WAP went to number 1 in the Billboard chart but that hasn't stopped conversation of controversy around the track. As Dr Jen Gunter wrote for The New York Times, "I don’t think "WAP” is going to smash the patriarchy, replace sex education or end predatory feminine hygiene practices, but talking about it is an empowering next step."

The level of discussion/outrage about WAP rarely takes place with male rap. Why is it when women are direct with their sexuality, they're met with anger, disgust and extreme discussion?  

WAP opens up a conversation that's (clearly) still needed around women, their sexuality and pleasure; it's also an insight into female sexuality from a female narrative. 

Unlike a lot of male rap, the song doesn't degrade men; it doesn't objectify them. So, why are men weighing in on the discussion?
