Payer-Provider collaborations are becoming more important in healthcare and we are fortunate to be joined by Frank Ingari, President and CEO of NaviNet who's organization claims to be a 'true payer provider collaboration'. We talk with Frank about why payer-provider collaboration is so important for the future of healthcare and examples of this collaboration making a difference in patients’ care and experience.

Process improvements can have a positive impact on patient care and organizational efficiency; however, in some cases, process improvement implementations can cause only 'pockets' of improvement leaving other areas of the organization lagging behind. We talk with Erik Fredrick, MHA the Chief Operating Officer at Pen Bay Healthcare System about how he has worked with Lean Daily Management throughout his career and transformed health systems with engaging incremental process improvements. Erik also talks about the importance of engaging the organization at all levels to ensure that organizational culture reflects the dedication to process improvement. As the amount of data in healthcare continues to grow, data scientists are working to create solutions that address complex problems in healthcare. We are joined by Kevin Petrie, a technology evangelist at Attunity who has worked on solving problems inside and outside of healthcare with data scientists . Kevin joins us to talk about the challenges that working with healthcare data poses but also the incredible results that can be yielded when data is correctly analyzed and used.

Telemedicine technologies have matured in the past decade and caregivers and patients alike are reaping the benefits of the advancements. However, telemedicine is still a complex area with many programs and definitions to understand. To shed some light on the benefits and current state of telemedicine, HIMSS and the American Medical Association partnered to host Dr. Karen Rheuban, Professor of Pediatrics, Senior Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education, and Director of the University of Virginia Center for Telehealth to answer some of the more challenging questions around telemedicine.

Addendum: Since recording this episode, the American Telemedicine Association announced that additional states have signed telemedicine parity laws bringing the total to 27 states and the District of Columbia.

With a rapidly evolving healthcare ecosystem, it is important to take a step back and understand where the industry is at in order to make meaningful strides forward. We are fortunate enough to be joined by Jonathan Bush, CEO and Co-Founder of athenahealth to do just that. Jonathan talks about the healthcare industry’s accomplishments to date but also discusses the disconnects that still exist. He explains his vision for the future and how that vision will become reality.

Care transitions have evolved over the past decade and Tom Ferry, Co-Founder and CEO of Curaspan, has anticipated this evolution. After a personal experience over fifteen years ago, Tom started Curaspan when he recognized that the care transition process needed new clinical workflows and technology to support better patient care. We were able to sit down with Tom at HIMSS15 in Chicago and discuss how care transitions have evolved and why focusing on new solutions is so important to the future of healthcare. Tom also shares some insight on how to innovate in the growing market of healthcare and his outlook for the next five years of healthcare innovation.

There is a great opportunity to improve care and reduce readmissions with properly executed care coordination.
