„Ion” este un roman scris de Liviu Rebreanu.
A fost publicat în anul 1920 și este considerat primul roman românesc modern.
Romanul descrie disputa aprigă pentru pământ în satul ardelenesc, prezentând viețile intelectualilor și țăranilor din Transilvania din perioada de până la război.
Acțiunea are loc în satele Pripas și Amaradia, iar personajul principal este Ion Pop al Glănetașului, un flăcău harnic, dar dintr-o familie nevoiașă.
El își dorește cu ardoare să aibă pământ propriu, astfel încât, în dorința sa de a deveni proprietar de pământ, își concentrează atenția asupra Anei, fiica unui om bogat, pe nume Vasile Baciu.
Deoarece Vasile nu este de acord ca acesta să se căsătorească cu fiica sa, Ion o necinstește pe Ana pentru a-l obliga pe tatăl său să i-o dea de nevastă împreună cu o parte din avere.
Ana se îndrăgostește de el, însă acesta o maltratează după căsătorie.
Ion este îndrăgostit de o altă femeie, Florica, care este, de asemenea, căsătorită, și cu care are o aventură.
Din cauză că soțul și tatălui său o maltratau, Ana se spânzură, și o dată cu ea moare și copilul pe care îl poartă în pântece.
După moartea Anei, Ion și socrul său încep să se certe din nou, însă Ion își continuă aventura cu Florica.
Soțul Floricăi îi surprinde într-o noapte în timp ce aceștia au o întâlnire romantică, și îl ucide pe Ion.
Pentru romanul „Ion”, Rebreanu s-a învrednicit de Premiul Academiei Române.
Aceasta a fost a doua sa lucrare publicată după piesa „Cadrilul”.

Ion is a book written by Romanian author Liviu Rebreanu.
It was published in 1920 and is considered to be the first modern Romanian novel.
The story depicts the contention over land rights in rural Transylvania by showcasing the lives of Transylvania's academics and peasants in the years leading up to the war.
The story is set in the villages of Pripas and Amaradia, and the main character is Ion Pop al Glanetasului, an industrious young man whose parents are indigent.
He harbors great zeal to own land, so in an attempt to fulfill his desire to become a landowner, he fixates on Ana, the daughter of an affluent man named Vasile Baciu.
Because Vasile doesn't want him to marry his daughter, he dishonors her to impel her father to give him her and some of his fortune.
Ana falls in love with him, but he abuses her after they are married.
He later falls in love with another woman, Florica, who is also married, and they have an affair.
Because of her husband's and her father's maltreatment of her, she commits suicide by hanging herself, which also results in the death of their child.
After her death, Ion and his former father-in-law begin fighting again, but Ion continues his affair with Florica.
One night while the lovers are having a romantic rendezvous, Florica's husband catches them in the act and murders Ion.
Ion merited Rebreanu a Romanian Academy Award.
It was his second published piece following his play entitled The Quadrille, which was published the year before Ion.
