Savannah Smiles is a now obscure movie from 1982. It’s about a couple of formerly incarcerated individuals (very, VERY recently incarcerated) on the run from the law when a little girl sneaks into their car. Now they’re stuck taking care of her! What? They can’t just abandon Savannah. They’re not monsters!

I had never heard of this movie.

Luckily that’s what I had this week’s guest for! Returning guest Gretchen Krull (@gretchenkrull) is here to introduce us all to a little girl and warm our hearts.

And it works! This movie is delightful! Now let’s introduce it to a new generation with a wonderful remake about happy families where no one is inspired to run away by a piece of popular culture!

This week we’re remaking what is already an ideal remake! The Al Pacino Scarface that we all know if a remake of a movie from 1932! And THAT was an adaptation from a book! And since we neither read the book, nor watched the original, we are remaking the remake baby!

Because after all, the world is OURS!

Scarface is an incredible movie for a lot of different reasons and it has certainly made its mark on popular culture. Luckily this week’s guest can really help me cut to the core of what it represents and how its composed.
