January 17, 2022 45. Feeling Alone? What I learned about group rituals from a Kava Ceremony in Fiji and a Kosher Restaurant in Miami
In This Episode:
We've all been there: feeling alone and out of touch with something larger than ourselves.
What can we do?
Via two experiences I had in the Yasawa Islands and Miami Beach I've come to realize that group rituals in our daily lives is what brings about a feeling of being seen, and held in a broader force than ourselves.
Who says rituals and ceremonies need to be reserved for weddings and funerals?
I propose we bring these moments of reverence into our day to day in order to feel more unified, fulfilled and loved.
We can do this via established ceremonies, small moments of gratitude before a meal or even working out together in the park.

1. What are my key complaints? Write/Say/Draw them somewhere.
2. What do I want instead? Flip the complaint on its head.

In This Episode:
We examine the ways willingness can come in and change our lives for the better.
The idea that we must be confident or build confidence when we start something new, or continue in a chosen arena is misleading. There is more to moving forward than confidence. What helps most is often being open to and willing to take the next step that presents itself to us. This can mean saying no to an opportunity that isn't aligned with our vision, or saying yes to what we are open to. Venturing down new ways of thinking and doing can seem daunting. If we open ourselves up and become willing to take one step, we begin on a path however narrow the opening might be. It all takes just one step at a time.

Kalyna discusses how Dr. Richard Schwarz's work with Internal Family Systems has aided in the recognition of the different parts of ourselves and how that can support our inner resiliency in challenging situations.
We look at how IFS works (broadly) and consider its' applications when dealing with fear, feelings of judgment and triggering situations with family.
The intention of the episode is to support you with showing up to family at any time of year with the support to feel like you can be in the situation and empowered rather than falling into typical family patterns.

December 13, 2021 40. Intro to German New Medicine by Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer
In This Episode:
The fourth episode of our mini-series on healing modalities and medicines. This week we talk about German New Medicine and do a run through of the 5 Biological Laws Dr. Hamer created to describe his findings.
We discuss different parts of the brain, two parts of the healing cycle of diseases and how trauma ignites disease in the body.

Kalyna discusses how Dr. Hamer's work has aided in the recognition of the mind-body connection and his interesting take on microbes like viruses, bacteria and fungi as a part of the healing phase of the body. German New Medicine recognizes the cosmos as having wisdom beyond our understanding and states that every disease has a purpose and meaning.
We look at how GNM works, some basic facts about each law and also consider the backstory of Dr. Hamer himself. I do add a disclaimer that Dr. Hamer's work is not without controversy and if you want to know more about him as an individual you can certainly get further into his past and reasons for his controversial place in the world of medicine.

In This Episode:
This week we talk about the Medicine Wheel and do a run through of the different healing practices used my indigenous communities around North America. There are over 2,000 tribes in North America alone although only around 500 are formally recognized.
We discuss life's seasons, totem animals and compare it to the elements in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic principles.
Kalyna discusses how we age into each season gracefully and the idea that we might be able to find more reverence and understanding for each season in our lives. Native American medicinal practices focus on creating harmony in the body, mind and spirit. People are meant to take responsibility for their health via their thoughts and actions.
We look at some key inventions by Native American tribes in the medicine space that are used today by Western medicine. This healing modality incorporates nature's elements and plants, shaman and medicine healers, smudging and ceremonies, dance, and more.

In This Episode:
This week we talk about Ayurveda and Chakras and do a run through of the three doshas and the chakra energy centres of the body.
We discuss Vata, Pitta and Kapha Doshas and compare it to the elements in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Kalyna discusses dietary choices to balance each dosha, personality traits and the seasons associated and the physical attributes and qualities related to each constitution. Most people align most closely to one dosha but we are all made up of all elements and thus doshas.
Ayurveda's core focus is to balance the elements in the body to create harmony.
We look at the seven main chakras in the body, root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and crown chakras.
In considering the qualities of each one of these energy centres you will be introduced to a yoga pose which will open this energy centre, its' element and related life stage, the sound associated with the chakra and what it's meaning in your life is.
