German being my second language, I found this book to be not too difficult to read-I would consider myself to be high-intermediate/low-advanced in my level of fluency. As for the story itself, it was interesting and kept a good pace. Each chapter had significant developments that kept the story moving. The last five chapters are filled with gore, so be ready for that.

Very brutal

Well written - but a very disturbing book. I am not sure if I will read the second book although I have already purchased it. I had based my purchase on the high ratings from other readers. I love a good "Krimi" but if the second book is as violent as Benutzt - I may look for an author that can write a good book without having to "kill" multiple family members. Maybe a little more wit and a lot less gore would go along way.

It's an endurance contest--both because of length,but also because of the nature of the topic-- tough stuff, with a less-than-satisfying ending. Cudoes to the narrator for sticking with it so well. A flaw: the American characters needed American slang to speak, not British slang. This book will open your eyes to a dark side of life you can't imagine.This

Dead Pan is the fourth book in a series. Josh O'Roarke is a stage Actress unfortunately jobs have dried up for her in New York. She has ended her relationship with Nypd Let Phillip Gerard. Well crafted mystery.

Both good writers and good actors have the ability to make their characters believable. Jane Dentinger is both a writer and actress and she has created the wonderful character of Jocelyn (Josh) O'Roarke, an actress and director who often finds herself around murder.

Josh has gone out to Hollywood to work on a TV movie. Shortly after her arrival, the director of photography turns up dead by cyanide gas poisoning. Buddy Banks was also the uncle of the former child star who has the lead in the movie. Josh immediately begins to try and ferret out the truth. Along the way, there are assaults, supposed accidents on the set, a possible

embezzlement, and a secret real estate deal that she has to sort out.

This is a well written and interesting mystery, full of authentic details about the acting profession. The characters are believable, the writing is good and the plot is well constructed. I have read all of the Josh O'Roarke mysteries and this one is my favorite.

Murderer Enters Stage Left

I read these books out of order but I don't recommend it. Dentiger has done a good job of giving a sense of closure to each book; however, the overall story arc is also important.

This story involves an attempt to save a grand old New York threatre, the Burbage, from the wrecking ball.

Excellent

It's very rare that a book hooks me from the start like this. I really got a feeling for the characters early on and they had their own personalities which really gave the story depth. The narrator did an excellent job of bringing those personalities through too.

I really hope this is the beginning of a series for grace fisher, I will be keeping an eye out for the next one!

Excellent Gripping Book - very well read

If you could sum up Good Girls Don't Die in three words, what would they be?

A first for me by this author and I couldn't stop listening! A good British book, with decent modest detectives. Excellent all round.

A good read & worth buying

Nice to listen to a story that doesn't use or need graphic sexual content , nicely written explaining a women's struggle in a male dominated environment without banging on about the injustice of it or women's Lib and very well narrated by Melody Grove .

Good, but too long!

What did you like best about Good Girls Don't Die? What did you like least?

Its well written, with well drawn characters. It would have been at least a 4* if not that it was too drawn out. It needed editing down. It was a good story, but I lost interest from time to time because it just went on, and on. Should have been tighter.

What does Melody Grove bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?

Her narration is excellent here.

If this book were a film would you go see it?

Yes.

Faulty recording but a very good, well read story

One of the early chapters was randomly repeated as chapter 15 or 16 but apart from that minor irritation it was a very good book, I enjoyed it. I liked the narrator it was well read and easy to listen to. I will look out for more from this author.
