In this episode Lise and Crystal chat about the parent teacher interview.  Cooper, Crystals oldest son, writes his first song, called Golden.  We play part of the song at the end of our show as well as just before the interview.

Our interview is with Ash Quenville and Carmen Burns.  They are the organizers or Glitz and Glamor a semi formal benefit for Carmens best friend Nicole Tower, who has beed diagnosed with cancer a second time.

The event takes place on Jan 26th 2013 at the Lions Gate Hall in Barrie.  Tickets are $60 for dinner and dance. There will be 5 ladies who will recieve a makeover.  These 5 ladies are cancer survivors or the spouse of a survivor. 

There will be a door prizes well as a slient auction.  Some of the silent aution items include West Jet tickets, 4 Disney World tickets, Baseball memoribilia with the certificate of autenticity. Lia Sophia  jewelry, Scente.cy products and a table a mirror that Carmen is re-finishing.

The idea came from the Networking Entrepreunial Women of Simcoe Region (N.E.W.S). A womens networking group that meet every second Monday night in the Alliston area. You could find their fan page on facebook. Be sure to check them out.

In this episode, Crytal chats about her busy week, with the boys being sick.  Lise talks about her little experiment with the scale, and how that turned out.  Lastly, we have a great interview with Christina Babulal.  She just received her last Chemo treatment for Ovarian Cancer.  She is the Mother of 2,has 2 border collies and is lucky enough to be married to her best friend Lyndon. Christina shares her story from the time she was diagnosed to the present.  The oncologist on call, Dr Andy who is also a friend from church was present when whe went in to the emerg.  That day, the oncologist, his wife as well as Christina and Lyndon started praying, and it was that moment when Christina realized she would be okay.

From there she saw a Dr at SunnyBrook hospital.  One month later she underwent a total hysterectomy.  She is now cancer free.

She was able to participate in the Look Good, Feel Better program at RVH.  They provided her with a box of make up and a class on how to apply makeup as well as take care of her skin during chemo.

She really appreciated it when people generously brought food or gave her 1/2 hour notice (needed to apply make up and get the wig on) to come mop her floor.  One lady sent her a note in the mail every few weeks.  There are many smll things that we could do to support someone going through a tough time.

Because of this journey, Christina has stated "Inspired Bracelets"  She has some ready made bracelets as well as make your own.  A Bracelet party instead of a loot bag is a great idea.

Cholesterol is the last of the risk factors these ladies will cover in this series.  Cholesterol is really not the bad guy as we once thought it was.  It serves a purpose in the body.
