Romulus and Rogue are powerful lion shifters who get sent in when other shifters break the age-old rules established by the Oracle. A few hundred years as partners have had the men searching for a mate from time to time. Only two women in those years earned their attention, but the danger that comes with being their mate was a thing they couldn't take and left the shifters before consummating the mating rituals.

Cassie is a good Samaritan who loves animals, both wild and tame. She heads into a Louisiana forest near New Orleans to release a mother bobcat and her cub she rehabilitated after a car broke the mother's legs. Unfortunately, night falls before she gets back out of the forest, and she left her flashlight in her SUV.

Accidentally losing her way out of the dark forest, she ends up right in the middle of a vampire and werewolf fight. One sneeze has them on her and arguing over which group of monsters gets to kill her. Romulus and Rogue enter the forest to take care of the vampire and werewolf problem, only to find they have a mortal, young woman captured.

The lion shifters take the curvy woman with them and quickly find her to their liking. An offer of eternal life and a special power that resides inside her is promised, but she has to agree to be their mate for life. That comes along with a huge risk, which will threaten the trio's lives.

Too short

The story although had great concepts felt rushed. The bonus book is just a few mini chapters you must sign up for the news letter to get the entire book

Fun short read

Too short would have liked a longer story line to read. Mabey some background to the lions and other characters.

This is a Rip Off. Not a book. Just 35 Pages.

Nice little trick. This short story is only 35 Pages long. Hardly a book. Buyer Beware!!

Five Stars

great book with a lot stories within

Four Stars

I enjoyed the theme & plot line.

shifters & paranormals (anglo) fight over family

There is slight diversity, there is a Asian female human in the pack. And a undead boyfriend that is ??Hawaiin?? maybe. The truth comes out and the lead female anglo character must choose between her evil father or her pack.. worth a credit/money... flip a coin

Language: English

Release date: 02-19-16

Publisher: Audible Studios

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 5 votes

Genres: Romance, Fantasy

Publisher's Summary:

Once, Tane du Breuil fought side by side with his immortal Templar brothers. But after he betrayed the Order, he retreated to the solitude of the homeless shelter he created. He must now prove himself as worthy to both his brethren and the archangels. Yet when his seraph walks into the Temple, he's tempted with a fate he knows he doesn't deserve.

After a brush with death, ancient-weapons specialist Hayden Thofte arrives at the hidden Templar stronghold, aware of her status as a seraph and her noble purpose. She expects to meet her intended mate and lend her sword to fight against Azazel's unholy ascension. But nothing has prepared her for the knight she encounters or the white-hot passion that flares between them.

As they fall deeper into unquenchable desire, pleasure gives way to a darker struggle. Tane's haunted by a prophecy that he will destroy the Templar. Embracing the temptation of Hayden will only guarantee that destruction, but in denying his immortal fate, he will once again betray his brethren. He's torn between saving his dying soul and denouncing the woman he cannot live without. To find salvation, he must embark on a quest against demons he can see...and those he can't. If he fails, he will damn far more than the Order. Hayden will spend eternity as Azazel's slave.

This is a Fantastic Series and am glad it continues. TRY IT PLEASE!

First of all I would like to say that I do not understand why this book has not been reviewed by anyone . This book is the fifth in a series that incorporates an interesting take on what happened to the Knights Templar, and combines it with archangels, demons and a long struggle with their ultimate enemy Azazel.

Here is a quick synopsis of the series. The knights were cursed after they dug for and found holy relics under the Temple Mount in the holy land. They were cursed because they were specifically forbidden to do so, and defied holy orders. They were cursed to be immortal and to spend immortality fighting to protect the relics from Azazel and his minions. If Azazel successfully obtained the 8 relics it would change the balance between good and evil. As part of the curse every time a knight killed a demon it would destroy part of their soul. Eventually the Knights souls would become completely evil and if a fellow knight didn't behead them they would become a black knight for Azazel.

A prophecy was found that told of the knights having a chance of saving their souls if they were able to find their fated seraph and say vows. These vows would bring light back to the knight's soul so he could continue to fight without fear of turning evil, it also gave the seraph immortality. Each seraph had an unique gift such as healing etc.

Each of the five books out so far deal with a specific knight and finding and keeping his seraph, continuing the fight against evil, and losing the relics. The word building is fantastic, the characters have depth, and as many of the characters are mentioned in one degree or another in each book the reader comes to know them well. The story is paced well and keeps the reader engrossed and invested in both the characters and the outcome.

My only complaint is the time between books, it has been two years since the last book.

Harley - Awakening

love that it was not a traditional vampire / werewolf story. adding fairies to the mix mad e it such a treat. Awesome job claudy, simply awesome!

So awesome!!

This book ended way too soon for me! I was not ready to let go, but good news is there is a book 2. This is the first book in the awakening series, and already it is so promising. Stevie Zimmerman did a great job portraying all the well developed characters. Get this and get book two while you're at it, you won't be disappointed. Well, maybe that they too will end eventually, but nothing can be done about that, except drool over all the books to come. Claudy Conn is such a talented writer. I just want to be a fly on the wall in her office. :)

Great Story!

I dont usually read many books from this genre, but I really enjoyed this one. The narration brought the story to life and held my interest throughout. The story was well thought out, complete and will keep you listening. I will be watching for this author in the future.

* I was provided a free copy of this book from AudioBookBlast for an honest review.

Meh

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A few things, I had some slight issues with the narrators pronunciations The narrator not using the work ax "She axed a question" no, she didn't ax a question...she asked it, there is a difference. The narrators voice was nice to listen to overall, it was just the pronunciation issue.

I also had a major issue with the "hero" of the book offering his 17 year old nephew pot and alcohol. Yes, it might seem minor to some or even weird that it ticked me off but it did....if my brother or sister offered that to my kids we'd have more than just a few words between us. Drug use of any sort has negative impacts, especially on a developing brain...a 17 year old brain is not fully developed. Okay, off my soap box

Also how the heroine, Mercedes, still melts when she thinks about Lennon, even though she suspects him of killing her best friend? Doesn't make sense to me

What could Calinda B and Woodland Creek have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Cut the drug references. Made Mercedes a little stronger, does she have to cream her panties every time she thinks of Lennon Lusk, even when she thinks he brutally murdered her best friend?

What didnt you like about Dana La Vozs performance?

She had some really basic narration errors. I did like her voice overall, it was very smooth and silky. I would give her another chance as a narrator

Any additional comments?

*I received this book in exchange for a fair and unbiased review through audioblast.com*

I really wanted to like this book, it had an interesting concept on shape shifters and the magic world.

Enjoyable

This story about sirens and other fantasy creatures was enchanting. I like the idea of a vacation getaway spot for those that are other than human. The narration was wonderful to listen to. I would always recommend a story narrated by Piper!

Keep Coming Back for More

Currently reading this book and am excited enough that I keep picking it up every night for more. While I can clearly see the plot forming the main character (Rae) has a harder time putting 2 & 2 together. I find myself mentally yelling at her. I love all Egyptian, paranormal, and magically based traditional stories (LOTR, NARNIA, Harry Potter) and not necessarily romance based this one has been exciting enough to order book 2 from the Forgotten Tarot series.
