A disappointing book from an incredible author
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
At the beginning of the book I was thoroughly engaged and incredibly interested. However, as the story progressed I became less and less engaged and found myself drifting off and having to drift off. This was incredibly disappointing as Chris Kuzneski is one of my favourite authors, and I found this book to be drastically less engaging and well researched than all of his previous books.
Would you recommend The Einstein Pursuit to your friends? Why or why not?
I would definitely not recommend the book as I know the author to be incredibly talented. However, this book was such a disappointment, that I would be concerned that the book would put people off listening to his other stories
    Kuzneski's at his best
Very enjoyable. The Story moved at a cracking pace. More from Payne & Jones please.
    Lack luster
I have read quite a few of Kuzneski's books, and overall, l would recommend them. The Jones and Payne partnership is fun, action packed, likeable and totally unrealistic, but I guess fiction is mostly that - fictional. Saying that, until this novel, there was an historical element that wove well through the stories, and kept the partnership, and their capers, in the 'exciting, fast paced and interesting' category. This story, however, didn't hit that mark. Starting well and within the realms of previous novels, it had all the markings of another thrills and spills ride. I know, as a girl, I'm not at all keen on the technical data of weaponry, but previously it hadn't taken priority, but this latest book takes the biscuit. Once the action took off, I spent many a chapter wishing the characters would shut up about their p***s extensions, and actually spend a bit more time talking about why, where and how. There isn't a similar feel to previous Payne and Jones novels, no real historical slant, and not a plot to tax your brain. I'm sorry, it has rather put me off reading further CK's.
    Good but a bit wordy
It's a good book but as usual with this author the story is padded out with a bit too much narrative.

    Captivating Reading Adventure
I have read all of Brian Wiprud's humorous books and they were just fun to read and enjoy. So I held off on his crime novels because I liked the humor and Michael Connelly satisfied my need for crime. I've been reading and enjoying Robert Parker's Spencer crime novels and thought I would give Wiprud's The Clause a try, what the heck, you can always put it down and pick up something else. Wow! Wiprud's crime novel is not a Spencer or a Harry Bosch, from the very start you just want to keep turning the pages to see what happens next. A lot of detail that will take a second read to fully appreciate. While the book is described as a crime novel, that is just a medium for a great adventure with lots of twists and turns. It is written in the first person so you know that Gill will make it to the end, but how he does it navigating through the Serbs, Cubans, Chinese, CIA, FBI and personal emotions is amazing. Brian Wiprud is very good at ending his books with surprises that are not anticipated and are long remembered. I got half way through the book enjoying each time I had a chance to read a few chapters and then couldn't put it down until it was finished. Wiprud's humor is great, but his crime is amazing, I will read anything he writes!
    Best Wiprud Yet
I've been a big fan of Brian Wiprud's since I discovered his Sleep With The Fishes, such a volatile combination of noir, oddball humor, and fishing lore. But THE CLAUSE finds Wiprud in a whole new vein. He's still got that sardonic wit, but now it's far more personal. The baddies are far more bad, and in varying degrees. The consequences are far more grave, both for the characters and for society. The multiple plot levels intertwine even more deftly than ever before. The action scenes pop right off the page.
And this one really stays with you. Highly recommended for readers looking for a little more substance in their suspense reading.
(Don't tell my relatives, but they're all getting THE CLAUSE for Christmas.)
    Excellent Reading
The CLAUSE (an understood option of each man for himself and never betraying his handler) is an exciting read featuring our hero, Gill Underwood and his lady friend Trudy, both with former military ops training. They team up to heist a jewelry find of $150 million. Unfortunately, they also run into the Russians, the Serbians, the Cubans, the Chinese and all the while under the watchful eye of the FBI, the CIA and I believe the NSA. Luckily our hero employs the Sun Tzu's Art of War and always lucks out by playing one against the other. This is not my normal choice of reading but I'm glad I stumbled upon it for $1.99. Worth every penny.

Who will live and who will die?
A team of burglars plans to rob a secluded country house in Waterbury, Connecticut while the famous owner is away visiting relatives for the holidays. But volatile relationships within this family lead to a last minute change in plans, and three generations convene in Waterbury instead. When the burglars arrive to find the house occupied instead of empty, a simple crime quickly becomes complicated in this gripping psychological thriller.
    Editorial Reviews:
Narrator Christopher Kipiniak's cerebral performance amps up the tension in this psychological thriller from best-selling author Katia Lief. A pair of robbers plans to break into the house of famous author Fiona Carson, expecting her to be away for Thanksgiving. However, volatile relationships within Fiona's family means that they decide to spend Thanksgiving at her house. When the two burglars arrive to find the house occupied, they panic and take the family hostage, and a simple crime spirals out of control.
Kipiniak's pacing is sharply taut and nail-biting, and he does exceptional work with expressing the range of characters in this audiobook, hinting at the strain and emotions underneath their words.

