Inside The Clubhouse

Bruce Levine and Matt Spiegel opened their show by reacting to Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein's end-of-season media session earlier in the week in which he addressed the team's disappointing ending and the state of the organization. Later, MLB umpire supervisor Larry Young joined the show to discuss how umpires had to function in this strange season.

In the second hour, Bruce Levine and Matt Spiegel were joined by Cubs Radio analyst Ron Coomer to discuss the team being eliminated by the Marlins in their wild-card series. Later, former big league catcher Ted Simmons joined the show to discuss the life and legacy of Cardinals legend and Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Gibson, who died Friday at the age of 84.

Bruce Levine and Matt Spiegel opened their show by discussing what the future might hold for the Cubs after they were swept by the Marlins in their wild-card series. How much -- if any -- change could be coming? On the South Side, there's a much different feeling about the White Sox, who also lost in the wild-card round but have a bright future.

In the second hour, Bruce Levine and Mike Esposito were joined by White Sox general manager Rick Hahn to discuss the team's six-game losing streak, to share perspective on what has otherwise been a breakout season for his club and to preview the playoffs, which begin next week. Later, Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks joined the show to discuss his team's mentality in the final days of the regular season and his superb campaign.

Bruce Levine and Mike Esposito, who was sitting in for Matt Spiegel, opened their show by breaking down the Cubs' 10-0 win against the White Sox on Friday night. It included Cubs catcher Willson Contreras authoring a bat flip for the ages on a home run, then later getting plunked by White Sox reliever Jimmy Cordero as tempers flared. The White Sox denied that Cordero intentionally hit Contreras. Do we believe that?
