Because here is the thing. No one knows exactly know how many days we have left. We try our hardest not to think about the fact that someday we’ll die.

So we tend to waste time on things we don't like doing and with people we have no interest in. We let people and obligations impose on that time, only rarely asking: What am I getting in return here? Nothing but lost time!

What it is saying is instead of simply accepting what happens, the Stoics urge us to enjoy what has happened—whatever it is, good, bad or indifferent.

Nietzsche, many centuries later, coined the perfect expression to capture this idea: amor fati (a love of fate). It’s not just accepting what happens to you, it is loving everything that happens!
