The girls haven't recorded in 2 weeks so this week's episode is truly a catch-up episode because there's SO much to talk about like YouTube drama, dogs eating sticks, moving houses, catfishing, The Ultimatum, & if they're more of a ~listener~ when it comes to watching TV or shows or an actual ~watcher~. We know, serious stuff.

This week the girls break down and analyze the lyrics of a song that Marissa used to scream at the top of her lungs in 2020 & just heard again for the first time since recently that has taken on a whole new meaning and set of realizations. The song calls out some interesting tropes and situations you may find yourself in a relationship and Alexis & Marissa unpack what that means to them and if they'd agree or not.
They ponder weather or not relationships should take hard work or if they should just be easy from the start. Does "taking a break" in a relationship actually work in fixing the problems? They also discuss dimming yourself to be palatable to others (including your relationship) and the effects that can have without you even realizing it. Marissa speaks on the importance of music in her life and mood and why this song was so important to her in 2020 and now in 2023.

This week the girls sit down and play a game of We're Not Really Strangers, answering 5 questions from each of the 3 levels. This game has been circling the internet like crazy and is a purpose driven card game and movement all about empowering meaningful connections. There are three carefully crafted levels of questions and wildcards that allow you to deepen your existing relationships and create new ones with the people you're playing with.
Level 1 lays the groundwork by letting players ask each other about their initial thoughts on privilege and race.
Level 2 allows players to better understand each other's personal experiences with prejudice and racism.
Level 3 gives players the opportunity to reflect on the conversation they've just had and make a roadmap to being actively antiracist in the future.
Some of the questions the girls answer:

In a past episode Alexis briefly touched on Habit Stacking & how that's changed her life so this week the girls deep dived into what Habit Stacking is & how everyone can start using it. Alexis uses it with almost everything she does and it's a superpower when doing the things you often forget about or "don't have enough time to do".
Alexis & Marissa each walk us through their morning routines - except we learn one of them doesn't have one at all. Routines in general are such a helpful thing to have in your day to day, and the girls break down why this is, why you should make a good morning routine, and more on how to structure a routine so you create one that you love and one that serves you in all the right ways.

This month the girls had long time friend to Marissa and sorority Big to Alexis - Allison - join in on the Happy Hour fun. Allison used to be on a podcast with Marissa and another one of their friends, Kaitlynn, so she's not brand new to the podcasting world and also not brand new to Marissa's viewers. The episode kicked off with some of the questions YALL had for Allison in a bit of a ~let's catch up~ Q&A session to get the updated tea from Allison's life since she's last been on Marissa's YouTube channel. Allison dove into her non-negotiables for friends, dating, setting boundaries, and more.

The girls welcomed a new running series into the podcast called: Let's Unpack That where they'll read your anonymous submissions of situations you're in, problems you're having, or advice you need and unpack it together like you're on FaceTime with your best friend talking about it in real time. The girls want to be your shoulder to cry on, warm hug, and ear to listen while providing you with the pep talk, tough love, and self love reminders to help get you through whatever it is you're going through.
Through this series the girls will open up about how they can relate to different submissions, how they might have managed it themselves if they've caught themselves in the same situations, or unpack what they would do in these situations. They'll help you unpack why you might be thinking this way and challenge your thought processes, biases, inner child tendencies, or traumas that might also play a hand in your dilemmas.
PART 1
In part 1 of Let's Unpack That, the girls unpack what it's like living with a partner who may not be on the same cleanliness level as you. Both Alexis and Marissa has lived through this, but only one has found some solutions, and sometimes that's just how it goes. They'll also unpack the feeling of placing all of your self worth into your work, what that does for your mind, and tips for pulling yourself away from your 9-5 and pouring yourself into something that brings you joy.

This week the girls sit down to catch up and chat about Alexis' upcoming move, how life has been in Florida so far after being there for 1 year, some of her non-negotiables when it comes to apartment hunting the first go around vs. the second apartment, & moving with the Navy and how that works. Both girls share their past apartment wins and loses when it comes to hunting, signing a lease, and living in different units as well as what life is like with dogs in apartment life - especially on the 3rd floor and always being the "upstairs neighbor".
While Alexis' next move will be into a HOUSE with a yard for the doggos - Marissa won't have to deal with moving into another apartment again because at the end of this lease she will be moving into her BUS that she's been renovating and converting with her boyfriend. She talks the pros and cons of that situation and her thoughts on the decorating side of things when it comes to living in a bus.

This week the girls take the Love Language test together to see where they stand with the 5 different love languages: Words of Affirmation, Physical Touch, Gifts, Acts of Service, and Quality Time. They've both taken it before and questioned if your love language can change over time with your personality or with the different partner your with.
Marissa talks about her previous results and why she she thinks she scored the LOWEST on one of the 5 before and maybe why that one has moved up in the results. We dive deeper into the girls' feelings on love & how to show it along with ways to learn more about your partner & their love language.
