گرونانک کا جنم دن ایک سکھ تہوار ہے جو کاتک کے مہینے میں منایا جاتا ہے، عام طور پر نومبر میں لیکن کبھی کبھی شمسی کیلنڈر کے مطابق اکتوبر میں۔

ان کے جنم دن کو سرکاری طور پر 2014 میں تعطیل قرار دیا گيا جب ناراض سکھوں کی ایک جماعت نے پارلیمنٹ ہاوس میں دھاوا بول دیا اور الزام لگایا کہ ان کی مقدس کتابوں کی بے حرمتی کی جا رہی ہے۔

بعد میں پنجاب اسمبلی کے ایک ممبر بننے والے پہلے سکھ نے پاکستان میں گروناک کے جنم دن کو سرکاری چھٹی میں شامل کرنے کے لئے ایک قرارداد پیش کی اور اس قرارداد کو پاس کردیا گيا۔

گرونانک نے سکھ مذہب کی بنیاد رکھی اور سکھ اکثر شمال مشرقی پاکستان میں ان کی جائے پیدائش پر جاکر ان کو خراج عقیدت پیش کرتے ہیں، ان کا جنم دن منانے کے لئے ہر سال ہزاروں سکھ وہاں پہنچتے ہیں۔

یہ مبارک دن سکھ مذہب کا ایک بہت ہی مقدس تہوار ہے اور کچھ ہندو اور ان کے فلسفہ کے کچھ عقیدت مند بھی اس کا جشن مناتے ہیں۔

گرونانک کے جنم دن کے احترام میں سکھ اپنی مقدس کتاب کو پڑھتے ہیں، مردانہ اور زنانہ عقیدت مند باری باری سے اس مقدس کتاب کو پرھتے ہیں۔

ان میں سے ہر ایک دو سے تین گھنٹوں تک پڑھتا ہے اور یہ قرات پورے دن چلتی ہے، جو کہ اس تہوار کے دو دن پہلے شروع ہوتی ہے اور تہوار کے دن کے ابتدائی اوقات میں ختم ہوتی ہے۔

کچھ سواروں کے دستے ہوتے ہیں جن کی قیادت پانچ محبوب افراد کرتے ہیں، جن کے ہاتھوں میں سکھوں کے پرچم ہوتے ہیں۔

پھر جلوس میں گلوکار اور براس بینڈ آتے ہیں۔

جلوس میں وہ ٹیمیں بھی شامل ہوتی ہیں جو مارشل آرٹس کا مظاہرہ کرتی ہیں۔

وہ سڑکیں جہاں پریڈ پاس کرتی ہے انہیں پھولوں اور جھنڈوں سے مزین کیا جاتا ہے۔

اس تہوار کی تقریبات صبح کے ابتدائی اوقات سے ہی شروع ہو جاتی ہیں اور چوشیلے گانے چلتے ہیں اور گرو کی عبادت ہوتی ہے اور پھر دو پہر کا کھانا کھلایا جاتا ہے جس میں فرقوں کی کوئی بندش نہیں ہوتی۔

Guru Nanak's Birthday is a Sikh holiday observed during the month of Katak, usually in November but sometimes in October on the Gregorian calendar.

His birthday officially became a holiday in Pakistan in 2014 after a group of disaffected Sikhs stormed into the Parliament House making allegations that their holy books were desecrated.

Afterward, the first Sikh to become a member of the Punjab Assembly brought forth a resolution to make Guru Nanak's Birthday an official holiday in Pakistan, and that resolution passed.

Guru Nanak founded Sikhism, and Sikhs often take a pilgrimage to his birthplace in northeastern Pakistan, with thousands turning out each year to mark the day of his birth.

This holiday is one of Sikhism's most hallowed festivals, and some Hindus and other adherents of his philosophies also celebrate it.

In honor of Guru Nanak's birthday, Sikh's read the Sikh holy book all the way through, with male and female devotees taking turns in reading the scriptures.

Each of them reads for two or three hours, and the readings last two full days, starting two days before the holiday and ending in the early hours of the holiday.

There are cavalcades led by the Five Beloved Ones, who carry the Sikh flag.

Then in the procession come singers and brass bands.

The procession also includes teams performing martial arts moves.

The streets where the parade passes by are embellished with flowers and flags.

Celebrations on the holiday start in the early morning hours with ebullient singing and adoration of the guru and a free communal lunch.

علی: نہیں ہم سبزی خور ہیں، اور ایسا لگتا ہےاس میں گوشت ہے.

بیرا: میں دل کی گہرائیوں سے معذرت خواہ ہوں. میں اپنی غلطی کے لئے معافی چاہتا ہوں، میں فورا آپ کو آپ کا کھانا لا کر دیتا ہوں.

علی: کوئی مسئلہ نہیں.

بیرا: کیا آپ کچھ اور لینا پسند کریں گے؟
