I was joined by Last Word on Spurs' Jason McGovern - referred to as 'The Oracle' to dissect the 91/92 season.

Following the dramatic FA Cup success in May 1991 it was all-change at White Hart Lane with a new ownership dream team wiping out the debt but Gazza had played his last game in lilywhite. Back in European football and with the best striker in England (Gary Lineker - not John Hendry!) could Spurs build on their success and make it back-to-back trophy years?

It's the hope that kills you eh! Despite a good start the league season descended into mediocrity though there were enjoyable cup runs.

From Teddy shushing the Gallowgate to 7-goal hammerings I'll remind you of visits to Newcastle in the 90s. There were 8 games which include 1 win, 3 draws and 4 defeats. in this bonus episode I reflect on some of the magic, mayhem and mediocrity of those games. Irving Scholar - a boyhood Spurs obsessive - took over the club in 1982 with ambitions to make Spurs the best team in the country and to revolutionise English football. However, in 1991, having won the FA Cup the club found itself in a mountain of debt and fighting for its very survival. Scholar was forced to sell and give up his dream but he remains one of the most divisive characters in the club's history. To truly understand the neurotic state of Spurs during this period a proper exploration of Scholar's running of the club is needed. I was joined by the esteemed Sports and Finance writer Mihir Bose who co-wrote Scholar's revealing 1992 memoir Behind Closed Doors.

In May 1991 Spurs and Paul Gascoigne both faced existential crisis'. The club was £11m in debt and in desperate need of income and Paul Gascoigne, the best and most famous player in the country was crocked. His agreed sale to Lazio was put on hold and with his career dangling by a thread it needed the care and expertise of Spurs' Consultant Physio John Sheridan to nurse him back to full fitness.

John joined Spurs when he followed David Pleat from Luton in 1986. He was dealt a number of challenges, notably having to purchase his medical facility from Exchange n Mart and arriving early to power the portable generator! John's story is remarkable and we discuss his excellent book 'The Limping Physio'. Tune in to learn about:

Sunday 14 April 1991. Wembley Stadium. The nation watches on for the most anticipated FA Cup Semi-Final of all-time. Perhaps the most significant Spurs result since winning the UEFA Cup in 1984?

For this episode I was joined by Nayim and Daniel Wynne to look back at a glorious afternoon as we overcame all odds to stuff Arsenal and reach the FA Cup Final. With views from the pitch, the dugout and the stands relive the jeopardy of the first ever North London Derby in an FA Cup SF, Gazza's heroics, Samways off the ball runs and Barry Davies' immortal commentary.

Spurs 90s cult heroes don't come any bigger than Erik Thorstvedt...literally...he's 6 ft 4! Despite an infamous debut mistake Erik Thorstvedt quickly established himself as a terrace hero at White Hart Lane and he was an outstanding goalkeeper too! Ok guys, I can't polish a turd. Here's a painful reminder of home games against Chelsea in the 90s. A run that saw us win precisely 0 games out of 12 and establish one of the worst hoodoo's in our club's history. Are we still paying Karma for taking Gordon Durie off them in summer 91?

There's Roberts and Hazard returning to haunt us, handbags between Teddy and Dennis Wise and Christian Gross' infamous first game in charge...and I didn't even mention losing 4-0 in the Makita Cup Final! Well at least we got Jason Cundy from them. erm ok, like I say no way of sugar coating this but please do listen anyway! At least I had a lovely time on my half-term break to the beautiful city of Bergen which I discuss towards the end.
