High School Class Reading

I believe this is a standalone book.

There is a lot going on in this story. Time-travel, murder, ghosts, embezzlement, outlaws, twin-like appearances, etc... If you're looking for a story that will make you think, this is definitely for you!

This is for the audiobook - I wasn't a huge fan of the narration. It seemed like a reading in high school - no emotion or inflections. If you enjoy that type of narration, however, it would be perfect for you!

Oh Good Heavens!!!!! This romance blends sexy cowboys, time travel, possessing spirits, ghosts, outlaws, embezzlers, and more dastardly villains than I could count into a Holy Smokes!!!!, Did-that-really-happen? adventure!

Lisa Welch is an extraordinary damsel-in-distress who commutes from present day to the old west through-out the tale. The transport through time was not intentional at first. My heart went out to her as I could certainly relate to the confusion and helplessness she felt. As the story progressed, she faced multiple unresolved conflicts in both time periods that seemed to proliferate with a life of their own and each chapter seemed to end in a cliffhanger as Lisa was menaced by assorted totally despicable villains. Each situation seemed certain to result in Lisa's immediate death, imprisonment, kidnapping, mauled by wild animals, and more.

Our hero, Jack Stanton, was a yummy, honest, very kissable cowboy who was also understandably quite bewildered at first by Lisa.

Good read - a little predictable though

when i first started reading the series, i was always looking forward to the next installment, but now, it is starting to get a bit......predictable i guess. one gets the feeling there is ALWAYS going to be a next installment!

Despite being a fan of sagas etc, i realise this series might be over for me, especially when i strated getting confused about characters' names and how they are relevant to the current tale - way too many characters!

K.B.Stanford's voice is another issue - quite annoying to be honest - but it's saying something when i tell you it's not the worst i've come across on audible - to put it bluntly, it's bad, but not so bad you need to talk yourself into having the courage to continue with the book.

All in all, still a good read.

I gave up

So I found this in my library, apparently I bought it in 2013. I only listened to 2 out of the 4 hours. It jumped around and made very little sense to me. There seemed to be an entire world that was in need of a backstory and this just started in the middle somehow. I have checked for earlier books but couldn't find any. I was just confused.

A Quick But Satisfying Paranormal read

Banshee's Tattoo by Michelle Fox is a short story paranormal romance. In this story we are introduced to Lorena and a man who goes by the nickname Irish. Irish has been on the run all his life from a Banshee that hunts the men in his family because of a cursed ancestor. When he and Lorena meet it is in a tattoo shop but they cross paths again after she leaves a club. Will Lorena be able to help him or will she be his final good bye?

This is the first book that I have read by Michelle Fox and I really enjoyed reading it. The story is fast paced and quick to bring in the banshee element in a good way that is subtle but let's you know that this is what it is.

The story is very short but it's well written regardless. There are few to no errors to detract from the enjoyability of story. The characters are well done and the story is written in first person.

I really enjoyed this story and will be checking out more works in the very near future. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. Well done and very enjoyable.

Irish heat!

Two strangers connect while getting tattoos. I really enjoyed this quick supernatural fix! The characters connected, instant heat, and both unite to overcome a threat to their well being. Simple, fast, and highly entertaining. For a super quick fix, this was very satisfying!

This would have been a great series.

I would have loved this story if it had been a full length novel! From the way Irish and Lorena meet to the very end is filled with mystery and suspense. It's like a mystical explosion. The intensity is off the charts. Unfortunately it is only about 20 pages long.

I only found 1 typo at the very beginning.

Quick but Good

This was a very short book, but it was free on Amazon and it is a really good introduction to the author's writing if you have not read her before. For a short read there was a lot happening. It was almost like fate stepping in and saying, nope, this has got to stop. And fate provided a pretty cool heroine to provide some kick butt. This was an enjoyable read.

"Hollaback Girl" or Something Like That!

OK, I was in the mood for something quick and Irish...and maybe a little supernatural. This quick short story fit the bill quite nicely. It was a hot sexy tale about a hot sexy Irishman that had a little problem heretofore handled by "magic" tattoos and getting the "hey" out of the way. Well during a wailing hurricane and other wailing things he meets a cute Latina princess who has a different solution to all his problems.

