In this episode, we have a little catch-up and we chat about our hike along Hadrian's wall. A few things we learnt along the way, things to pack and what we definitely don't need to pack next time!
Our walk took us all along the path starting in Wallsend, Newcastle to Bowness on Solway, Carlise (Coast to Coast). The official path takes us 84.5 miles from point A to B. The wall was commissioned by Emperor Hadrian to protect the Roman empire against the Scottish barbarians. At the time it was built in 122 AD, the Roman empire stretched 5,000km from Arabia to this northernmost point. Considering this wall stretched 74 miles in length, only 9% remains to be seen, with the rest being taken away to be repurposed or stolen to build locals houses. The most relevance to Hadrian's wall in pop culture nowadays was the inspiration, George R.R Martin took to build the wall in the north in the Game of Thrones tv series.
We did it in 5 days, wild camped for the first 3 nights and then decided we needed showers on the other nights. Not only was this an amazing experience but it was a great time to get out in the country and away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. If we could suggest 5 things that are of importance if you are considering walking the wall it would be these: Pack light, Wear good shoes, Pack lots of socks, pack waterproofs & bring some good company.

As we return to the podcast, we make a casual examination into the thousands-year-old guidebook 'The Art of War' by Ancient Chinese military genius, Sun Tzu. The book is a guide, with a list of various imperatives, do's and don'ts, which give an insight into Ancient Chinese military ambition as well as into the world of tactics and thinking before you act. Although neither host come from a military background, we make attempts to dissect, find similarities and relate the book to day-to-day examples, providing some golden tidbits along the way!

On today’s podcast, we welcome Lewis Daly. No, he’s not the brother of Tom Daley but he does have a brother called Tom… I know it confused us at first too. Lewis is without question one of the hardest working and humble individuals we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting and coaching. Coming from a water polo background he has been hugely successful with his local team, City of Manchester Water Polo Club & the GB squad as well as across the world. If we were to list his successes it would just go on for ever, oh also did we forget to mention he’s also studying dentistry… what can’t this man do? And you should see his teeth, pearly whites they are.
Join us as we talk all things Water-Polo, Dentistry and finding your path in the journey of life as Lewis takes us through his experiences into the unknown.
