Many of the topics I cover here on the podcast are around the spiritual connection you have with yourself and the people around you. 

But something I haven’t spoken about is the beautiful connection you can form with your baby.

Today’s guest on the Matrescence Awakening with Kirryn Lee podcast is Helen Thompson.

Helen has spent more than three decades working with babies and toddlers, and currently lives on the beautiful northwest coast of Tasmania in Australia. 

She's qualified in the UK as a nursery nurse and childcare educator, and has worked in centres in the UK and numerous states of Australia. 

Helen has always been a huge fan of holistic remedies and how they can help all ages. And I spent time over the years training in areas including kinesiology and brain gym. In 2010 Helen heard about baby infant massage for the first time and decided to train to become an instructor after seeing how it helps build a magical bond between baby and parent whilst helping babies with conditions such as colic, and constipation. Helen enjoys teaching Mum’s through her online zoom workshops and her podcast First Time Mum’s Chat.

The spiritual connection you have with your baby is a big part of your matrescence journey and this conversation will give you a holistic view of how to cultivate this connection with your baby.

Please know it’s normal if you’re feeling disconnected from your baby. It’s my hope this episode will give you the tools and techniques to nurture that connection through baby massage.

Any kind of transformation is a journey.

The episode absolutely no one asked for BUT I wanted to record anyway!

I really love listening to how other people spend their time – so WELCOME to a day in my life (or more accurately “a week in my life”)!

I wanted to create this little time capsule so you can get an insight into how I spend my days and weeks, and it’s hopefully something you find useful.

Not because the way I spend my time is the “right” way or that I’m prioritising the “right” things – but more that I’ve crafted and cultivated my time in a way that really serves ME.

Please know – I don’t want this to create any sort of comparison between how I spend my days and weeks and how you spend yours. 

If you do find yourself start to compare or judge yourself for spending your time differently, really notice that and take a moment for a little self reflection as to why.

It’s taken me a long time to get to this place and I’ve had to not only prioritise the things important to me, but also release the things that don’t serve me but I’ve always felt pressure (from society) to live up to.

There’s a tool I've been using relatively consistently for about the last five ish months.

It’s something that’s been super powerful – a practice called Morning Pages. 

It’s a concept from the book called “The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity” by Julia Cameron and something I spoke about in a recent episode with Sammi Johnson about journaling.

Morning Pages is one particular style of journaling and since I’ve consistently incorporated this practice into my morning’s, I've noticed a huge shift in the way that I'm showing up in the world and the way I start my days.

A couple of weeks ago I spoke about the importance of self reflection and how journaling can be a really great tool to support your self reflection practice.

And in today’s episode of Matrescence Awakening I’ve invited the beautiful Sammi Johnson to to bring more depth to this conversation and to try and crack open another tool that you might be able to lean into.
