I love a good story about different sentient species interacting with ...

The premise in intriguing. I love a good story about different sentient species interacting with humans. But the characters failed to engage me. Both male and female characters are frustratingly one dimensional and uninteresting. The story's aim was high, but didn't hit the mark. Since this is prequel of a larger series the author might have depended too much on readers reading the first book to communicate important details. But that doesn't help new readers get their bearing in this universe.

3.5 Stars (rounded down because of confusing world-building and rushed romance)

Silent Warrior is the prequel to Lindsey Piper's new paranormal series. The novella centers on two Dragon King characters - Silence and Hark. Having no idea what Dragon Kings were or what this series was about, I decided to try this out because of the good ratings. Upon completion, I'm still hazy about the details of this world.

Silence, a collared Cage warrior for the Aster Cartel, vows to return honor to Clan Sath, who are referred to as "the Thiefs" by the other four Dragon King clans - Indranan ("the Heartless") Pendray ("the Reapers"), Tigony ("the Tricksters"), and Garnis ("the Lost") -- due to their covetous nature. A forseer's words hover in her mind. Hark is trying to earn money to repay his outstanding debts. The Kawashima Cartel wants their money! He's in deep poop! The action-packed beginning commences in a gladiator-style Cage match in Hong Kong. They skillfully cut, slash, and beat each other leading to an excess of energy they know how to dispel after the fight. Throw in some steamy sexy times and the Kawashimas and the game is on.

I rubbed my hands with glee thinking I had found a new dark paranormal romance I could dig my teeth into. While the beginning started with a bang, the details of this world were a combination of too much and too little. The terminology use lost me a few times. I also didn't know how the pieces fit and what I was supposed to be looking for. (What does it mean to belong to a cartel? What are Dragon Kings? What is the function of the cartel in this world? Why are the Dragon Kings nearly extinct? What are their powers? Are they immortal? What's their deal? Who, what, why, when, how, where, and so on. ) More questions arose as some were answered.

I'll attribute the lean story to this being a novella. If there had been a glossary explaining the Dragon King world and if the focus would have been on the protagonists building relationship - I think the novella would have been meatier.

An Extreme Delight!

Paranormal Fantasy lovers, beware! This book should definitely hit on your need to read list! I've read a few of the books offered up by this well crafted duo, but this has punched out the others in my favorite list. Welcome to the exciting world of elementals, and by exciting I mean HOT. This book starts off with an extreme chair-shifting scene that plunges you right into the action. I love it when a book starts off full throttle!

Not only are there some majorly hot sexual scenes in this book, the mythology and world-creating were phenomenal. Elementals are in a land all of their own, but these have the perfect combination of their element and a human. A blending of the species. So besides my beloved naughty demons, I think elementals have moved up on the hotness scale. Just think of what a water element could do.....

The story was unique and the scenes were well depicted. All of the ladies who have it bad for tortured heroses will have her needs fulfilled in Erion. The great thing about this story is it doesn't end with the Kenna coming into her element and discovering her true race. Oh no...this is just the beginning. This dynamic duo has opened up a realm chalked full of possiablities for other stories. I truly hope they continue on with this series. I anxiously await learning more about Fiera, Erion, and of course our mystery guest. Great Job!!

The authors do a wonderful job of pulling us into the novel

I am not a frequent reader of paranormal romantic erotica but I was drawn into this story quickly and found both the lore and the characters engaging. The authors do a wonderful job of pulling us into the novel... teasing us at first before we understand the true nature of the hero and heroine. The details and the imagery are at once vivid, mysterious, and enticing and I found myself waiting for the next plot twist or event that would catapult Kenna and company into the metaphysical world they are destined to occupy. It is unique to find a story both so poignant and erotic but Ms. Waters and Scott do a fine job of integrating both the romance and the fantasy... and as an added bonus I learned things about the artistry involved in glass blowing I had no knowledge of before. Bravo.

More than Fun

Katherine Grayson takes fantasy romance to a new level. These stories are fun, engaging, and full of, dare I say it, whimsy. Love the whole series.

Such good fun to read

I'm not normally much of a romance reader but I loved this one. Kristine Grayson has a way of keeping the story interesting also outside of the romance plot: there is action, very colourful characters, famous figures of mythology that get stuck in nowadays situation, enough paranormal and magic to keep a sense of wonder, and most of all a lot of humour.

Now I just have to wait for the sequel that will be published soon, the Interim Fates series, were I'm sure the deliciously annoying characters will struggle in the real world, allowing the reader many more witty lines!

I also must say that even though this book is the third in the Fates series it stands very well alone.

I laughed and laughed....

I'm so glad Ms. Grayson is continuing this series! I had no idea until I spotted this one on the shelf at the bookstore (yoo-hoo publisher - more marketing!!!!). This one is so funny! The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is parts of it are a little confusing and vague but overall I really recommend this book! I'm not going to ruin it my giving a looonnnngggg outline of the plot but suffice it to say Robin Hood is back and if you've read any of her other books let your imagination take you from there!

Seriously funny

This whole series of books is a treat. It only takes my sister and me a day to read because of the humor and situations.

Interesting to say the least

This story is a little darker than I normally read, but it was interesting to say the least. This series was pretty well written and didn't send my OCD self into fits with grammar mistakes or typos (it happens more often then not). My only gripe is: it seems that the author was building up all this suspense for something that was predictable. Maybe it was just predictable to me because I read more than I watch tv, but it was almost a bit of a let down.

