With Heart of Stone now on Netflix director Tom Harper and actor Matthias Schweighöfer sit down with Kyle Meredith to dig into the Gal Gadot-starring action film. The two discuss how the movie reflects our current conversations around A.I. and how they both see it’s encroachment on the future of their professions, as well as the more intimate acting Schweighöfer was able to do in contrast with the action happening around Gadot. Mattias also lets us in on what he’d like to see as his character’s action sequence song (hint: It’s a Rod Stewart classic), while Harper divulges on how Foreigner’s “I Want To Know What Love Is” ended up backdropping one of the funnier scenes. And with the obvious question hanging in the air, we also hear thoughts on if they want this to be a franchise, and if so, what that means for a slow motion action scene with Mattias in the future.

In the wake of The Band's Robbie Robertson passing away on August 9th, we're honoring his memory be releasing this 2019 episode of Kyle Meredith With... Robertson's family, who were with him when he died, said this in a statement through his management: "Robertson recently completed his fourteenth film music project with frequent collaborator Martin Scorsese, Killers of the Flower Moon,” the statement continued. “In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Six Nations of the Grand River to support the building of their new cultural center.”
Here are the show notes from the original episode's release:
Legendary co-founder of The Band Robbie Robertson speaks with Kyle Meredith about Sinematic, his first solo album in eight years, and how it ties in with the score to Martin Scorsese's The Irishman. From there, he discusses his long collaborative history with the legendary filmmaker, one that dates back to The Last Waltz and Raging Bull, and how his knack for writing character studies has been appealing to Scorsese. It's also the 50th anniversary of The Band's self-titled sophomore LP, so naturally, Kyle and Robertson take a trip back to 1969 to discuss what it was like to be part of a musical revolution with Bob Dylan and how he's retracing all of this history in the new documentary, Once Were Brothers. Robbie also teases a follow up to Testimony, his 2016 autobiography, which will focus on his career after The Band broke up.
Moroccan-Canadian singer-songwriter Faouzia joins Kyle Meredith to talk about her latest single, "La La La," and proclaims this is "a doll summer." She hashes out why she's going for a more uptempo sound with her latest set, keeping her influences hidden for a more original sound, and not having an Arabic-Western pop artist to look to when she was young. Faouzia also discusses why she decided to cover Eiffel 65's "I'm Blue" and that contrary to some interpretations, last year's Citizen was only an EP, meaning that she's yet to release her debut album.

Cosentino also discusses how she leaned into the sound of 90s heroes like Counting Crows, Sheryl Crow, REM, and Liz Phair, and having Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Garbage’s Shirley Manson offer encouragement and guidance.
