I love talking with people about modalities that "saved their lives".  There is an intimate passion that comes forth that can't be imitated.  That's how I feel about speaking with Heather.  She has a deep passion around Kundalini yoga and Neuro Linguistic Programming because of the deep impact these practices had in her personal journey.  Heather is joining me today to talk about how moving your body and changing the way that you talk to yourself can impact you and your personal constitution. Leo Russell is back on the show to talk about her newest book "Yes, That White Woman Wants Your Baby; Stories From the Field of Social Work.  As you may be able to tell from the title, this book is taking a hard and honest look at our Social Workers and the fields that they operate in.  Leo's writing style has a way of blending atrocities and brutal honesty with a dash of humor. Through the natural discussion about her book, we transition into talks about our current government assistance programs and whether or not they are giving us an opportunity for a positive outcome.  There can be a lot of stigmas revolving around CPS, Welfare and other social services.  Sometimes when we find ourselves on the receiving end of these programs we can feel outcasted, ostracized, or even judged by those who are chosen to monitor us; even socially ousted from families or friend groups.  These government systems are set up to help those in need, but are they actually helping, or just deepening the divide between the haves and the have nots?

Grief can manifest itself in many different ways. It is typically associated with death or loss, but the loss can be anything that is important to you.  Today, I'm talking with Carmen Loeffler.  Carmen experienced the sudden loss of her husband at the age of 32.  As devastating as that has been, Carmen has turned this pain into her calling, becoming a grief coach and committing to helping others experience their grief. Some important questions and considerations come up during this topic; How strong is your support system? Is grief an eldering process? Why me, or why not me? If you commit to love, you commit to loss.  

Maybe we can view grief as and opening, instead of a closing.  Hopefully this conversation can give you another perspective on how to sit with and maybe appreciate the grief that is with you.

I have my dear friend, energetic mentor and owner of The Anam Cara Healing Center in Spokane, Hannah Talbot back for a 2 part series about our 7 Chakra system. Hannah has led countless workshops and trainings on this subject, so I'm excited for her to share her knowledge on our energetic system and how to use this as a road map for understanding our body, mind and spirit at any point in our life. In this first episode, we go through our Root, Sacral, Solarplexus and Heart Chakras, exploring ways to up and down regulate these energy centers to find balance and equanimity within yourself. One thing to keep front of mind is that once we find "balance" within an energy center, doesn't mean that it stays balanced. But creating the opportunity for awareness and observance may give us the ability to see when and where these centers need attention. I am joined today by author, yogi and an all around beautiful human, Jamie Rissman.  Jamie has many amazing messages and mentalities that she is spearheading; pregnant not powerless, embodiment practices for our teens, as well as embracing and normalizing "weirdness".