    Everybody's Worst Fear
This was an addicting a book. A family getting together to celebrate Thanksgiving. A married couple who are drifting apart, their youngest daughter, their oldest daughter all gather together. The husband and the boyfriend of the oldest daughter are expected to arrive Thanksgiving day. Thanksgiving Eve 2 men enter the house expecting to find that it's empty and the owner is away, they get quite the surprise. I love how the author takes us into the mind of each character, every family member and each criminal - excellent job! I can't wait to read more of her books, I finished this one in a sitting - highly recommended.
    Waterbury
This is the story of how a simple robbery goes wrong - a supposedly empty house over Thanksgiving - a quick turnover of goods and a quick getaway - simple - maybe not if the house is not empty!! Things quickly get out of hand which leads to a good, exciting and fast paced read. This authoress certainly knows how to keep her readers entertained and interested from first to last page. Enjoy, I know I did.
    Waterbury
This has been my favourite so far. Suspenseful, scary but with a very good story line. I wonder has many times similar things have happened in real life or robberies when a person is known to be away on holidays
    Good
I did enjoy this book. It was very easy reading-had a nice flow to it. Got interesting right away and stayed that way!
    Twists and turns
I liked this book, but didn't love it. I have really enjoying the other books I have read by Katia Lief, but this was not a favorite.

    Horrible
What disappointed you about Revenge, Inc.?
The story seem to be a good one but I couldn't listen to it for long because the narrator was terrible. The editing can be heard through the first part of the book with the narrator repeating the same words.
    Any additional comments?

This death plunges the Baron into a mystery filled with both danger and intrigue, at its root a priceless jewel. The Baron must solve it or die.
Master crime fiction writer John Creasey's near 600 titles have sold more than 80 million copies in over 25 languages under both his own name and multiple other pseudonyms. His style varied with each identity and led to him being regarded as a literary phenomena. Amongst the many series written were "Gideon of Scotland Yard", "The Toff", "The Baron", "Dr. Palfrey" and "Inspector West", as JJ Marric, Michael Halliday, Patrick Dawlish and others.
    Editorial Reviews:
John Creasey is one of the 20th centurys most prolific British writers. He wrote countless mystery novels as well as diping into many other genres. This episode of his Baron series was, in fact, originally written under one of his many pen names; Anthony Morton. It involves a fairly classic mystery trope: a mysterious, priceless diamond whose owners all come to violent ends. Carl Prekoff has the perfect delivery style for this type of novel. He performs the narration with a well-paced, warm, British articulation but has a lot of fun with the varied characters' accents and attitudes coming from every strata of society.

Seems a hooker was found dead in the streets. The hooker's father wants Cooper Investigations to look into it, but the father is killed before he can have the first meeting with Elliott. Not to worry. Matt Cooper's descendants will handle this case with the same professionalism he practiced. Count on it.
    Members Reviews:
    Good
Read all the multi-packs and shorts packs long ago, since 2012. The author has gotten better with age/practice. I've read all of the Cooper stories (1 - 230) and several of Mr. Bernico's short stories and most have not disappointed me. You'll find some poorly written or predictable stories, but for the most part they are fair to good.
The Cooper series are better, but there's a few stinkers, too. They're great for a coffee break or a few minutes to relax.
    Kidnapping and murder
Unfortunately, this story begins with Clay and Elliott Cooper standing over Matt's grave. They'd come to pay their respects to 3 family members.
The story develops as Elliott (now running the business) receives a phone call from a man claiming he urgently needed help. However, the man never arrived at the office to explain his situation.
Later, Elliott takes Clay to dinner, and as the waitress leans over Elliott to replace the napkin he had dropped on the floor, she is shot in the side as a bullet pierces the window. Clay informs Elliott he is definitely going to help investigate!
This is a story of murder and kidnapping. Someone has a secret he doesn't want others to discover. Shots are taken at both Elliott and Clay. We have already bidden farewell to Matt. Are we going to lose his son or grandson as well?
Another good story for Cooper fans, this is a quick read that is well worth your time. Lots of action so get ready to join Cooper Investigations and Lieutenant Hollister as they track down the man with the agenda. You will not be disappointed.

    Editorial Reviews:
Crime writer John Creasey's audiobook is a masterfully crafted mystery. Part of the Baron Series, this episode stars John Mannering, a.k.a. the Baron. Despite warnings, Mannering risks his hide to rescue two girls imprisoned in the walls of an old country manor. Carl Prekopp gives a standout performance. His overall tone is quite menacing and his pacing dramatic. Prekopp builds mystery with well-placed pauses and urgency with a sometimes galloping pace. Listeners who love a good thriller won't want to miss A Rope for the Baron.

    A little unbelievable
This is my first experience of a Suzanne Bugler novel and I was rather disappointed. The story starts out well and I did find the first half a compelling listen. However I found that the central character's behaviour becomes increasingly unbelievable and by the end I had little empathy for her situation. It is a very drawn out listen and I must admit that I did skip a few chapters just to find out what happened. The reader however is excellent and I will definitely listen to other books narrated by Juanita McMahon.
