Someone requested the girls dig deep, get personal, and let it ALL out about something personal in a future episode - and this is only the beginning of Digging Deep on this podcast. This episode is for the folks in their feels about trying to find themselves and what makes them truly happy. For the folks who are questioning if they are in the right place at the right time, or if you should take that leap into a new adventure. This episode tackles the grief of past relationships and how the state of those - and your mental health - can manifest itself in interesting ways in the real world.
Marissa comes to realize that a lot of what she thought made her...her, was really just a lot of misplaced feelings manifesting itself in obsessive, anal, perfectionistic ways. She thought that was just her "personality" and this is just how she is. WRONG! Marissa unpacks why she thinks this was in this weeks episode.
Alexis has been there too. From having thoughts of never wanting to get married or have kids, to now that changing for her, makes us wonder what was the CAUSE for those thoughts/feelings? Can you change your mind that quick? Or is a lot of our decision making due to external (or maybe internal) triggers and situations we find ourselves in?

Look. We've all been there - every year actually. We set 10 New Years Resolutions and by the end of the year we've maybe hit 2-3 of them? And definitely by March we've given up on most of them for one reason or another. Alexis & Marissa give some food for thought as to why this might not be your fault, what's wrong with New Years Resolutions, and when you should actually be starting your goals. Alexis talks more on her specific 2023 goals in fitness and education, while Marissa talks about more broad areas she's moving toward this year.
We play another round of "what mental illness is this" while Marissa puts her life in the hands of TikTok when it comes to what she should be doing - I mean it's worked before and Alexis admits she reads SMUT. The girls really get into a lot in this weeks episode.

With Alexis in her "self care" era, she shares the 5 buckets of self care that you can dip into to fill your cup and *actually* feel relaxed afterwards. But before that, Marissa dives a little deeper into her 75 hard journey so far, sharing some of the ups and downs she wasn't expecting. She talks embarrassment in the gym and feeling out of place (i.e. not wanting to TAKE UP HER SPACE) as well as how this challenge has showed her she's stronger (mentally and physically) than she thought. Everyone struggles with the fear of failure at one point or another, and the girls talk about Marissa's potentially masochistic nature with not wanting to do something unless it's hard and damn near unobtainable - think procrastinators...but worse.

With both girls having psychology degrees, I'm sure we were all waiting for the day they would take a personality test together. In todays episode Marissa and Alexis sit down and answer 105 questions that are apart of the Enneagram Test meant to categorize you into 1 of 9 personality "buckets" let's call it. Along the way we learn that Alexis may or may not be an emotional zombie and Marissa most definitely has an authority complex. They also dive deep into some of the reasons and differences in their answers, and we learn even more about how Marissa may think a little too deeply about the question about thinking deeply, and how Alexis struggles with responsibility and time management - I mean who doesn't? But it wouldn't be a well rounded episode without getting a little deep about feeling lonely, valued, and important in your social groups as well. The girls cover it all in todays episode.
If you would also like to see which 9 personality buckets you fall into, take the test too! // https://bit.ly/3ZNZNSW

Welcome to the It's a Non-Negotiable For Me podcast, with your hosts Marissa & Alexis. The girls have been friends for going on 5 years now and have been there for each of their phases, stages, and seasons of life. They're excited to bring this podcast to all of you to share their stories, tips - sometimes backed in some science from their Psychology degree days - and the good honest sometimes hard to hear truth about learning to say no, learning to set boundaries in your life, taking up your space unapologetically, and starting your laundry list of non-negotiables that hits every facet of your life.
But enough about the pod, the girls also give you the low down on each other so you can get to know your co-hosts on more of a surface level introduction - because yall will get closer and closer with each episode, but thought it be smart to start out with a little introduction of who the girls are, how they met, their first impressions of each other, and how the heck did this podcast come to be?!
