The U-S Supreme Court rules in favor of a non-union Illinois state employee who argued being forced to pay any sort of union dues violates his free speech rights. • What Happens When You Age Out Of Foster Care In Illinois
There are roughly 15,000 children and young adults in foster care in Illinois, and when they turn 21, they’re no longer eligible for state services and resources. These young people often have a higher likelihood of falling into unfortunate circumstances when they are forced to leave the system, like homelessness and unemployment, advocates say. To fill that gap, local nonprofit Chicago Youth Opportunities Initiative provides mentorship and development opportunities for people in foster care. CYOI co-founders Brittiney Jones and Aylana Washington explain how the foster care system works in Illinois and how their initiative aims to help those in need.

As a result, more than two-thousand migrant children have been separated from their parents who were jailed between April and May, drawing widespread condemnation from lawmakers across the aisle.
