  • 20: Are Ferrari Embarrassed To Top Free Practice Sessions?

The 2019 Formula 1 Championships aside, Ferrari seem out of contention for the 2019 Free Practice World Championships too. Or is it that the former World Champions are too embarrassed to keep topping the not-so-relevant sessions? We discuss more in this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast.

Also, this episode is a summary of What They Said This Week - the 'they' in question being Toto Wolff, Renault and Robert Kubica. We bid adieu to Niki Lauda whilst reminiscing memories of the yesteryears. Monaco brought an end to the 8 drivers / 8 teams juggernaut in Formula E, will it also do so for Formula 1? Or are Mercedes on course to win every race this season? If not, how many races could Ferrari win in 2019? Tune in!

  • 18: Is F1 Overselling Its 2021 Agenda?

Picture this: Formula 1 is a country; its fans (all of us!) are its citizens. This would make Chase Carey its Head of State and the teams and drivers the government functionaries - working hard to deliver a good championship fight. In all of this, is Formula 1 overselling its agenda and plans for 2021? Is Carey sounding like the politician who is asking its citizens to sacrifice today and be patient for a better tomorrow (2021), even as he comes up for re-election (contract renewal)? No, we've not gone bonkers and this is why you should tune in to this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast.

Also in this episode, why being Mr. Nice Guy won't make the cut for Sebastian Vettel but how even the FIA is trolling the supposed championship contender, Bernie Ecclestone's public admission of being wrong, how the Toto Wolff for Formula 1 CEO came about and if Flavio Briatore will run for President too. And finally, do you really believe Max Verstappen when he says that he isn't the 'number 1' driver in Red Bull? Tune in!

    (Season 2019, Episode 18)

Here's what's in store for you in this episode:

0:00-3:00: Is Formula 1 overselling its agenda for 2021? Will Formula 1 actually be better then?

3:00-6:00: Toto Wolff as Formula 1's CEO? But what if Liberty Media just renew Carey's contract? Could Flavio Briatore apply for this post too?

6:00-9:00: Did you hear, Bernie Ecclestone just publicly admitted that he was wrong!!

9:00-12:00: Sebastian Vettel is Mr. Nice Guy - but that doesn't seem to matter to anyone whatsoever! Btw, even the FIA's joke is on Vettel. Yes, you heard this here first

12:00-15:00: Max Verstappen actually said that he isn't the number #1 driver in Red Bull, much like Lance Stroll's blamed bad luck for his eight consecutive Q1 exits

15:00-end: Moments in Time with Lucien + predictions for P7!

  • 17: F1 TV - Is The Commentary Biased?

Okay, let's get this straight. The Sky Sports F1 team is doing a fabulous job of presenting Formula 1\. But are they too British-centric in their coverage to be the commentary feed on F1 TV, the sport's official live stream? That said, Formula 1's next move should be to establish their own independent commentary feeds, maybe in multiple languages? Of course, F1 TV first needs to have a glitch-free season before thinking of content localisation.

In this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we tell you why Ferrari are failing in the first-half of 2019, the billion dollar title battle in Formula 1, how Saudi Arabia could be the opening round of some future season and how Daniel Ricciardo's failed reverse drive is symbolic of his move from Red Bull Racing to Renault. Tune in!

    (Season 2019, Episode 17)

Here's what's in store for you in this episode:

0:00-3:00: Why Ferrari are failing in the first-half of the 2019 Formula 1 Season

3:00-6:00: We add fuel to the Vettel-Wolff debate on Mercedes' 'boring' dominance + the billion dollar title battle between Mercedes-Ferrari

6:00-9:00: Mercedes can't control the Hamilton-Bottas relationship as much as they think they can

9:00-12:00: F1 TV - they NEED to ditch the pro-British commentary feed. But before all that, can they have a glitch-free season?

12:00-15:00: Saudi Arabia will be the season-opening venue in the time to come? When last did a Formula 1 driver stall on the grid at the start of a race?

15:00-end: Are Renault & Daniel Ricciardo on the verge of fading into oblivion in Formula 1? Nico Rosberg's almost two-race ban would've been another record for the former Formula 1 World Champion

  • 16: Did Ecclestone Spill Vettel's F1 Retirement Plans?

