    Suspense and Drama. Love it.
This was so suspenseful and riveting. I couldn't put it down. I just wanted to find out what would happen next. I listened to the end. I didn't sleep until it was finished Loved it! I would absolutely recommend it. It was a pleasure listening to this audio book. Fast paced, exciting, lots of suspense and the surprising ending was just awesome.
Jeff Bower was superb. He captured my interest and his women's voice changes were very good. Of course the men's voices were excellent. Great job.
I liked this book. The paranormal interest was well managed and added to the suspense. It was well-written, with good character development and likeable characters. The psychic part worked really well in this story.
Thanks for a great read Couldn't put it down until the surprising end. I highly recommend this book. Be warned, it is addictive and prepare to forget sleep until you come to the end.

    Title: Before the Edge
Subtitle: On the Edge, Book 0.5

    Narrator: Todd Waites

    Language: English
    Release date: 03-04-14
    Publisher: Kallysten
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 7 votes

    Publisher's Summary:
For Lisa, The Cliff was just one more bar to visit, one more competitor to gauge on her way to opening her own club. The verbal abuse unleashed on her by a patron is unexpected, but not entirely unusual: As a vampire, she has been called worse than "killer" or "thing" before. What is new, on the other hand, is the intervention of the bar's owner. Lisa isn't used to humans trying to protect her, and she finds Brett strangely endearing.
For his part, Brett isn't all that comfortable being around a vampire, but now that he has thrown out the lout who was insulting Lisa, he can hardly ask her to leave. After getting to know her a little, however, he starts seeing the woman beyond the fangs, and when she returns the next night he's ready to share a dance with heror even a little more.

Kallysten has chosen well. Waites narration
The introduction to Kallystens On the Edge series is now in audio form. Ive read this in eBook form, so I already was familiar with the story, and I was pleased to have the opportunity to relax and listen to the story again.
Enter the world where vampires are citizens, and like many places, prejudice and discrimination against those who are different runs rampant. Brett owns a local bar, and while he doesnt personally know any vamps, he isnt willing to allow anyone to be belittled in his establishment.
Lisa is a leggy blonde with attitude and confidence. She also happens to be a vampire and while not in need of rescue from an angry patron who is looming over her, Bretts quick response to the situation in defense of her was surprising.
I enjoyed the interplay between Brett and Lisa: Kallysten brings you characters that arrive formed, and through their interactions and actions you see them develop and fill out. While both have some issues and reservations, they are well-matched and paired, and their chemistry is steamy and sexy: there are no sparkles here unless its in a lame dress or a piece of jewelry.
The narration for this novella is provided by Todd Waites; with a Midwestern-feeling accent his delivery is smooth and rhythmic without great modulation in pitch or tone to delineate character differences. His delivery was neither too fast nor to slow, and he manages to add a touch of emotional nuance that deepens the impact of the words.
For her first foray into the world of audio, Kallysten has chosen well. Waites narration is well-suited to the story and the novella format of this series gives listeners and readers lots of options without great time investment. If you want an entrée into a different style of vampire story, that mixes characters, emotions and sex with equal abandon this is a great one to investigate.
I received an AudioBook copy of the title from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
    neat prequel
I listened to another book in the authors other series first so I already had ideas of who these characters are but to hear how they met and got together was interesting. also makes you think about how prejudice people are and how they would act towards the supernatural if they were real. there is adult content, no violence.

Sometimes life can be a real witch. Meet Maxie Duncan. Your average 23-year-old blonde. If you can call being wealthy, gorgeous, and knowing what the future holds at times, average. After her fiancee blindsides her with a breakup at their favorite restaurant, she leaves Maine for a shot at being Hollywood's new 'it girl.' There's only one problem. She's never acted a day in her life. When a big Hollywood director sends her packing, she realizes if she wants to stay in L.A., she may have to become a normal girl after all. But normal has never been in the cards for her. Strange things keep happening wherever she goes, a red-eyed shadow no one else sees is stalking her, and to top it off, she may be falling in love again, with either the bookish guy next door, or Hollywood's hottest leading man. But everything isn't what it seems. Someone's keeping secrets from her. Is it her new friends at the apartment building she moved into? Or is it Ryan Everheart, the actor who wants to sweep her off her feet? And why are her feet suddenly floating off the ground? It's enough to drive a girl insane. All Maxie wants to do is ride off into the sunset with her one true love and find a killer pair of Manolo Blahniks on the way. But how's a girl supposed to focus on a love life and shopping when everywhere she turns someone or something is trying to kill her?

