VAMPIRE 'LITE'.... SATISFYING BUT SADLY LACKING

As I sit here looking at the blinking cursor I'm finding it very difficult to review this book, not because it was bad because it wasn't.... however, it's one of those listens that was just ok, nothing special, nothing memorable, only average and yet fairly enjoyable. It had it's good chapters, tense chapters and romantic chapters but it also had chapters that cried out for much needed descriptions and chapters that seemed to totally skim over facts and events. The main characters seemed very young and reminded me more of Bella and Edward rather than Sookie and Bill.

Handsome Ascher is a depressed Half Bloodling (half human half vampire) but when he gets a look at the new employee of his family's Bar he is instantly attracted to her. However, he tries to fight the pull but when he smells Shauna he starts drooling over her blood because she is the Trinity.... a vegetarian, a virgin and has never had alcohol..... an irresistible heady combination to tempt any vampire. Instant attraction which quickly morphed into desire, thirst and a sweet love which was eventually consummated. The trouble was Ascher's destiny had been foretold and he was about to be 'sealed' (kinda like married) to a vamp bitch from a Romanian Clan who he had been having cold and passionless sex with and when she finds out about Shauna she becomes a bitter, twisted, evil and very manipulative enemy..... eeewww nasty.

There's romance, action, suspense, a few surprises, a heartbreak and a full cast of secondary characters.... but for me, it somehow and sadly missed it's mark. I like my heroes to be Alpha men and not a baby-faced College student who has only had one sexual partner in his 87 years. Yes, he's thoughtful, kind, caring and oh so romantic but I like my men to be men and to have a bit of a 'bad boy' attitude too. Dual POV's, narration - well thankfully Ascher had an accent because I don't think I would've been able to distinguish between him and Shauna.

Worth a credit? If you're looking for Twilight rather than True Blood then I'm sure that this is your kinda listen (and yes I liked Twilight too) this book did end happily but the storyline will continue on.

Another great story by WJ May. This author has some new ideas I haven't seen before.

It's refreshing to read and still be surprised at the ending, so many books are predictable.

Pleasantly surprised :)

This is labeled as a Paranormal Romance and it is, but much different than what I expected.

I was pleasantly surprised at its light hearted take on curses and witchcraft. That many books like this take on. It was fresh, light and wonderfully written.

Henny is likeable and somehow relatable even though she is a witch. Nathan is a strong leading man. Comical relief is provided by a talking vegetable who one of the results of her curse.

The romance is the bedroom doors type. It was magical and sweet.

The whole book was under 90 pages. It was a quick uplifting morning break, before starting the grind of the day.

Nice quick read! I enjoyed it immensely as I won't tired enough to fall asleep. Spent maybe an hour reading this.

Love inept accident prone witchs

after waiting expectantly for months I was thrilled to find it was worth the wait.this while a short story has many wonderful points to make you keep turning the pages until the end

So-So

Neighborhood Witch is a short story about Nathan, who moves in next door to a witch when he relocates to a new town. Henny, the witch, is hated and shunned by the town, because they believe she is cursed and they might be injured if they got close to her. Nathan disregards this information and strikes up a close friendship with Henny. I enjoyed the book, but I felt it needed more to really get my attention. The story was a bit choppy, and there was almost no chemistry between Nathan and Henny, though it was the story of their romance. In addition, because she thinks she is cursed, Henny avoids everyone, so she really is not much different from the townsfolk who avoid her. In fact, Henny believes very strongly in the curse and its effect of causing injury, to the point that she also cannot possibly believe that the curse has been broken. I wondered about her character. She came across as too ready and accepting when shunned by the town. I got the impression she was someone who actually enjoyed being alone, with few or any friends. In addition, the author inserted a strange character into the story, in the form of a turnip, with lifelike qualities. I may be too conventional, but having a seeing and speaking turnip as a major character in the story was a bit much for me. Besides, this turnip really did not add anything to the story plot or Nathan and Hennyâs romance. If you like the paranormal and strange, this may be the book for you. I received this from Library Thing to read and review.

Great ending to a great book

Great ending to a great book. Wasn't sure how much I'd like it. She wrote it for her kids, and I loved it. I think the fact that she went out there and wrote something her kids asked her too,and made it this good really says allot for this author

This book was not quite as advertised.

What disappointed you about Desert Blueshift?

Dont get me wrong it was well written and well narrated. However, I found it under the Romance > Fantasy category and I think that is a bit off. I dont know if they have a Religious/ Spiritual category but if they do I think that is the place for this book.

What was most disappointing about Bob Cooley Jrs story?

I did not like how he made the military sound like the only thing they know how to do is blow stuff up and kill people. I guess I have more faith in our soldiers than that.

