  • Casual, Exclusive, Real

So many singles are currently asking themselves the question, “how do I bring a relationship from something casual to that life long commitment?” The Panty Kickers have some hot tips on how to get serious with no bologna!

    Carolyn says:

    * Give yourself around 6 months to get to exclusive. 3 months for causal dating and 3 months of exclusive dating. * At the end of 6 months be real about moving forward or not!* Casual should be about connecting and initial chemistry. Exclusive should be like a “temp” period where you are really trying the relationship on for size.

    Becca says:

    * The Carlton:  If you have something that you feel is a pressing part of who you are don’t wait too long to disclose.* The Marc:  Never, ever accept someone’s disrespect because  you like them.  If they aren’t giving you back 100% of what you’re giving them do not fight for that imbalance.* The Cameron: Check in! Don’t be annoying about it, but don’t be afraid to ask how the person you are dating is feeling about where the relationship is going.

HOMEWORK: Interview your favorite couple, who you most admire, and ask them how they got from casual to exclusive to real.  You may be surprised by what you find!

We are available on ITUNES, STITCHER, OVERCAST AND SPOTIFY!  Please rate, review, and share a favorite episode with a friend!

See you next week for Shayla’s Q&A: “I’ve been dating this guy for a year, he’s met my family and even come over for thanksgiving.  I’ve yet to meet his family and he says it’s because his mother is really judgmental and he wants to spare my feelings. What the hell is that supposed to mean??” and for our next full-length episode: Empathy for Your Partner

  • Q&A 24 – How Do I Unlearn Monogamy?

    SHOW NOTES – Q&A 24, Season 2

Brit writes: “Hi B+C, I’m learning that traditional relationships (monogamous single partner relationships) are not going to work for me. Unfortunately, years of being raised in a society that pushes this type of relationship on us all keeps popping it’s head up when I try to explore new styles of relationships. Do you have any suggestions on ways I can unlearn and break down some of the expectations that come along with these learned traditional relationship behaviors?”

    Carolyn + Becca say:

    * Do what makes YOU happy and don’t worry about anyone else!* Find like minded people to share your thoughts with and pump them for information on how to make it all work.* Find someone whose freak flag flies in tandem with yours, or do a little soul searching to find what you are comfortable paying to get your own slice of freedom.* Always be upfront and honest with your partners about what the “ideal” scenario for you would be.* Go toward your joy!* Emphasis to friends and family how happy and sane you are, if you are!

  • Boundaries

Psychology today says: Boundaries can be defined as the limits we set with other people, which indicate what we find acceptable and unacceptable in their behavior towards us. Join the Panty Kickers for an important discussion about how setting boundaries can make you a whole and healthy person.

    Carolyn says:

    * Get some self awareness: What are your dealbreakers? What are you willing to accept?* Remember that you are them most important person in your life and your opinion of yourself is what really matters.* Teach people how to treat you.

    Becca says:

    * The first step in understanding and setting boundaries that matter is to do an audit.  Really think about times in your life where others actions made you feel uncomfortable and examine what the stem cause of that is.* Expect some people to walk away (or force you to push them away) when you boundary check – not everyone will be comfortable with you asserting yourself in a clear way. * Follow your gut.  Your body always lets you know when a boundary is being crossed in your life.

HOMEWORK: Are you someone who always prioritizes other’s needs above your own?  Do you struggle with saying no and setting personal boundaries?  This week, say no to something you don’t want to do and don’t make an excuse.  Just say simply “No, thank you”,  or “No, I can’t help with that this week.” and see how liberating it is to set 1 simply boundary around time.  If someone asks you to take their shift at work, say, “no”.  If someone asks you for a dollar on the street, say, “no”.  If someone asks you for your number, say, “no”.  Practicing the all powerful, “no” can be a great way to begin asserting your boundaries.

  • Q&A 23 – Is it okay to ghost someone you just started dating?

    SHOW NOTES – Q&A 23, Season 2

Devon writes: “Dear panty kickers I’ve been dating this guy for a few months but I don’t think it’s going anywhere. I want to break it off with him, but since we’ve only spent a short amount of time together do I owe him an explanation? I want to just ghost him but I hate when that happens to me! How do I end something that didn’t even begin? Help!!”

    Carolyn says:

    * Don’t do it!* There is a difference between the “slow fade” and straight up ghosting.* Consider how many intimate moments you have shared with each other before you decide how to end the relationship.

    Becca says:

    * Don’t do it, it’s rude!* Be part of a new community of people who will hold others accountable for crappy online dating behavior.* You never know when this person may pop up in your future, be wise. * Follow the golden rule, do unto others…

  • Real Life Romance

What is “real” life? We are so attached to our computers, phones, tablets, and TVs – are we living “real” life? Are we being present with our partners? And if not, are we allowing romance into our lives? The Panty Kickers help you find real life romance this week on Kick on the Panties, enjoy!

    Carolyn says:

    * Remember it’s all bullshit. Likes and comments on a pic you posted should not be your validation that somebody cares about you. It matters way more how they treat you in real life.* Does this really matter to you or are you showing off for other people? Examining your own motivations is a really great first step to unplugging.* Don’t over complicate something that can already be complicated, relationships are hard enough with out a layer of tech.

    Becca says:

    * The number one key to finding real life romance is to totally UNPLUG a few times a week and at least once a day. * Notice your surroundings, are you letting life pass you by with you nose in your phone?  If you’re single, are you missing possible connections in the world simply because you aren’t leaving yourself open to seeing them?* In a marriage, keep the romance going by A) sharing your feelings, B) making sex happen, C) show your partner you care.

HOMEWORK: PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN! …after you listen to this 🙂

  • Q&A 22 – “Closure”

SHOW NOTES – Q&A 22, Season 2 Melissa writes: “Dear Panty Kickers, I want to see my ex one more time for closure, is that a bad idea?”

    Carolyn says:

    * Don’t do it!* You cannot ask the person who did the damage to feel the damage.* What would the perfect scenario be if you could sit down and get closure – it’s not going to happen!* You broke up for a reason, let time heal your wounds.

    Becca says:

    * You need a lot of space and time before seeking closure of any kind.* Try to see that the person CANNOT give you what you need, instead of thinking that they are holding it back.* You’ll never be able to force the person to say what you want them to say, and even if you can, you’ll know they don’t mean it!* If you are seeking forgiveness of yourself or someone else, give it time and then be open and honest about why you’re reaching out- now that’s the kind of closure we could all benefit from!