    An Ok Paranormal
Maxie Duncan is the typical poor-little-rich-girl. She gets dumped by her fiance for another woman. Knows how to do nothing but be arm candy, so she decides to run off to Hollywood to be an actress. Once she's there she believes she'll take the city by storm but she's really just another face in the crowd. She blows her first audition & instead of figuring out what to do to learn how to act, she has a meltdown in the hotel hallway.
This is where she meets her new BFF Evangaline. Van takes her home to be her new roomie. Maxie tries (and spectacularly) fails at her first 2 attempts at regular jobs. Most likely because she again has no clue what she's doing. But Van believes she'd be perfect working at the hotel. So she goes to work for Van where she meets movie star Ryan Everhart, who promptly asks her out. She's starstruck & immediately accepts even though she's made plans with Van's boyfriend's bestie. All three of her new friends try to warn her away from Ryan, but none of them give her any concrete details. Wham, bam. Instant love for Ryan & Maxie.
Then strange things start happening. Maxie starts to be attacked by strange people. And other strange things happen as well. Then she discovers she's a witch. And Ryan's a vampire. And Ryan's family wants to use her in a vampire power play.
    New Witch Blues
This was a fun little story with a girl who was annoying but seemed to grow a bit. The characters were fairly real to life because I really disliked Maxie when she started acting all stuck up and that type of dislike is reserved for someone I can relate to. The story got me interested and kept me interested to the very end with a few twists I did not see coming.
Maxie is a little rich girl who thought she was going to have the perfect little rich life. Then her fiancee dumps her just weeks before their wedding for a nobody girl named Sunday.

Book two of The Triton Experiment
Intergalactic mercenary Kat Darah has been ordered to keep her shape-shifting ability a secret from everyone but those closest to her, for her own safety. She's learned how to control the feral rage...for the most part. But when Lieutenant Rygard's military unit goes missing, she'll use every skill she has to find her man.
Lt. Christopher Rygard has witnessed his girl shift, and he still wants her. After Kat rescues him from alien clutches, he'd like nothing more than to wrap her in his arms again, but his first duty is to his men. And half of them have been shipped off-planet to be sold as slaves.
Kat and Rygard will need to form a new team to go deep undercover, posing as gladiators and learning to fight together in order to survive. In the arena, it's all about who is the strongest predator....
See how it all began in Hunting Kat.

So happy to see Kat and Rygard again!
Interests: Sci-Fi Romance, Shifters, Intergalactic Military, Tough Women
    Quick Summary
Genetic Experiment, Kaitlyn Dahara, is used to her life on board a merc ship but ever since meeting LT Rygard, her life has been changing. When Rygard's military camp is attacked by strange simian-like humans, Kat and her team are sent on a rescue mission alongside Terran military. But not all the men are there when they arrive; some have been injected with the same virus that turned Kat and then sent to the Coliseum -- a planet specializing in gladiator style fighting among aliens. Going undercover, Kat and Rygard must pretend to be slaves and fight through the cage matches so that they can find Rygard's missing team members. But the more Kat embraces her feline side the harder it is to come back fully human.
    What I Liked
I liked seeing more of Kat and Rygard since the ending of Hunting Kat was not a traditional HEA. I also loved that they were "together" in the relationship sense the whole time. I was really worried that there would be a break up and then they'd work themselves back to each other but instead their feelings were there the whole time. It was also really sweet the way Rygard always referred to Kat as my girl when he was thinking about her. Rygard's feelings never wavered even when he was faced with Kat's feline side and her struggle to control it. He was supportive the whole time and just wanted what was best for Kat. I loved Rygard, he's the perfect hero throughout.
    What Needed Work
I was really excited about the gladiator games mentioned in the description but they didn't feature as prominently as I was hoping. It took a while to even get to the Coliseum and then there was only a few chapters while they were there. It presented such an interesting challenge to their survival as well as the internal struggle Kat went through; the more she embraced her animal side, the more she liked the violence inherent in the games. There were times where I had no idea what was going on, particularly when Kat and Bharguest were talking. I think Schnyder was trying to make Bharguest more mysterious by talking in riddles but it made it harder to figure out what he was saying.

    ReadingRuthie
I read Krinard's "Daysider" novel and thought I would enjoy "Nightmaster" as much. However, I thought the plot and characters were not well-developed and the ending felt contrived. I enjoy books where the female lead is feisty and strong, but not where she well outshines the hero. Trinity was able to get away with speech and actions that simply were not to be believed given the nature of the society she had infiltrated. Also, many of her actions and boldness out shown Ares, the hero. The two, Ares and Trinity, just did not seem to fit. I finished the book, but felt it was lacking in substance, character development and romantic believability. Even the love scenes were dry and underdeveloped. The ending felt like, "Oh, I need to bring this book to a conclusion in the next fifty pages." I like Susan Krinard, but this novel just didn't make it for me.
    fun read
To be honest I read a book a day so its hard to remember enough to fairly critique it . I did enjoy it enough to know that I will be purchasing the next book.
    ok
I know this is the 2nd book and I liked it more than the 1st. Like the world the other created. People and vampires have an unstable truce. The hero and heroine are a good match for each other. Both smart and tough. I'll be reading the next one 2 find out whar happens.
    Great vampire novel
Good book can't wait to read the next one
    Loved it!
I REALLY enjoyed reading this book! Love this world and the characters in it. I hope to see more of Ares and Trinity one day!

