House of Shadows gives you a new appreciation for time

The idea of time travel is a paradox. Something that is logically contradictory by definition. As seen in novels, and movies and television programs the one unchangeable thing about time travel is changeâ one thing, one person, one event that is altered by a time traveler will change the future or the present perhaps because of those future changes. You see? A paradox. Illogical on one hand â completely logical on the other.

This is proven in the fascinating story of House of Shadows. In the 1880s, Penrose Heatherton was desperate and destitute. She, in effect, stole a womanâs job opportunity. She is the woman who will arrive at Arundell Manor and take the assistant position of Carrick Arundell. A man who many people fear because of his differences, he is not a mad man, he is not crazy, he is in fact a brilliant inventor of mechanical men. Penny, as she prefers to be called will begin to fall in love with Carrick, and his unique son C.J. â their lives together are merely beginning when an earthquake hits their home and Penny makes a split second decision to save C.J.âs life

House of Shadows is full of twists and turns and loops in time. I donât see how I can say much more than the very basics of the Cover Description and not give away huge plot lines or spoilers. So Iâll simply say thisâ this is a story that will hold you captive as you experience the disbelief on both Penrose and Keatâs part â what is happening to them is totally illogical, makes no sense but is a reality they must deal with. I believe this is a story that will fascinate you â and you will not see the ending coming.

If you are a lover of time-travel in any form, this is a story that you will enjoy. Itâs been a few hours since I finished it and even now Iâm still shaking my head at the twists involved in this story.

Saving the Future

I was asked to give a honest review to write an Arc fit this book from the author:

This book was a magical and such an exciting Science fiction mixed with a hint of the truest most beautiful romantic story.I loved this story as it brought two beings together with most affection and love. Such a beauty. I didn't want it to end.

When we meet Kimi Wilson who's mission was to return to a ever troubled polluted Earth to see if the human race could return to it once again. She met a fierce looking Mongarian group who kidnapped her. Until she is taken by Khan-Min, a doctor who is saving his people from the Khan-Min Plant Syndrome that everyone is suffering from.

Such a beautiful story of the two people coming together and helping each other. I loved this book so much. Such a wonderful romance for everyone to enjoy.

I would recommend this to any of my friends also!!

I Couldn't Finish It

Okay, so I debated between one and two stars. This is one of the worst stories I've read in a long time. In fact, I couldn't finish it. I WANT to like it. The idea is good in theory, but I think this is in desperate need of an editor. A few words are stuck together that shouldn't be (like "theywent"), a couple places have extra spaces---- not a big deal in comparison to the issues with the writing itself.

Now, the writing---- most romances have a few "cringe-worthy" moments that you kind of roll your eyes at and keep going. This one had like 15-20 of those in the first ten pages. One section that stands out to me is when she's stretching or something by the water... it was so weird. I wish I had some quotes I could pull up right now, but I think it's just bad writing. This feels like a first draft.

And for the plot- SPOILERS AHEAD

For example, she's concerned she's going to be raped by one of the aliens, then turns around to check one of them out. She decides to go for a stroll after being attacked by an alien species and having her ship wrecked. Some things just didn't make sense.

I'm not saying this couldn't be a good story, if it was rewritten.

Hobbit-like in fantasy and scope

Myth and fantasy stories at bedtime have their place in culture as a means to educate our children on our shared beliefs and values. How else are children to grow strong, straight and look after their parents in old-age? Katrina Joyner is a prolific author and native American who weaves carefully plotted yarns with believable heroes, heroines and crude-dude bad guys. Only The Innocent is her latest well-crafted tale, a fast read that keeps the boogy-man locked in the closet after he tries to sneak under the bed.

As other reviewers will tell you, this is a fantasy tale of how to hunt for a unicorn in a dark forest on order from the king. Alas, the rules of unicorn hunting are strict, fraught with faeries and their weirding ways, true to the scent of innocence. It's a perfect tale for pre-teen girls, no matter how old you are, or to rekindle the innocence that remains a hallmark of our human spirit. Only... is also a trigger for a conversation between mothers and daughters when dad is best left out of earshot.

One historical note: the Celts and the Etruscans were much inclined to give women equal footing and equal rights, while the Greeks and Romans were famous for locking their women inside, lest they inflame an ardent and uncontrolled young man. The personal evolution from beastly nature to bliss-inducing love can take nourishment from this tale. No matter which side of history you fall upon, please trust Katrina Joyner's fun little read to instruct you on your next unicorn hunt. Personally I prefer to keep my unicorns fawning at the edge of the forest while I picnic in the glade. Four stars.

Short - but a pleasure to read.

The fact that this book isn't very long is actually one of it's joys - I was able to read the whole thing in one session, lying in front of a blazing fire on a cold day with a glass of wine. And it was a real pleasure.

It's not a genre that I usually read, but maybe I've been missing something. Katrina Joyner manages to make the character of Bette very credible, and you can practically feel her innocence, which makes what is to come both terrifying and captivating. It's certainly a book I would recommend.