An unlikely friendship or not, Bernie Ecclestone and Sebastian Vettel are known to be good friends. In which case, why would Ecclestone stir the controversial retirement pot for Vettel at a time when almost everyone is calling for it anyway? Is Ecclestone having with Vettel's critics or did he just end up spilling the beans over Vettel's future in Formula 1? Either way, let's hope for one final championship flourish (or two!) for Vettel before he bids goodbye to the sport.

In this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we also talk about Fernando Alonso's possible decision to not renew his current racing contract with Toyota and why that would be smart. If Alonso decides to return to Formula 1, which driver's career could be at risk - Lando Norris or Carlos Sainz Jr.? Sir Jackie Stewart has been 'very lucky' to not have fan hate come towards him for claiming that Lewis Hamilton was very lucky to get the Mercedes seat. And of course, we look forward to the talking points from 2019 Azerbaijan Grand Prix and wonder if a mid-field driver will find himself on the podium 4th year in a row? Tune in!

    (Season 2019, Episode 16)

Here's what's in store for you in this episode:

0:00-3:00: Azerbaijan Grand Prix's contract extended till 2023\. How are circuits betting on Formula 1's future when teams and drivers are so non-committal themselves?

3:00-6:00: Fernando Alonso's decision to not renew with Toyota could offer a cue to his plans for 2020\. What should he do? Is not re-signing with Toyota the correct decision? If Alonso returns to Formula 1, could it be at the cost of Lando Norris or Carlos Sainz Jr.'s future?

6:00-9:00: We discuss Sir Jackie Stewart's assessment on Lewis Hamilton being 'very lucky' to have a Mercedes seat. We think Sir Stewart has been 'very lucky' to not have too much fan hate come his way!

9:00-12:00: Is Bernie Ecclestone spilling Sebastian Vettel's retirement plans? Let's understand Ferrari's driver dilemma before trying to crucify them for their team orders

12:00-15:00: Is Mattia Binotto actually overburdened at Ferrari? The ONE area where Charles Leclerc has had to work extremely hard to match Sebastian Vettel

15:00-18:00: Max Verstappen's recommendations for Formula 1 are so millennial!

18:00-21:00: Is Baku the new Spain for Formula 1 teams to bring upgrades? How will Mercedes deal with Valtteri Bottas' early contract extension talks?

21:00-end: Can Renault switch from talking of the future to talking about the present? Moments in Time with Lucien + predictions!

  • 15: Ferrari: Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don't

Should Ferrari use team-orders or not? They were trolled for not doing so in 2018 and now are now being trolled for doing so in 2019! As for China, we believe Ferrari was right in using team-orders. But before you jump onto us for this statement, tune in to this episode. We also talk of how 'disbelief' is governing Ferrari's title campaign for 2019 and how the team and Sebastian Vettel avoided major embarrassment in Formula 1's 1000th Grand Prix.

Also in this episode, we tell you why trolling the Strolls ain't gonna work - even if Lance presses the radio instead of the energy button. We discuss the ONE reason why Mercedes would promote Esteban Ocon to a race seat, even if Valtteri Bottas does sufficiently well this year and if Romain Grosjean is some sort of a benchmark for drivers in Formula 1\. If Mclaren decide to field a full-time team in Indycar, we tell you why it would be a smart decision. Tune in!

    (Season 2019, Episode 15)

Here's what's in store for you in this episode:

0:00-3:00: Max Verstappen is spinning around too - just that he's spinning when it doesn't matter.

3:00-6:00: Why Lance & Lawrence Stroll deserve to be in Formula 1 - it is family business. As for Kimi Raikkonen, Formula 1 is a hobby! Is Romain Grosjean a benchmark in Formula 1?

6:00-9:00: Ferrari - damned if you do, damned if you don't - on their use or no-use of team-orders. But thank you for the BIGGEST story from Formula 1's 1000th Grand Prix

9:00-12:00: Will Toro Rosso receive an invoice from Ferrari for their brake disc cooling services in China? Will the better starting Mercedes driver end up winning the Drivers' Championship in 2019?

12:00-15:00: We discuss the ONE scenario that could see Mercedes promote Esteban Ocon to a race seat. Is Formula 1 going the Formula E way and prefering street circuits?

15:00-18:00: Ferrari-Vettel avoided major embarrassment in the qualifying session in China. Also, was the pit-wall of Red Bull Racing and Haas asleep in Q3?

18:00-end: Mclaren's decision to field a full-time Indycar team could be completely understandable and justifiable. They are trying to emulate Fernando Alonso's moves outside of Formula 1.
