Knowing is Half the Podcast

Well before post apocalyptic was en vogue came a cartoon that was light years ahead of its time. Thundarr the Barbarian takes place in the ruined United States in the many years following a meteor collision, where mutations and magic are both abundant! This week we have the full team of Ray, Chan, and Gina to break down this overlooked cartoon that might have won us all over....or that might be the cupcakes talking....

Ah yes, the magical world of The Disney Afternoon! Magic and Mystery are part of their history for goodness sake! This week Holly Mckee Clark (The Pack Theater) and Knowing All-Star Meredith Morris join us to break down what was the final episode of The Gummi Bears! Do you love it when the Gummi Bears drink Gummi Berry Juice, bounce around, and appear as main characters in episodes of this show? Well, maybe this episode isn't the one for you! But it's definitely the one for us!!!

This week we're doing a suggestion from one of our new Patreon patrons...Super Mario Brothers Super Show presents The Legend of Zelda!

Gina is doing important Hollywood stuff this week so we are joined once again by Knowing All Star Meredith Morris! Ray remembers Zelda as being an excellent show from his childhood, did it hold up? What's with the Vaudeville sketches with Mario and Luigi to start/end each episode? And why is Link's catchphrase a direct rip off of Steve Martin? So swing your arms from side to side and let's do the Mario ALL TOGETHER NOW!!!

Catherine Durickas and Eileen Mary O'Connell join us for the craziest Duck Tales episode that we could find. Would it be enough if a simple mistake led Uncle Scrooge to think he was dying? Probably! But what if I told you that for no firmly understood reason we leaped into the movie Tron halfway through? Yup, that's where this episode is going...

Join us on Twitter, Facebook, and Patreon!

This week, comedian Elizabeth Hayhurst joins us to talk about the controversial and banned episode of one of the very few cartoons she was allowed to watch as a kid! Also, Knowing All-Star Eileen Mary O'Connell returns to wax poetic on her favorite era of cartoons. All that and Ray drops a bombshell on Chan that will make him never look at his doorknobs the same way again!

Check us out on all the social media!

Christmas may be over, but - thanks to our singular lack of scheduling acumen - the Christmas episodes are still going! This time we've got Life with Louie, which is dour enough to dampen even the most ardent holiday cheer.

Back in the '90s, all it took to get your own cartoon was to own a blazer and a headshot with a brick wall behind you. After every last Comedy Store hanger-on had their shot, someone gave Louie Anderson a show. As a comedian, nobody's denying that Anderson earned his stripes, but who thought it was a good idea to combine grotesque animation with his signature nasal twang - much less have him voice multiple roles?

354 days until we revert to our old name, Knowing Is Half the Podcast! Follow us on Twitter @GIJoePodcast or on Facebook as Knowing Season 3. Thanks for listening!

Welcome to season three of ‘Knowing Is Half the Podcast’ which, for contractual reasons, we’re calling ‘Knowing’. Same great cartoons! Same awful hosts! We’re joined in this “inaugural” episode by Dominique Johnson, who brings us a cartoon whose sum is not equal to its parts. Despite being a fine animated series, the ‘90s X-Men put together a complete shitshow of a Christmas ep. Keep up wth us on Twitter @GIJoePodcast or on Facebook (you can still find us by searching for Knowing Is Half the Podcast) and our Patreon is still live. The new feed should transfer over if you're on iTunes, but everyone else may have to resubscribe. From Gina, Ray, and Chan - Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Festive Solstice, or whatever you celebrate! Thanks for listening!