I don't like giving reviews for many reasons, and I am still hesitant but felt this book deserved one. Would I re-read this series? More than likely not. Did I think the author wrote a solid book? Yes, she's onto something interesting. Will I read the next book? Of course! There is nothing I hate more than cliff hangers!

I am glad that I stumbled across this book. While it is something I would normally steer clear of, but I am glad I read it anyway.

Ok I am a big wuss when it comes to stories that are from a different realm of humanity. Lol

So when I came across the Shadow Series . I down loaded it but I also hesitated because like I said I am a big wuss.... But in the Ned I gave it a chance and hell I read book 1 and book 2 in two days. Totally loved the story the way it developed i did not get lost or scared. And because I was sitting on the books for a while by the time I was doe with the 2 books the 3 was just released that same day.

Great job kolee. Great mind. But how can u sleep with so much in your brain. Your amazing. Loved your work looking forward to more.

Chasing Shadows

This is the Second (well technically third as this is book two in a series) by this author. She also wrote Love Left Behind....which was amazing! I do not normally read paranormal books for the most part and I was a little skeptical when reading the blurb, but because I enjoyed her first book so much, I took the chance and let me tell you, I'm so glad that I did. I can't wait for book three. I find myself rooting for bad guy (you'll see why)

Excellent Series

I love the series and looking forward to the third installment, in which I plan to write a detailed review then. All I can say is there were many parts that caught me off guard and kept me enthralled.

couldn't put it down

I have read the first 2 books in this series and I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Brazen Amazon. I was not diappointed!! I enjoyed being able to go on Gina's adventure with her as she learned how to open her heart up to the man she loves. As always, Sandy James had me laughing aloud and sitting on the edge of my seat. I could hardly put the book down til I was done! I can't wait for Sarita's story to come out in a few months!

Another Great Tale!

Another great tale in this series of books, which keeps the reader spellbound and intrigued until the end. Just love how the author has written a book with each Amazon as the main character yet joins each of their personalities into the storyline.

Typical navy seal story

The heroine and hero hate each other. Yawn. The hero and heroine respect each other. Yawn. They fall in love. Yawn. They never get injured or badly hurt while everyone else around them dies. Yawn. He's a double indian. The diversity card is played. Yawn. Leaving out her gills you have a stereotype story. The hero is an obnoxious jerk whom I kept hoping would get taken down a peg or two. He remains obnoxious to the end.

A really good read

I really enjoyed this story. I really liked that rather than having the mermaid be a mythological magical creature in a paranormal world, she is a regular person with a few developmental differences. The story was very suspenseful with a ton of action. I enjoyed the main characters and their personalities too. All in all, a really good read.

Characters come alive in this fast paced story full of gut wrenching action, sex and romance . Linda Mooney demonstrates yet again just how diverse her stories are with an unlimited imagination. A sequel would be wonderful as the story seemed to end too soon.

Great from beginning to not quite yet the ending!

I've purchased the first 3 audio books in the series, and Wolves and Black Roses is my favorite - mostly because of the couple choice, Summer and Anton. They are a one big fire ball of female-male attraction at it's ripest, without the gore details. Summer is promised by her family to marry Anton's brother (I hope I can say this??) whom she has never even met. Anton is sent from the Outerlands to collect Summer and bring her home to marry his brother, but Summer has always been in love with Anton who is every woman's dream - the hunky, masculine, and towering powerful male who has the style, grace and power of a surreal wolf-man. Summer does her best to "tempt' Anton into being with her, and falling in love with her, but Anton tries his best to avoid her efforts at all costs. Summer is gorgeous, with long brown shiny flowing hair and the perfect assets and voice to match. Anton's long flowing blonde hair and emotional and sexual battle with Summer lends itself to a delicious, erotic overload (if your imagination in imagery is as vivid as mine!!) They both are strong willed and determined in their efforts to attract and detach themselves from the push and pull we call the intense 'mating game'.

All the while, Summer has two sisters who are equally beautiful, but in very different ways. Sarah is the firey red head with green eyes, and is a witch who can talk with the dead, and Nicole is more like you and I, street smart and sassy, and Kathrina is the youngest sister, the gothic hottie who is just learning of her own secret powers. It is these sisters destiny to come together and fight some bad vamps, focusing on the ancient vamps who want to start a war between the wolves and the vampires. There is something much more sinister going on in the story as it teases you along and beacons your intelligence to come forth and find out what it is (which I am certain will be found out in the final book).

Many secondary subjects are introduced. Summer can see dead people and changes into something quite unexpected to fend off her captor, which only "thrills" him at her transformation even more and makes him lust to own her in every imaginable way possible at any cost.

Black Roses has a great significance, and how they are threaded through the story is very interesting and romantic in the dark sense.

Room for improvement

Over all it was an ok lesion with the exception being Nyx is one of the most annoying characters I've seen in a while. For the most part he was decent except he makes some out ragingly bad decisions especially for being how old he's suppose to be. I don't wont to give out any thing but Nyx would have been a whole lot more believable if some one who's over 200 would have a shred of common sense. I might pick up next book in hopes things get better.

Very Good

I very much enjoyed this novel. It is different than what I usually read and really wish there was a prequel, not to mention a sequel. I read this book several times and was happy when the audio book came out. This is like a beauty and the beast, only the beast is always nice and so kind.

Not a good read

The narrator is good, but the story is not for my liking, the main characters do not suit together, a very coarse story. Skip this one.
