Only 7 announcers have done the play by play for both the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox. Len Kasper joined that list making a stunning move from the Cubs TV booth to the Sox radio booth for 2021. Kasper said turning 50 was the time to try something new.

He explains why the move after 16 years on the north side of town and it has to do with his childhood idle, Hall of Fame broadcaster Ernie Harwell whom Kasper grew up listening to in his home town of MT Pleasant Michigan.

Kasper weaves stories about a career that has taken him from Milwaukee (where he worked with another hall of farmer Bob Uecker), to Miami (where he did TV while the radio voice Jon Sciambi just replaced him with the Cubs) and then Chicago. But Kasper also delights in talking about another passion, music and his new band, Sonic 45!

Bob Costas does not need an introduction.

For the last 40 plus years this iconic broadcaster has been involved in some of the most important, crucial and memorable sporting events of our lifetime. From hosting myriad Olympic games, Super Bowls, NBA championships and World Series, Costas has been the iconic voice and image of American sport.

Costas currently calls Major League Baseball for the MLB Network along with countless appearances on forums, talk shows, podcasts, etc.

But his ties to Chicago are legendary. He hosted his first Super Bowl on January 26th, 1986 which happened to be the Bears only victory in the big game. He also telecast 19 Bulls games in the ’79-’80 season right before being hired by NBC.

He was behind the mic for the famous “Sandberg” game and of course was the host of 5 Bulls NBA title runs and did the play by play of the 6th, the now famous “Last Dance.”

It’s with great pleasure that we present Bob Costas on “Tell me a story I don’t know” and some of his stories are as legendary as the man, himself.

On the second edition of the show, Edie Olczyk, the highly respected and immensely popular analyst on Chicago Blackhawks and NBC telecasts of the National Hockey League, joins us.

A native of Chicago, Olczyk was drafted by the “Hawks” with the third overall pick in the the 1984 draft. His career spanned 16 seasons and 6 teams and also included a stint as head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

But Olczyk regained fame in his home town when he returned as an analyst in 2004. His honesty, charm and great sense of humor struck a cord with local and national fans and his courageous and public battle with stage 3 colon cancer in 2017 gained him worldwide well wishes.

An avid horse player, Olczyk parlayed that into a role with NBC’s coverage of major races including the Kentucky Derby.

It’s evident in this podcast Olczyk’s ability to tell all sorts of stories in a way few can from his hilarious account of being traded while his wife was giving birth to his battle with cancer to a surreal wager that earned him a half a million dollars.

Affectionately known as “Edzo”, it’s clear Eddie Olczyk has a gift for gab as you will hear in this episode of “Tell me a story I don’t know.