The Ghost needs to quit smoking

The overall story had potential but unfortunately the narrator was reading the story like he would an Elementary class (minus)the bad language.He just had a very,old,craggy voice not meant for a young hero.You expect to fall in love with the his voice along with everything else,but the voice was really hard to get through.The story was over all interesting,a bit far fetched but that's why this is "fiction"...no rules,just your imagination.I think the story would've been better read than listened too.

there is a lot of history mentioned here and a few gruesome scenes. the civil war wasn't pretty and neither is the way this ghost died. there is a lot of betrayal, death, secrets, and a big fat curse woven through two time periods making this an interesting story. there are a few naughty thoughts but no explicit adult content.

Vikings brother are back

This was probably my favorite Viking brother yet. The is fill sensuality, desires. This Viking is cursed to live out his life as an island. That's was his punishment from the witch when he and 3 other Viking brother tried to pillage and rad the witches island. The narrator do a good job as always. Beware of Answered Prayers

This book was kind of a light weight and usually predictable, I could see potential had the author spent maybe a little move time with it. Had it been developed (fully), it might even have been a source for a good movie. However, not only can you not judge a book by its cover, you cannot judge it by it's title - and I did. Even after reading the "blurb" I still was expecting more, which I did not get. I would very much like to see this story reworked into a well-written full length book which challenged the reader instead of so easily allowing the plot to "show through". I still recommend this as good reading.

Hollie Jackson narrated a lovely short as a young undercover witch/ cop chases a vampire serial killer.

The story starts with our young witch cop who was relentlessly bitten a werewolf and give what she thinks is a cure pill to take every day, only on the day she gets dressed up in fetish wear as a witch, which she is, and take her friend to a vampire club to meet her friends boyfriend, turned upside down. First she almost killed by a serial killer her unit has been after, worse so was her friend. She is saved by the vampire blood of the club owner, who she now can't get out of head, full of erotic dreams about him as she is off on medical leave healing. And that is just the beginning of the story. Lots of action, erotic thoughts and actions, mystery as both the police and the Vampire club owner try to find the evil vampire serial killer. Very very short story. Period piece Victorian time. Young anglo female who's parents were involved with a scandel. The girl tries to do good works by reading to the sick & afflicted. It is nice to see other cultures and their myths on shape shifters. There are so many cultures with shape shifter stories and it is a shame that most writers only use the âAmericanâ style of shifter.

This is a very quick read, which makes it great for trips, waiting for appointments, or reading at the park while the kids play. While this was a short story, Ms. Myers was able to bring her characters to life.

I found no spelling or grammar errors which always slow down my reading and thus my enjoyment. The book was descriptive which helped make the charactersâ more real for me. Formatting was excellent; I used a Kindle to read the story.

I would love to see Ms. Myers flesh out this story and make it into a full length novel. The location, a dying people and their way of living, and the Selvagens Verdes make for a great story. I look forward to reading more by Ms. Myers in the future.

Predictable and not very interesting. Lack of originality.

This was the last story out of twenty-seven in the book I was gifted. Did not care for the spacing at all. Seems like every page was double or triple spaced with no chance of condensing it.

I was pretty beat up when I got to this one. I mean there is just so much sexual abuse one can take from aliens, animals and androids.

The title was a little misleading since it expressed "Taming the Jaguar" and a listing of short stories. This was the main theme throughout the book and had me going from one story to the next. Most was well written for short stories, while others needed a bit more in the development. However, most were hot enough to burn the circuits of my reader. Very entertaining time spent from one venue to another. Wow!

The Keeper Saga

I chose a five star rating as the people become real, they demonstrate noble character traits, a depth of which I would hope for my children and grandchildren. A romance adventure that spans years of American history of every day life and customs of the day. In spending my time reading these three books I was able to be present with Chase, Ellie, Garrick and Davy through their travels, the hardship each suffered. I look for word to the next in the series as I believe it wood not be finished if Lagard, remained loose or the Master Keeper with no recovery. I would hope that enough time would past that Chase and Ellie would be married. I would enjoy a next generation of Keepers children of Case & Ellie, Davy & Sylvia continue the adventures.

MY HEAD EXPLODED!

I didn't review the first two books because I was busy reading The Keerpr's Calling and The Keeper's Quest. This series takes you hostage and won't let you go. The characters are likeable (except the bad guys of course) they jump off the page and take you on an adventure you won't forget. I read all 3 in 10 days and that's why my head exploded. Now I can't find my glasses. I'm waiting for Keeper's

Anxious for the final book!

I have spent the last few days reading straight through the trilogy. I can now put the books down and get something else done in my life. I will be watching closely for the final book to come out. it should be exciting.....so many questions to have answered still.

I thoroughly enjoyed all three books. Looking forward to reading book 4. Excellent read. Gave it to my mother to read. Unfortunately she passed before being able to r was all of them. I finished them for her. She loved to read.

This was an amazing book! I love the time travel and the love story. I couldn't put the book down and I am so glad that you have a wonderful mother to persuade you to write the next book! I love hearing about Chase and Ellie and think about their world often.
