The meditation this week is a quick and simple break-time guided meditation for when you need a moment to yourself or want to escape work or studying for a short while. The practice is straight to the point and includes most of my favourite cues and one of my favourite soundtracks.

This week is on the simpler end but easily one of my favourite ways to meditate and that is with sound as the focus. The power of sound can be tremendous. The feelings sound can elicit are of rare equal in strength. Sound is the seed of all matter and the intent in this meditation is to shift our focus to the sound we hear, let it flow through us and encapsulate us in the present.

This week is meditation for sleep. Hopefully the perfect combination of relaxation and breath focus to allow you easier passage into a long night of rest. Any of the techniques utilized in this practice can be applied outside of the meditation if you ever have trouble sleeping or de-stressing before bed.

This weeks a little different with a walking meditation. Probably not something a lot of people have had experience with before. Walking meditation has shown me that just paying more attention to such a simple task can be a powerful tool to bring yourself out of stress and anxiety. It also shows that meditation doesn’t just have to be a stationary practice, principles of meditation can be applied to so many different activities than you would expect.

A meditation born out of need to spread what we all need to embody right now. To quote Martin Luther King ,”Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.” That same force Dr. King speaks about is found within you and all human beings, whether some choose to find it is a different matter but you have the choice to reach for it. You have the choice to embody love and compassion for yourself and all humanity.

In this weeks episode we are working with the mantra “So’ham”. So’ham is translated as “I am everything” or “I am that” and in yogic philosophy it means identifying oneself with the universe or ultimate reality. It’s a universal and natural mantra because it is present within everybody as the breath, with the sound of "so" during inhalation and "ham" during exhalation. As such, So'ham is a mantra that is chanted just by concentrating on the breath because the breath chants it naturally.

This weeks episode is called “The Blooming Tree Meditation”. I love writing these guided imagery journeys and this is another concept I imagined recently. It came about when considering our connection with nature and how our life is supported by it and vice versa. I hope this connects with you as it did me.

This weeks episode is a meditation for anxiety relief. We have a readily available and powerful tool to relieve feelings of anxiety. That tool being the breath. Specifically conscious control of the breath. A lot of what causes our anxiety is worry or uncertainty about what’s ahead. This is why a meditation practice is of such importance. It’s a step into presence every time you sit down to practice. It’s a step toward peace, every moment you spend within.

This weeks meditation is a nature inspired journey through breath and the ocean. I find it very beautiful harmonizing our most natural function, breathing, with phenomenon in nature. It's calming to find ways in which you can attach yourself to these phenomenon even though they may not be accessible to you right now.

Todays episode is a body scan style meditation, by request. The object being to move your attention to each individual part of the body and induce greater relaxation through the use of intention and breath. A great practice for the end of the day or before bed but can be done anytime if you feel a lot of tension or tightness in the body.
