On LGHL’s Outside the Shoe podcast, we talk all things Ohio State athletics that happen outside the confines of the Horseshoe.
In today’s episode, Meredith recaps the current Ohio State men’s ice hockey season and looks ahead to the No. 11 Buckeyes’ matchup with No. 6 Penn State in State College this weekend. Ohio State is looking to bounce back after losing their last two matchups in a series against No. 3 Notre Dame, but the Nittany Lions present a formidable foe with the No. 3 scoring offense in the NCAA.
Penn State sits atop the Big Ten standings, but there’s a lot of hockey left to be played, and a series win on the road for the Buckeyes could certainly position Ohio State well down the stretch.

On today’s episode, we are in conversation with ESPN basketball analyst Jay Bilas. We spoke to Jay a week ago today, so about a day and a half after The Ohio State men’s basketball team beat Villanova 76-51, and the day after it was announced that Chase Young would be able to return to the football field for the Penn State game.
In our conversation we talk about both the Buckeyes’ win over Villanova and the Chase Young suspension, as well as Chris Holtmann’s impact on the OSU program, what Jay’s seen from the Ohio State freshmen in the early going of the season, his very strong feelings about the NCAA’s rules and how they are applied to student athletes, and much more.
