This episode: The Apple
The Camp Counsellors would like to apologise to anyone ahead of time who sat through The Apple and are utterly dumbfounded by what happened.
Now we hop into the Is It Camp Time Machine and rocket our way into the far flung dystopian future of 1994, where music rules the world! But along the way, Sarah gets seduced by the Rock and Roll lifestyle and suffers zero consequences for breaking up our duo! She leaves Sam to party with Satan, some drag queens, and leather daddies, as Sam gets the shit kicked out of him in a parking lot.
Will love triumph? Is this film a Morality Play in very loose disguise? How much does Sam love this dumpster fire of a movie? Can you, the audience, survive what may be regarded as one of the worst musicals ever made?
Join us as we pick up some SPEED!
This episode: Moonstruck
When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amoré!
When the Counsellors sing, screaming "Moonstruck's the thing!", you're in love…
That's right Campers, today we are watching 1987's Cher and Nick Cage film Moonstruck! A romance bigger than Cher's hair, so of course we are covering it for week three of *Romance Month*. Naturally, Sarah is going to talk about Nick Cage. Why would we pass up the opportunity? Will Sam find a shade of lipstick like Cher's?
Join us in slapping Sam and telling him to "Snap out of it!"
This Episode: Down With Love
She's fresh off the plane and about to take the world by storm! Yes, Sarah has written a new book on how the modern woman can have everything she needs, by embracing her Camp self! But Sam is a hotshot reporter who'll do anything to get his scoop, and the scoop he wants is her! Or not, because the Camp Counsellors couldn't keep up the straight charade if they tried.
So instead they want you to kindly join them in watching the Ewan McGregor/Renee Zellweger screwball comedy Down With Love!
Watch as the Counsellors gush over the costumes! Be amazed at how queer a movie that's so heterosexual can be! And will the Counsellors find true love in someone they hated at first? Probably not! *Romance Month* continues here!
This episode: Roxanne
We have a confession, Campers. It isn't Sam who has been your host with Sarah, but another, far uglier Camp Counsellor, who has been feeding Sam all his lines! But he did it because you are the best damn audience out there, and he didn't want you associated with just how dangly his earlobes are! They're mesmerizing!
So today, as the first episode of our *Romance Month*, Sarah, Sam, and our very long earlobed friend, shall take you through the Steve Martin/Daryl Hannah romantic comedy, Roxanne.
How quickly can Sarah burst Sam's bubble on whether or not its based on a tragedy? How does Sam feel about Daryl Hannah? And who is our mysterious earlobe friend, who will probably never be named again? Join us and find out!
This week: Flash Gordon
Oh no Campers! As Sam and Sarah were taking a flight on their private jet, they crash-landed into the home of special guest star Steven of Radio Free Skaro! So the three of them hopped into his homemade rocket in order to watch Flash Gordon, and save the Earth!
How far back can Sarah trace the origins of Flash Gordon? How many Doctor Who actors can Steven name off the top of his head who appeared in this film? And can Sam just get ONE character's name right?!? No, he really can't.
Take a quick trip to the Planet Mongo as these three intrepid podcasters try to stop a despot, a marriage, and a voguing woman!
This episode: Venom: Let There Be Carnage
Sarah and Sam have now formed a perfect symbiosis, and she now wears him as a big meat suit. They're now the Mighty Camp Queen, the Regal Protector. But a second, EVIL symbiote, is making a whole bunch of carnage, and in this carnage, they need to be stopped before more carnage is carnaged. Let's call them Naughty-Boi.
Anywhere, before we get to the big CGI Fight, can our Camp Counsellors come to a consensus about today's film Venom: Let There Be Carnage? Why is Michelle Williams even here? Why are the women criminally under-used in this film? And what does Sarah know about the history of bringing Spider-Man to the big screen? He's not even in this film!
Join us, as we attempt to save some chickens, and have a completely platonic relationship.
This episode: The Pink Panther (1963)
Grab your safe-cracking gear and monogrammed white gloves; we're doing a heist! In one of the hidden safes of the Is It Camp Palace lies the fabulous Macguffin Diamond, which we are using to push the plot of this episode forward, with a whole host of characters.
Resist the effects of all this champagne we are drinking to watch The Pink Panther (1963).
Can our Camp Counsellors make it through the whole episode without singing the theme tune? What does Sam know about the fabulous woman called Capucine? Will Sarah want to continue with this series after the first film? And what really IS the Pink Panther, and why does it have so many sequels? Pop on your gorilla costume to find out!
This episode: Magic Mike XXL
Good news Campers! We are hitting the road in our CampMobile! The trunk is filled with body glitter, knee pads, and tear away costumes, and now we're going to throw all of that out the window, as we drive into Magic Mike XXL!
What experience does Sam have that could even remotely relate to the moves that Channing Tatum pulls off? How awkward did Sarah feel seeing BOTH Magic Mike films with her mom? And who's the real magnetic MC in this group of himbos doing a cross-country trip to a stripper convention? Hint: it's none of them!
Tune in for a surprisingly wholesome, and deeply erotic, film.
This episode: Street Fighter (1994)
Campers! We found a cool fighting area in the back, and down a flight of steps. The whole layout is in the shape of a skull with wings, and has a skelly chandelier, and some kind of mutagenic lab! Sam also found a copy of Street Fighter on VHS to watch, so we sat down and did that instead of explore further into the Is It Camp Palace. (Really, it's getting quite sprawling in its layout.)
How much Jean-Claude Van Dam can Sarah take before she spinning kicks someone? Can all 12 of these characters get enough screen time? And how does Sam feel about the last few films of the late, great Raul Julia?
Fight us to the DEATH on the streets to find out!*
*warning: film contains no actual street fights.