This book was sooo good. I loved Brady and Gemma and Mike. What a threesome of good guys/girl. Liked the cops Abernathy and Olsen. Falco was funny, bet he never did THAT again. Loved the suspense, drama and murder mystery. Loved the romance and sex, too (it woudn't have been nearly as good without the romance and sex.) Over all a wonderful read.

As to the narrator? She could have tried a little harder to make the men sound a little more manly but at least they didn't sound like women. Could have been better but was still OK.

More mystery than romance but still good

NYSI is more mystery than romance and I prefer more of the latter. But still, I liked the story and enjoyed it and the narration. Kate Udall's narration may be an acquired taste as she's very subdued. Unlike other reviewers, I liked it, particularly because it fit the mood of the book.

Gemma and Brady's story is a typical alpha male hero/heroine in distress story. For the most part, there is little of the cliched misunderstandings that romance writers use - there is one instance of it and it plays a key role in the plot. However, it's believable and not too long lived. There is plenty of depth to the characters, except for Ned (Gemma's on-the-way-to-being-ex-husband), who is written as a total sleaze with zero redeeming qualities. He is rarely explained (e.g., why does he undermine her, make her think they are broke (this is not a big part of the plot, just background, so I'm not spoiling anything), etc.) Gemma, Brady (h/H), Gemma's brother Mike, and Doug Wheeler, are drawn well.

There is a bit of Irish mysticism in the story, with Mike & Gemma (brother/sister) sharing a unique link and with Brady also having a bit of fey to him. This adds to the story, IMO, but may be a bit woo-woo for some.

DO NOT BUY! It is not a new Stephanie Meyer book, it is The Host in German. This is very misleading and disappointing. I don't see that anywhere in the description...and the reviews are in English...again, very misleading...not happy!!

Unable to read because it is in German, I believe this book is the translation of Host, which I absoulely loved, more so than the Twilight Saga. Way to go Stephanie!

Enjoyable however there's a big BUT.......

I would have liked to have given this four or even five stars as it may have deserved them but it is obviously the third or fourth Book in a series so the basic history and aims of The Sentinels have been lost. The plot refers to past characters and events and it gives criptic words to things that I didn't understand the meaning of but would have done so If I had heard the previous books so, unfortunately, it loses it's full potential as half of the book was foreign to me.

Worth of credit? Well, whilst this is an enjoyable paranormal Romance and it has possibilities, it is nearly impossible to follow well, and is not a good stand alone book, so I would suggest waiting until the previous books are released before purchasing this one so it would have to be a No, definitely not yet.

Good storyline. Hard to follow.

Storyline not bad. Would like to know how the deer and tiger end up. Just not sure about all the other stuff. Got a bit lost in some of the new descriptive words for the two warring factions. Not sure who would be a good target audience.

Not sure. Narrator wasn't bad, but sometimes you couldn't tell if the characters were talking or just thinking. Book jumped around too much for my taste.

Great Book....

What did you love best about Covet?

The story line was great, and the voice of the book was nice and clear to understand.

Overall the story line was great. Well spoken. For a first time I found it hard to not go off day dreaming though.

I honestly didn't like his voice playing the female or child rolls. Kinda put me off.

Covet: A Novel of the Fallen Angels, Book 1

A good read, with a nice twist in the plot. Heron is an unusal candidate for the role here, his dark side lingering in the background. The only problem I had with this book was some of various plots were a bit long winded, although got there in the end. The scene was set with some familiar characters as well as some new and interesting ones in the mix. I am looking forward to book 2 being available on Audible.

Nice read. Audible is a treasure for people such as me with dyslexia issues.

If you read the "Blackdagger Brotherhood" series you will enjoy this. If you have not read that series, its a good read too. Not yet on Audible though.

cannot even finish this

usually into the urban fantasy genre, but this production just gets it wrong. slut vs madonna (both of whom are ubersexy of course), with a main character who tries so hard to be the complex loner tough guy but still comes across as a flat cardboard-cutout trope. And the reader - sorry, mate - is incapable of accents. These are so awful that it pained me to listen. If you like stereotypes galore (the angels were actually quite offensive), aren't big on plot or narrator performance, then go for it, but don't say I didn't warn you.

Great book!!!

Great book let down by the guy reading it. Voice was quite monotone made a lot of the male characters sound camp.
