Her brother pierced her eardrum with a piece of straw

H recalled his pop never awoke

H's mom would awake on any slightest noise

Mom was as good at hearing as a bloodhound

If one coughs at Siberia, mom will hear it

Phoebe wasn't at her own room

H forgot Phoebe always slept at d.b.'s

D.B. Had the biggest room in the house

D.B. bought a big desk from a woman drunkard in Philadelphia

D.B.also bought a very big bed somewhere

When Phoebe was doing her homework on d.b.'s desk, one can hardly see her

H went silently into d.b.'s room

Phoebe was sleeping soundly even after H turned on the light

Phoebe slept with cheek on the pillow

Phoebe slept with mouth open

That didn't disgust H

H hated it if adults slept with their mouths open

H said he's going to the Dickstein's

When the elevator climbed, the boy recalled that the Dicksteins were on the 14th floor having a party

H immediately made an impromptu that he was their nephew

Boy said H better waited at the lobby

H said he had a limping leg which needed a certain position not to feel hurting

That did it

When the elevator door opened, H limped his leg to the direction of the Dickstein's

Upon the closing of elevator door, H hurried to open his own door

Nobody's in

H got inside safely

Then people turned on their radio and went someplace swanky to have dinners--all except Alliée

H then threw the 5 quarters and the one nickel into the part of lagoon that was not yet frozen

He thought by this distraction, he'd forget all about his getting pneumonia and die

But it didn't

Then H changed to think of going to see the ducks

It was 1am Tuesday now

It was so dark that H dropped his record

The record broke to pieces

H held on to the last piece inside the record envelope

H knew the park well but he was drunk and lost his way

H had to spend some time locating the duck pond

H's hair had little hunks of ice

H imagined he died and was in his own funeral

H remembered his halitosis aunt kept talking about calmness of Allie

H hated people sticking their heads peeping his coffin

H thought who needed rose after one died

After got hung up by Sally, H sobered up a little bit

H lurched to the gent's to bury his whole head into a basin of very cold water

H now got his head and hair all dripping

H moved to the window radiator of the gent's to get some warmth

H head shivering all over

The piano player came in to comb his wavy golden hair

H asked gay piano player to pay Valencia his compliment

The gay sneered

H asked if he needed a manager

Gay told him to go home and left

H cried because now even a gay looked down on him

H fumbled to the check room(衣帽間）

H lost his check but the hat check lady gave his coat to him

H thought to date the hat lady

Hat lady said she was old enough to be his mother
