- Consider using blinds instead of sheers to avoid excessive fabric bulk while maintaining light control and privacy.  - Opt for curtain rods that are at least 1 inch in diameter to ensure they are sturdy enough for heavy drapes like velvet.  - Avoid a white-on-white kitchen to prevent mismatched tones and consider adding contrast with a different color for the island or other elements.