    Best short story eva!
Rare is it that a book starts and finishes with the same intriguing flow that hooks me from the start. There is always the Stephen King approach, which I enjoy from time to time. Though it's a mood thing to be honest. This book however, is something that I wanted to read, was gifted to me and man did I love it! I was hooked and didn't stop reading until i was finished. I felt for the characters. Everything that the writer was trying to make you feel, he invoked in me. A perfect allusion of emotion and an ending that had me giddy with laughter. A short yet treat that I hope others will savor and enjoy as I have. Well done!
    It seemed like a teaser
The ending dropped off.... It seemed like a teaser...
    Good short story
Good short story. I love animals, especially foxes. Foxes are full of mischief yet very protective over family. Just like a sprite.
    Too short and too predictable.
Very disappointing. Didnt realize how short it was and how very predictable. It was like something a school kid could have written but with a bit more polish.
A nice escape from the mundane.
A nice little short story. A quick read but a story that is truly unique. Loved it wish it was a little bit longer. Well done Mr. Loring.

    Publisher's Summary:
Animal attraction is only half of the problem....
Olivia Felan has a wild side, all right. Even ignoring the fact that she turns furry and feral once a month, her natural style is take-no-prisoners, full-speed-ahead, come-what-may. But when it comes to her little girl, she doesn't take chances. So when a big bad werewolf alpha steals her daughter, Olivia will do whatever it takes to get her baby back. And in this case, that means killing Rory Sullivan.
The trouble is, killing him would mean wasting one sexy beast. Sully is all man, all cop, and as of late, half wolf. When he meets Olivia, Sully's a little glad he stuck his nose into his friends' business and came out with animal senses - until he gets a whiff of the chaos following her around. Now he has to decide whether he can't take his eyes off Olivia because she's too beautiful - or because she's too dangerous....
    Editorial Reviews:
A mother-daughter bond is universal - even for werewolves. When werewolf Olivia Felan's little girl is stolen by another werewolf, all hell breaks loose - and revenge must be had. The problem is, the man Felan is supposed to kill in order to get her daughter back is indecently attractive. Our narrator is Chelsea Hatfield, whose silvery voice perfectly matches the moonlit mystique of Taming the Moon.
Protagonist Felan is a sexy, dangerous heroine, and who listeners won't be able to resist. This audiobook touches some very erotic, animal instincts. For those who dare to turn it on: It's hard to turn off.

Soft core porn don't waste credit
The narrator was horrible. The story contains explicit sex scenes not necessary to plot. Didn't realize it was that kind of book. Fell asleep and hit the end didn't miss a thing figured the plot halfway through. First character thinks it then says it then narrator tells you... Horrible.

It only takes a little moonlight to bring out the primal desire between two lovers....
Declan O'Connell has a history with Pelicia Cobb, but not the kind that's going to help him win her back. It was bad enough that he broke her heart as a gruff ex-commando. Now he's got another side to his personality, a furry, fierce side that goes a little wild under the light of the moon....
Pel wants nothing more than the chance to clean up the mess Declan made of her life - without his interference. But with a sniper taking shots at her on her doorstep, there's no one better to protect her than Declan. And it's hard to ignore all of his deliciousness, especially the way her body responds to his undeniable magnetism. There's no question the rugged Irishman brings out the animal instinct in her - an instinct that propels her toward him, even when she knows she should run away....
    Editorial Reviews:
Werewolves, sex, murderSeducing the Moon is dramatic, a little creepy, and very romantic. Almost eight hours of indulgent fantasy, this audiobook is for those listeners who like their fantasy dark and a little morbid. The novel runs seven hours and 40 minutes of fast-paced and easy prose, prioritizes action and entertainment over literary depth. A fun escape from reality, with a fabulous narrator: Casey Holloway has increased the drama - if possible - with her nimble performance of the audio: She pauses at all the right moments, and adds delightful touches to each character's accent and pattern of speech.

Not too bad. Next book in series please!
Interesting. A vacation from my usual books.
Will read this author again. Has enough plot
to let me get through the sex scenes when they've
gone on a bit too long.
    werewolf heart be still NOT
Love the story of warrior/werewolf going after his lost love. This was a great easy read. The whole story is boy meets girl, boy becomes werewolf and shoves girl out of his life, then werewolf goes to get girl back.
    Perfect
I was so pleased with the quality, the book was in perfect shape not a mark on it. The cover looked as though it had never been open and the pages were in pristine condition. The book itself is a little larger and so is the print which is perfect for me. I do so much reading and my eyes get tired of looking at the little print all of the time. This is the second book in the series, it takes off just where the first one left off and they go perfectly together. The story line and romance are both smoking hot! Great read!
