Irish Breakdown

Rapid Fire topics include:

* Which Notre Dame player are you more confident will have a career year: wide receiver Jayden Thomas or vyper defensive end Jordan Botelho?

* We talked on Monday's show about how Notre Dame should approach its future scheduling in an expanded CFP era. A listener said on YouTube that he thinks ND needs to have one of the top-10 toughest schedules annually to stay independent. He says he wants Big 10 teams like Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and Ohio State on a constant rotation. Do you Buy or Sell more Big 10 teams on the schedule?

* The NCAA has approved allowing commercial sponsor advertisements on football fields for regular-season games beginning this season. Do you think Notre Dame will ever put sponsor logos on the field at Notre Dame Stadium?

* Thoughts on comments from Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer about rookie former Irish linebacker Marist Liufau.

* Fill-in the blank...Former Notre Dame baseball coach Paul Mainieri is expected to be named South Carolina’s new head coach and you are BLANK.

* USA Basketball officially released the women’s basketball Olympic roster today and they say they left Caitlin Clark off the team because they don’t think she has enough high-level experience. Do you Buy or Sell that rationale?

* After Oklahoma won its fourth straight women’s college world series and its seventh overall national championship since 2013, there have been some outcries to move the WCWS out of Oklahoma City. Do you Buy or Sell it?

Notre Dame had its first official visit weekend of the summer, and while it was a small group it was an incredibly important group of players. Ryan and Shaun discuss how things went with elite linebackers Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng and Madden Faraimo, who the Irish impressed in a big way. They also discuss how it went with talented defensive back Jahmir Joseph.

Rapid Fire topics include:

* ESPN’s Greg McElroy says Notre Dame is more desperate than Texas A&M to win their week one matchup. “I don’t think it’s even close. I think by a mile it’s Notre Dame. I think you look at Notre Dame this year, this is the year that Marcus Freeman has circled.” Do you Buy or Sell that from McElroy?

* Fill-in the blank...It’s BLANK that according to Pro Football Focus, Notre Dame’s Mike Denbrock is the highest paid offensive coordinator in the country at $2.1 million dollars a year.

* Fill-in the blank...We got the news last week that Notre Dame has added Boise State to its home schedule next year. One opponent that’s still up in the air for next year is Stanford, because the contract with the Cardinal expires after this season and Stanford is now part of the ACC. It will be BLANK if the Irish don’t play Stanford next year.

* What should the Irish do with their schedule if Stanford is not going to be on it every year?

* Thoughts on reports that former Notre Dame and LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri will be hired as South Carolina's head coach.

* Caitlin Clark was left off the US women’s Olympic basketball team. Which do you have a bigger issue with: Clark’s snub or the avalanche of takes that came after it this weekend?

* Game two of the NBA Finals included 600 lobsters in the media dinner at Boston’s TD Garden Arena. What’s the best media meal we've ever had?