** Spoiler alert: this book is basically about many hurt and damage individuals finding enlightenment and self-love. So, if self-healing is the thing you are after, you would enjoy this book. Not sure if this is book for me.

Refreshing

Where does Trinity Stones rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

I found this book to be rather refreshing from the other fantasy/sci-fi books I've read with witches/vampires/werewolves etc. I was surprised by the lack of reviews and decided to take a chance anyway and I'm glad I did! The author does a good job of developing characters and creating the world in which they live. The beginning of each chapter starts with the place/date/time which is helpful as there are multiple perspectives.

Have you listened to any of Hollie Jacksons other performances before? How does this one compare?

I hadn't listened to any of Hollie Jackson's performances but I found her to be an enjoyable narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I found myself wanting to listen all the time! I wanted to see where the story developed.

Take a chance - there are definitely some religious overtones (not usually my thing) but it's a refreshing story in a sea of vampire/zombie/witch sci-fi novels! Fair warning though - the end gets a bit graphic - okay it gets really graphic - which I could have done without but don't let that deter you. The story is good and I will listen to the next one to see how the story continues to grow.

Wait. Did I miss something? Hold the phone, Ethel! Where did that come from?

I know, the heading is a little off putting, but whoa! What did I miss in the first book to throw me for this worldly crossed lovers story? Am I disappointed? Hardly. I LOVE IT! I'm in awe that Violet Haze was able to pull one over on me. I'll admit, it's going to have me rereading the entire series when it's complete to see if she dropped any clues anywhere along the way.

The story delves deeper in the lives (and past lives) of Tobias and Jocelyn. I seriously, read this book in one sitting on a Sunday afternoon. I could not put it down. I woke up thinking about this story and I had to finish it until I knew what was going to happen.

And now we wait. We wait for book 3.

This was just as good as the first, if not better. While the heat and chemistry- as well as the humor- is still there between Tobias and Jocelyn, we learn more of their story. More about her dad, a lot more from his family who are hands down, the most humble people. I'm so glad *spoiler alert* that Violet didn't leave this one on a hanging my pinkie cliff hanger. I'm not sure I could have survived the two weeks between books.

I Desire More!

Omg! "What He Desires (Luna #2)" is such an improvement on "For the Night". Not as much sex in this book as the first (kinda disappointed) but that is because it was more about Jocelyn's choice to marry him and the consequences that came from that decision. The few sex scenes, however, were very enticing, sexy, vivid, and well written. There were a few grammar issues, but nothing that can't be fixed easily or that would take the reader out of the scene.

This second book in the Luna series definitely shows the growth of Violet Haze as a writer. The writing style of "What she Desires" is so much more fluid than in the previous book, which makes this one seem shorter by comparison (it's a little longer actually). I love all of the constant twists she throws in her novels.

It was great that this book focused more on Jocelyn's emotions rather than just the sex--but two weeks...I felt her pain--which helped develop her character more. The dreams were a great way to show her fear and love without just spelling it out. Very creative.

Tobias's family is awesome. Very nice touch. Jocelyn's friends stepping in as her surrogate family was great too. I wish I knew more about why Jocelyn has never been in a relationship or never even wanted to sleep with a guy more than once, but I'm sure that'll be addressed in later books. Because of the dreams I thought that possibly she had a great love once and her father disapproved, which caused their falling out...but Jocelyn killed that theory lol.

Perfectly exaggerated melodrama flows like a waterfall with superb narration. A two tone melody of juxtaposed voices, HAMMERSMITH & SLOYER, emotional and penetrating. Much Better than a TV soap opera! Lots of unabashed modern fun.

This was the first audiobook I have listened to. I wasn't sure what it would be like, but I loved it.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the way Amanda Kay writes. She makes you feel like you are part of the story. Listening to someone narrate it helped me feel even more into the story.

Have you listened to any of Arden Hammersmith and Gabriel Sloyer s other performances before? How does this one compare?

As I said, this is the first one.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Callie Ann realized that Jenn was the one to replace her, I cried while in the car driving to work. I am sure the other people in the traffic jam wondered if I was crying over being late to work. (I was still 30 minutes early.)

Just finished this one... could not stop listening and stayed up reeeeaally late... oops! Such a good story, and so sweet! (a tearjerker tho) the voices broke my heart. esp cally's mom. Recommended!

Haunte by the read

Haunted by My Rock Chick defies classification (a conflation of genres - ghost story, love story, YA-ish, albeit not for a class read, and erotica all mixed up), and that's one of the elements that makes it interesting. The novella centers around a theme that authors continually try to unpack: loss and its aftermath.
