a great time to revisit one of my most popular episodes.
So today, let’s take another look at the 7 most common fears that healers tend to face in private practice.
Although we all want what’s best for our clients, we are often shamed or judged when we want what’s best for ourselves. That sets us up for all kinds of internal conflict, and that can block our success.
On the other hand, when we find our way through and beyond those fears, real freedom is on the other side.
So that’s what we’re diving into today.
Which one (or three) of these do you relate to the most?
Send me an email at [email protected] and let me know. I promise to respond personally, and I’d love to hear!

One of the greatest benefits of owning your own business is that you have the freedom and flexibility to adjust as needed when life gets a little crazy.
But running a practice can also be especially challenging when the hard times happen.
How do you keep things going when you’re being pulled in too many directions?
Well, I’ve been through some of that myself lately (and not for the first time), so I thought I’d share a few tips with you.
In this episode, we’ll talk about how to prepare for those inevitable moments when life gets in the way: financially, emotionally, and even physically.
But I’ve also got a few reminders of important things to remember when you aren’t prepared at all, and you’re just doing the best you can to get through.
It’s been a little like that lately for me, which has reminded me how important this is. I hope some of these tips will make a similar period easier for you.
Take good care,
~Wendy
