Author and registered dietician nutritionist Dawn Jackson Blatner joins Wendy Snyder to talk about how every meal does not have to be perfect, the benefits of watercress, the healthiest type of spread, if grocery store rotisserie chicken is good for you, and what foods can help your metabolism. Dawn also answers all of your health and nutrition questions.

The Mincing Rascals this week are Jon Hansen of WGN Radio and Block Club Chicago, Austin Berg, Executive Director of the Chicago Policy Center and author of the The Last Ward, and multi-media journalist Brandon Pope, author of Brandon Pope’s Screening Room. The ‘kids table’ Rascals begin the podcast by breaking down the last drama surrounding the Chicago budget. Will there be an agreement on the budget or are we heading towards a shutdown? There is a battle brewing on Chicago city streets! Humans v. robots. Have you seen delivery robots cruising down the sidewalks in the city? The Rascals debate the robot delivery program. Next, the Rascals try to unpack the bizarre story of fired Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore. Also on the football field, Notre Dame is skipping playing in a bowl game this year after being denied a spot in the College Football Playoff. Sour grapes? Former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan is asking President Donald Trump to pardon him. Do the Rascals believe that President Trump will pardon Madigan? Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi ran into a couple of issues this week regarding donations from MAGA-aligned donors and a false endorsement incident. Will these types of news stories make a dent in his Senate campaign? And finally, it’s time for red light, yellow light, green light! What are the Rascals recommending (or not recommending) this week?

Mortgage and real estate expert David Hochberg joins Wendy Snyder, filling in for John Williams, to talk about the impact of the Federal Reserve cutting interest rates again. What does this mean for you?

John is on vacation, but provides an update on this week’s podcast recording.

Ashley Joyce, Chairman of Duchossois Capital Management and the Duchossois Family Foundation, joins Wendy Snyder to talk about next week’s Salvation Army Radiothon and their generous $25,000 matching donation. Ashley tells Wendy about what the Salvation Army means to the Duchossois family, the importance of giving during the holiday season, how long the Duchossois family has been involved with the Salvation Army, how her parents inspired her to want to give back to the community, and why the Salvation Army Red Kettle program is so synonymous with giving.

Your donations to The Salvation Army will help keep families in their homes, put food on their tables, and brighten the holidays for children. And all gifts stay local to the Chicagoland area. Last year, The Salvation Army provided nearly 1 million meals, 400,000 cases of emergency assistance, and over 160,000 bags of groceries to neighbors in need. Click here to donate to John’s kettle! Every donation counts!

Noted pet expert Steve Dale, joins Wendy Snyder, filling in for John Williams, to talk about his new book, “Ask the Dog.”

Jim Summaria and Mark Plotnick join Wendy Snyder, filling in for John Williams, to talk about their newest book, ‘70’s Chicagoland Rock Concerts.’ Jim and Mark talk to Wendy about their first concerts, Jim describes how he became interested in rock-n-roll photography, the Chicago area venues that hosted the top artists of the time, and their most memorable Chicagoland shows from the 1970’s.
